She sat on the beach where the edge of waters were noisily drowning on and on without an end always the same and yet always different. Avice was somewhat philosophical in her thoughts today. She had trouble standing for a while let alone able to use much Qi without feeling exhausted. It made her throat parched and her head spin.
She hated it.
She saw herself trying to use what she could around this area just to get a feel for her new limits. The fact was her original abilities seemed to take the least amount of effort while her mysterious artificial Qi abilities were more dizzying and harder to manifest.
She understood this world was dry if it once upon a time had power and has faded or if it was never here to begin with she wasn’t sure. She was certain however their world was tainted by power through the growing energies of life, death, and war. Energy was not destroyed with a person it remained and often grew in with other energies creating scars across their old lands. Emotions and desires gave life to their Qi. From what she could tell this world had nothing like that and who knows if it ever will. The laws of nature as she knew it could very well be useless here.
These were the thoughts she’d had when she wasn’t stewing in anger, sorrow, and vengeance. She remained still and almost forgot what roaming nearly endless lands would feel like. She felt like she was back on The Greatland’s shore waiting for her chance to strike out and leave everything she knew behind.

Shiloh had tried to avoid the Meta's as much as possible since her run in with Drake, but it was wearing on her. She had so many questions burning in her heart, and her anxiety was starting to eat her alive. She ran her fingers through her orange locks and tried to take a steadying breath.
Maybe the sounds of waves would calm her. No one ever came here, and she didn't need to worry about anyone seeing her. She was trudging along, hands buried in the pockets of her loose pants, her eyes on the ground. She was lost in thought herself, wondering about her parents. What happened to them after she disappeared? Were they okay? Did their country treat them well? Tears burned the edges of her emerald eyes, but she fought them back.
She almost ran into Avice, and stumbled back just before she touched her. Well, that was new: usually, it was Shiloh that people didn't pay attention to, not the other way around. She winced slightly at the irony.
"Hey, yo... sorry..." she murmured, her shoulders raising almost to her ears. "I... Um, I didn't see you there. People don't, ah... people don't usually come out this way."

Amongst the scrap and wreckage of the area Avice looked around and saw the kid who was surprisingly close considering. She certainly was either lost in her own thoughts or this Qi bare world was really going to fuck with her.
After sighing long and deep looking at the girl she spoke. Her voice was rough like someone who smoked two packs a day for fifty years or someone gargled glass after brushing their teeth instead of traditional mouthwash.
“Not many want to visit in the ruins after some destruction.” Between their own dome and the area that was already being inhabited here before they landed everyone seemed to have gotten what they could find and it was quiet.

Shiloh sighed softly and looked around at everything. It was hard for her to think that this was all that was left of her home world, of the place she had lived with her parents. She crouched and kept her knees close to her chest, looking out over everything.
"I... thought it was prudent that I come... see everything. Are you... from there?" She refused to look at Avice as she spoke, trying to breathe evenly and calmly despite her anxiety. She was scared this woman might know her secret, the one she had kept for so long... but there was another part of her that desperately hoped that this strange girl with the pain in her eyes might have some answers... or maybe even become a friend. The heavens knew she needed those.

“Aye... saw more of it than many ever tried, I roamed all over.” Avice shrugged. “It looked no better than this place torn by war and challenged by its occupants. And yet it was home.”

"Did..." Shiloh swallowed, her entire body tensing. She'd be stupid to ask, stupid to even try, stupid to...
"Did you ever go to Zekunft?"
The moment she asked, her heart rate spiked and she felt the nausea of anxiety hit her. Breathing was difficult, but she fought it. Her words were barely more than a whisper, one that could easily be swept away by a wind. Still, she refused to look at Avice.

Avice looked at the girl and really looked at her. She was a child or maybe she was younger than Avice originally thought maybe she had come here with the other children.
“No.” Avice answered finally. “I just got on the west bank and hadn’t made my way much in land. They had grand walls and were wound tighter than a Earth Dragon’s ass from what I know.

Shiloh shifted slightly, obviously uncomfortable. She turned her gaze to the ground just in front of her feet, studying it, and bit her bottom lip. So this stranger probably didn't know her parents.
"Oh..." She swallowed noisily, trying to fight back her tears. This was the second Meta she had met, third if you counted the angel she had only interacted with briefly, and still, she was no closer to answers. She nodded and fell silent, simply crouching there, next to Avice.

“Oi oi, what ya got to be cry in’ for?” Avice stiffened. “Look kid we all lost something nothing about what ever yar story be ya find kindred souls ‘ere. ‘Ow old ya be?”
Frankly she was a bit stumped at this girl suddenly bursting into tears she wasn’t ready.

Shiloh hid her face in her knees. She didn't want this stranger to see her cry. It was a sign of weakness to most people, and she didn't want to seem weak.
"I'm twenty-one." She kept her voice quiet and tried to get ahold of herself.

“Then ya remember some of yar past?” She would give Shiloh a moment to answer. “I ne’er ‘ad a family I roamed that world alone, can’t relate to ya, not really. I did meet a woman, one who let me ride in ‘er troupe taught me something’s. Hard bitch was close to any ma I e’er known.”

Shiloh nodded when Avice asked about her past. She remembered her parents and her life, she even remembered moving to Zekunft. She remembered the radical changes in her environment more than anything, especially when she came to this world.
She kept her face hidden as Avice told a bit of her tale.
"Where is she now?" Shiloh murmured, sounding genuinely curious.

“If she not be in that dome... she be dead... probably.” Avice shrugged. “Many of them,” she pointed to the apartments. “Lost something or another; children, parents, and places. I’ve no idea where my boy is... don’t seem to have come up with the rest of ye. ‘Im was wee months old...”

"I... I don't honestly know how it worked, or how many of us came..."
An image of Xapham flashed through her mind, and she suddenly pulled her face up from her knees to look at Avice. There were still streaks on her cheeks, but her tears had stopped falling.
"But... I might know somebody who does?"

“I already know the answer.” Avice knew if her boy was alive and well he had a family and knew not of her. And that the boy was out of reach to her. “I was already told. As ya can see I’m not happy an it. But my tears would be a drop of fresh water in the salty sea. So I don’t cry... I mourn the time that was taken and I crave to know who did it so that I may make them feel the same. They were powerful enough to bend space and time and destroy our world. I’ve not got that power... yet.”
She hat ripples of tension in her cheeks as her teeth clenched in anger.
