She smiled at Rai as he let her in to the house and waved as she went straight to Adelaide's room. The young orphan was kind of a staple in the Sudeki household: she and Adelaide were usually seen together, so it wasn't uncommon for her to come over.
Shiloh had an extra large can of an energy drink in one hand and a warm cup of black coffee in the other. She figured if Adelaide hadn't responded, there was probably a reason... and that reason probably warranted a huge boost of energy.
She made her way to her friend's door and knocked with her foot. "Adel? Aaaaaadel?"

A very muffled and seemingly distant voice could barely be heard but Shiloh would be pretty confident that she heard the words 'come in'.

Shiloh had to juggle the two drinks, trying not to let the cold one touch the warm one too much, before she finally managed to get ahold of the doorknob. She let herself in to her friend's room, a smile plastered across her face.

Adelaide's room was dark and drab, with the lights turned off and the curtains shut it would be hard to see anything.
"I said go away..."
Adelaide would say a little more clearly but still muffled. Shiloh wouldn't quite be able to see her yet with it being so dark. But Adelaide's voice was quivering, as if she was or had been crying.

Shiloh immediately tensed. She could hear the sound of her friend's confidence leaking away, and that broke her heart. She crept in and closed the door quietly behind herself.
"Adel? Adel, its me. I brought you an energy drink."
She stayed perched right by the door, leaning back against it and waiting for her eyes to adjust to the dark.

After a moment of relative silence broken up by sniffles Shiloh's eyes would adjust enough to see Adelaide in the corner curled up into a ball sqeezing a pillow so tightly even the pillow looked like it was in pain.

Shiloh waited a moment more before approaching slowly. She left both of the drinks on the floor, far enough away that they wouldn't be spilled, before she got down on her hands and knees.
She approached Adel slowly, and right as she got to her side... she simply curled up around her friend, reaching an arm out to cradle her close. She didn't bother trying to say anything.

At first Adelaide flinched away and rejected but she was tired. She had been like this all day and night, she just didn't have the fight in her anymore as Shiloh wrapped herself around her. After a few moments Adelaide would grab Shiloh and hold her tight.
"I'm real. I'm me and no else."
She would whimper pathetically.

Shiloh nodded into Adelaide's hair, gently stroking it as she hummed softly.
"Of course. You're you. You're Adel, my best friend, and I love you. I see you, Adel, and you're real, and you're you."

"But... what if I'm not? What if I'm nothing but a fragment a piece of a puzzle so large that no one would even realize my piece was missing..."

"I would..."
Shiloh nuzzled into Adelaide's hair, smiling softly.
"I would notice if you were missing, from any world, at any time... and... and I will always find you, Adel."
She chuckled softly, using her best friend's own words against her.

Adelaide would seem to lose the fight to not cry again as she just lay there clinging to Shiloh and crying more.

Shiloh continued to hum softly to Adelaide, rocking her gently back and forth as she cried. She did not bother to say anything more, just sat there, comforting her.

After a little while Adelaide finally let go and sat up attempting to clean the tears, snot, and slobber off her face.
"I'm sorry, I never wanted you to see me like this..."
She would say turning way in shame.

"Why not?" Shiloh smiled and sat up with her friend, reaching out to lightly drag her thumb across her cheek and catch a spare tear that had fallen. "We're friends. Through thick and thin, right?"
