Shiloh stared at the woman. She didn't know what to say... She couldn't grasp how this stranger felt, having her child ripped away, but more than that... she couldn't grasp the concept of not wanting to find her kid.
Eight years was a long time, but every child deserved to have a chance to get to know their parents. Didn't they?
Shiloh glanced back down at her shoes, and shifted her weight until she could sit down on her butt. Crouching like that was beginning to hurt her knees, and while she wasn't sure where this conversation may lead, she expected it would go on for a while.
"I... I really don't know what happened, or how it happened. I spent the rest of my childhood at an orphanage. But... I don't know if your child would remember you, but don't you... want to know that they're okay, at least?"

“I know he’s alright and I know he is across the country.” Her voice was a bit harsh. She didn’t like to be judged. “I don’t know how easy it is for ya to get around or not. I do plan on getting there to find him... soon.” She huffed.

Shiloh nodded thoughtfully.
"I really... wish you the best. I don't know what outcome would bring you peace, but... I hope you find it."

“Quite frankly I didn’t come out ‘ere to talk about me-self. These people in this world... they can’t make up their minds if they want to off us or leave us be. If they were smart genocide would be a swift choice. We’ll just scar this world like we did our last, I know this because someone just might be back to finish what they could not... when that happens fighting them will spell the end no matter the victory.” She came out here to set some thoughts straight and plan on some goals worth doing. Shiloh can take that sentence as she pleased. It didn’t bother Avice if she decided to stay or if she felt hurt and assumed that meant she had to leave.

"Will... Can you tell me what happened? Back home? It has been eight years since I... went there."
She sighed softly, shaking her head and turning to finally face Avice, blinking slowly.
"I remember what our world was like, and I remember Zekunft. But what... happened after we left? Us kids?"

She blew a raspberry from her thin lips of all the people she asked and heard from in her investigations. “From what I gathered. We were contained in the dome. A ceremony was being held to soldiers from the great five to commend them for their bravery in a previous catastrophe. Positively a riot and massacre ensued during a festival, that’s a different story. Anyway the ceremony... we were being contained and it was noisy. Some of us forced open the doors which allowed nothing but death. But we saw not our world as it was we saw the last bits being torn away turned to ash like those who forced open our sanctuary. It was then I’ve concluded someone was keeping us alive...” she breathed and looked to Shiloh to make sure she was getting everything Avice was saying.
“Gods in our world were metas gifted with abilities further, resembling many religions. Someone prayed for the souls of the young to find safety as far as I could gather. So that god sent ya wee babes her eight years early, so the rumor. I know not the specific reasons but the Angel who resided here with you lot would know more of that.” She paused a moment more to try and recall what happened next.
“the most powerful leaders and influential of metas had seen many weak metas drop like flies. For the holes now created in the dome was sapping their life and Qi right from their bodies. They sacrificed their lives by sending forth their own more powerful Qi to feed the hungry vortex that carried us until we landed in this world.” She was pretty sure that was all that happened of the long winded event.

Shiloh nodded, remaining silent throughout this stranger's story. There were a few unknowns, but by the sounds of it... most people would have no idea of the details.
She began to gently run her fingers over the sand, thinking. Wondering. So much had happened since she had left, and there were so many unanswered questions.
She sighed, a deep sound from within her very soul. She glanced back at Avice, offering her a little half smile. "Thank you... for telling me."

“No reason for peace yet lass, someone destroyed and someone protected. I am very certain the destroyer is still alive and I have reason to believe he’ll come back someday. We currently are not ready to face that power again.” Avice’s tone was low and her eyes drew the horizon as if wondering if she’ll see the first sign of this danger.

"What will it take?" Shiloh asked quietly, still watching Avice as she gazed out over the world. "To be ready?"

An insufferable amount of Qi and an efficient way to use it. To destroy a world, to move through time and space; it’s beyond anything I’ve ever considered doing with my body. And this world is dry...” she licked her lips and a hand went to her throat. “When I use my Qi I’m not able to draw forth what I please. At this point progress of that level is slowed.”

"That means that this person's progress is slowed as well, right? If you and everybody is suffering... then he must be suffering as well, right?"
Shiloh shrugged. She could only vaguely recall the ease with which she could use her Qi in the other world. Here, it was a struggle, she supposed... but she had been here for so long, and utilizing her skill so often, that it had once more become like second nature to her. She couldn't imagine what having access to that amount of Qi would gain her.

“I can’t be sure...” she looked at the girl. “What do you do?”

Shiloh lightly drew random shapes in the dirt, smiling a bit nervously. "Nothing... super exciting... I disappear." She looked up at Avice with a little shrug.

Do you simply disappear, or do you create your own pocket dimension that can view the world from your space, maybe you cloak your Qi and your presence, maybe you can refract light to camouflage yourself?” Avice raised a finger. “These are things you must know... before you can unlock the true secrets of your power and possibly the space around you... this is the power this destroyer has gained. This is the power your modest disappearing act could gain.”

Shiloh blinked, tilting her head to one side in obvious confusion. "Um... I don't really know any of that? I can make myself disappear, and it's pretty difficult for people to notice me, even when I'm NOT using my Qi. Like, I walk through crowds unnoticed. I just... am not really there, to most people, unless I speak up or draw attention to myself. And when I... use my ability... Nobody can hear me, or see me, or anything. I'm just... It's like I'm ACTUALLY not there."
She shrugged slightly.
"My dad could do it, too. I remember him telling me, when I was small, that it was interesting being the shadow, and not the star." She chuckled at the memory, leaning her cheek gently against her knees as she thought about it. "But he always said I was stronger than I knew, that my ability was more than meets the eye." Shiloh shrugged again. "I don't know."
