"What do you mean, you don't sell swords!?" Cain's voice echoes through the streets, despite the fact that the young man is inside one of the many fine establishments lining this particular road. He's been traveling up and down the street, heading into each and every store, and not one of them has been holding what he's been looking for. He's finally found a place that supposedly sold weapons, and yet...
...the only melee weapons they posses are tiny blades, barely fit for cutting fruit.
The owner, of course, doesn't enjoy this kind of attitude, especially from a member of the Old World. Without any hesitation, Cain is kicked out from the shop, yelling and hollering the entire time.
"FINE! I'LL BUILD MY OWN SHOP! WITH ACTUAL WEAPONS INSIDE!"

Shiloh was wandering about the streets when somebody was, quite literally, tossed out. She jumped back slightly at the loud yelling, but her green eyes sparkled. She smiled softly, wandering up to him.
"What kind of shop would you build?" She asked with a tilt of her head, trying to find a way to calm this stranger.

Cain dusts himself off, ready to storm off down the street when a new voice causes his eyes to widen in surprise. He spins on the spot, turning to face the person who'd been speaking, and his brows furrow.
"An actual weapons shop! These people wouldn't know a good weapon even if someone killed them with it. It's ridiculous!"
He's still worked up.

"These people?" Shiloh giggled slightly, a beautiful smile playing across her face.
"Why don't we get a coffee or something? You can tell me about it. I don't know much about weapons, but you seem like you could use someone to talk to."

"You know... New World punks."
Cain's eyes narrow.
He's never had someone just... fine, with his yelling and general temper. It's weird.
"But I guess... we could... Maybe coffee will help."
Grumble grumble. This boy clearly needs more caffeine.

"Come on, then. There's a really nice coffee place nearby. Its my favorite place to go."
She motioned for him to follow her and began to lead the way down the streets. She seemed to be in good spirits, her face turned up towards the sun, her eyes alight with amusement.
"I'm Shiloh, by the way."

He shoves his hands in his pockets, scowling. It seemed like this was his default mood, regardless of who he was around.
"I'm Cain."
Might as well be polite.
"You're not... uh... a New World punk, are you...?"
He doesn't figure she is, since she doesn't seem offended by his earlier tirade, but honestly, he couldn't tell.

She gave a little shrug of her shoulders, turning that tell-tale smile over to him. "To be totally honest with you, I don't know if I count as a new world punk or not. I've been here for about eight years, but I haven't forgotten my roots. I guess I'm sort of... somewhere in between."
Xapham had told her to be more honest with herself, and well... she was trying. It still wasn't easy, but it was better than hiding.

"Eight years?!"
Cain grimaces. Far as he could tell, she was around the same age he was.
"How's that even possible? I thought that fucking building just appeared here recently. That's how I got here."

She nodded, a little chuckle escaping her lips.
"Eight years," she confirmed. "I was thirteen, freshly turned, and one day I was at home with my parents and the next... I was outside of an orphanage, here. I'm not totally sure how it happened, but as I understand it, there were quite a few people like me. They call us the orphans, or something."
She turned to look at him, tilting her head to one side. "So you came on the Ark?"

He doesn't like that, not one bit. It almost sounded like this world had been kidnapping people from his much earlier than he'd known about.
"I guess so. It wasn't really planned, just a bunch people gathered together and then the area being attacked."
Truth be told, Cain doesn't really know what happened that day. Just that he'd been forced into this world along with a bunch of others against their will.
"Why'd they kidnap a bunch've kids?"

She gave another shrug, looking both ways before leading Cain across the streets. They were in a bustling part of the market, but she seemed familiar with the area, at least.
"Honestly, I don't know. I don't know who brought us here, or why or how. I just know I ended up here, without my parents or really any knowledge of where I was. There was another kid at my orphanage from our world, too, but once his powers started really developing, somebody came and took him away."

Cain does not look both ways. Part of it is not really understanding the danger of motor vehicles, and the other is a general lack of concern that anything could really hurt him, here.
"So you have Qi too, then?"
He asks, curious. It wasn't exactly out of place where he was from, but not so common that everyone had it, either.
"How'd you escape?"
Because clearly she escaped that horrible orphanage.

Shiloh swallowed back the fear at the mention of her abilities. She took a deep breath before nodding. Qi. That was a term she had all but forgotten.
"I aged out," she said simply with a little shrug. "In the orphanages here, you either get adopted or they basically throw you out at 18. I was too old and too quiet to have any shot of getting adopted when I came here... and usually, when the prospective parents came looking for me, I just... disappeared."

"Was that 'cause you didn't want to be with those parents, or just reflex?"
Cain looks away as he asks, since he doesn't want to get too personal with someone he'd just met.
"I'm guessing you're doing well enough on your own, since you don't look homeless, at least."
