WR tilted their head in confusion as Gremlin awkwardly stood there. She looked like she had plenty to say, but kept biting her tongue at every attempted word. So, they reciprocated the awkward silence with their own as they waited for her to do something. They didn't have anywhere to be, and quite honestly, they were curious to see what was to come from this.
What happened next was completely unexpected.
As Gremlin reached to touch their shoulders, they would instinctively step closer, pushing her hands into their thick leather bomber. Their arms would fall behind her waist and pull her in slightly, and their faces were suddenly inches apart again. Theirs turned red, for various reasons this time.
They couldn't bring themself to say anything or break away, it was like their body had been frozen into this moment. They simply stared into her eyes, anxious, perplexed, yet... secure. They didn't know why, but they didn't want it to end.

Gidget stumbled half a step into WR, and stood there as they held her. Her eyebrows rose, but she didn't pull herself away or demand to be released. She stood there for a moment and then... she smiled. It was a strange half smile, not quite filling her face and full of uncertainty, but it was definitely there, and it was genuine. She tucked her head into their shoulder for a moment, pressing her forehead against the side of WR's neck, and breathed in their scent.
"Thank you," she murmured, and then wrapped her arms around WR's shoulders. She clung to them for a second, then pulled away. She patted the pocket that she had her number in, and nodded. "I'll text you."
With that, Gidget turned around, scurrying away. This time, she made sure to get away from the situation before her own pale cheeks flushed. She rounded a corner and froze there for a moment, leaning against the wall and trying to catch her breath.

WR closed their eyes as they embraced Gremlin, lifting their head slightly so she could bury her face in their neck. They moved their arms up and wrapped them around her shoulders before she pulled away, and they immediately shifted their gaze to the floor as they let go. Their heart was beating a thousand miles an hour, and they couldn't bring themself to look at her again, nor could they untie their tongue.
"Um, yeah, I'll... see ya..." They shook their head as she bolted down the corridor, half tempted to chase after her but numb from the legs down. They backed into the wall and sighed deeply as they thought about what just happened. Their head was spinning faster than they could keep up, so really, it was just them trying to catch a breath.
After a few minutes they finally broke away from the wall and headed inside. Today gave them a lot to think about...
