Rai physically winced when she stated how strong they were...
"There... is no need. If they were that strong, then they are dead, even if they were in the Ark. Unfortunately, myself, my Cousin, a woman named Avice, and like two or three others are the strongest survivors that made it through on the Arc... and it may be arrogant of me, but I'm probably the strongest out of them... and I am not strong enough to single-handedly defend a territory that is under constant attack. Even if I had Avice or my Cousin backing me up... I'm sorry..."

Shiloh fell silent again, and simply stared down at her feet. She wasn't shaking, or crying... but the agony she felt was obvious all through her soul. She swallowed back her pain, and gave a slight shake of her head.
"How... did they die?" She whispered.

Drake hesitated, the last thing he wanted to do was lie to her, he had no way of know who her parents were or- No, fuck that.
"Heroically. They met the ends quickly and painlessly, and if it weren't for their sacrifice, many of the people, possibly even myself, probably wouldn't have survived the jump to this world."

She chuckled softly, and gave a shake of her head. Glancing up at him, there was a strange sort of smile on her face. "All of the powerful people died like that?" She asked in a teasing tone. Sighing softly, she took another step back, and nodded.
"Thank you," she murmured, and offered him a kind smile. She dropped her hands back to her camera, and turned her gaze almost lovingly to it. "Thank you for lying to me."
Then, with a firm shake of her head, she turned her eyes back to Drake, meeting his gaze for the first time. Her eyes were clear and brilliant, full of intelligence and, surprisingly... determination.
"What's your name?" She asked, her smile still gentle.

Drake's eyebrow rose at the change in character. Maybe this girl was stronger than she looked...
"Drake. Drake Sudeki, The Crimson Prince, Son of the Blood Dragon, Destroyer of Worlds. And you?"

"Shiloh Blue. My coolest title is probably that I work for the newspaper." She smiled at him again and gave him a small nod. It was obvious that her heart ached - you wouldn't need to peer into her soul to see that. Yet, she seemed to be holding herself together pretty well.
"I'm glad you made it here, Drake Sudeki, Crimson Prince."

"Hmph."
Was what Drake felt about that.
"I'm thankful to be alive... but to be here... I don't know. I think we would be better off with the mutants and wars back home..."

"Why is that?" Shiloh tilted her head to one side. The thought of war made her skin crawl and her blood turn to ice. It made her feel sick. Why would anyone want that?

"Because at least there enemies were clear and well defined, sure there were liars and spies and those out only for their own gain. But even then you could learn to see who was the real enemy. Here... we are trapped in this city, 'for our own good we are told for our 'safely'."
Drake spat.
"Bullshit. All of it. The people here are afraid of us. Of what we can do. To them WE are the enemy! And we've done NOTHING but ran away from death. And yet these people, this world, would rather us dead than be an inconvenience to them."
He shook his head.
"No, fuck this place. As far as I'm concerned the only allies we have on this planet are those from our world."
Then he fold his arms and scoff.
"But after the display the other day, looks like that isn't even enough."

Shiloh ducked her head, dropping her gaze once more, as she considered what he said. She bit her bottom lip, and then gave a very slight shake of her head, not bothering to look back up.
"This world is... different. And what happened the other day was crazy... but it isn't as bad as you think. It isn't as bad as you've seen." She glanced back up at him, her green eyes shining. "Not everyone here wants us dead. We have allies. We have people who support us, here. There are people willing to fight for us, because we are people, too. This might not be like home... but this place can become home."

"No offense, but I'm sure you only feel that way because, and correct me if I'm wrong. Literally no one, has seen you use your Qi."

She thought immediately of Adelaide, her only real friend, the only person who she could rely on... and how she had kept her secret for so long. She bit her bottom lip again, running it gingerly between her teeth, before shrugging.
"It's... It's actually kind of funny that you say that," she said, with a nervous little smile. "Nobody CAN see me use my Qi. It's... kind of the point of it." She chuckled, obviously trying to make light of a not-so-funny situation.

Drake just rolled his eyes.
"Then my point remains."

"But there... There is this blog. There's this person and they post online all the time, about the truth of what has been going on... They talk about us, about people like us, and have been for... a while. And there's a lot of support for us, out there."
Shiloh usually avoided talking about her blog. It was difficult to remain anonymous, sometimes. She had to pay some weird person on the internet pretty regularly to keep her identity a secret, but so far it had worked. If it would help, though... Maybe she should bring it up.

Drake shook his head.
"Invisible support is unreliable support. people are willing to say anything when the know no one can find them. But the moment it comes to standing for your beliefs many fail to step up."
