As soon as the question was asked, WR's body burst into flames, and a wave of fire shot down their arm into their palm. "I will FUCKING incinerate you if you poke at my problems one more FUCKING time!" They snarled, jumping to their feet as they whipped around to face her. They drew their arm back and launched it forward, preparing to release the ball they had conjured with everything they had. But, at the last second, they jolted their hand back, vanquishing it so they all they threw out was a punch. In that moment, the rest of the flames died, too. They sighed, heavily, and turned around, shoving their hands into their pockets. Staring at the lifeless sand beneath them, they mumbled after a long moment of hesitation. "I'm scared." Zero Ability: Second Skin: WR's body is set ablaze into pure visible energy, appearing as red fire, which creates an afterimage that repeats all of their physical actions at a one second delay. The afterimage burns whatever it touches, dealing 100% of their ENG stat as damage to other players and characters. The fire changes colors based on their emotions. Additionally, they gain 50% immunity to all fire based effects.
Fireball: WR channels fire to a desired part of their body, then sets it ablaze. While this ability is activated, they can hurl fire (a single use) from the chosen body part, dealing 100% of their ENG stat as damage to other players or characters. This ability can also set fire to certain objects or materials.

Leif did not rise to meet WR's threat, or really seem affected by it at all. She just stared at them and allowed them their outburst. The only sign that she recognized the danger they posed at all was a little, almost imperceptible blue flash between her fingertips, like lightning jumping from one to another and back again. Her body did not tense, her eyes did not flash, and she didn't jump away or cower... In fact, she didn't even flinch.
Remaining seated in the sand, Leif leaned back slightly, and stuck her hands into the pockets of her jacket.
"What are you scared of?" she asked, her tone just as strong and consistent as it had been before.

WR hesitated again. Was it even worth telling her? They glanced over their shoulder, and after a long sigh, shrugged. They didn't have anything to lose, either way.
So, they returned to their spot in the sand, hugging their knees as they stared out into the ocean.
"My old life conflicting with my new one," They were going to leave it at that, but something in them pushed to go the extra mile. So, as memories from their past flooded their thoughts, they asked that bitter question that always made their tongue curl back.
"You know what a Dragon is?"

"I'm vaguely aware," Leif said with a nod. "You hear a lot about them when you travel."

WR nodded.
"Used to train under the Lightning Dragon. Not gonna get into the deets, but I took his apprenticeship 'cause I wanted to solve problems, to become something... greater than myself. To emphasize how brutal the training was, I almost died. Like, he came at my ass with the intention of killing me. A lot. He died before I could finish though. so I never got my title."
They paused briefly to reflect on their training, and smiled faintly.
"Came to this world with the intention of reestablishing the Dragons, to... continue their legacy, and that's still what I plan on doing. It's just..." They sighed, and shook their head.
"I'm in love."

That managed to get a reaction out of Leif. A brow cocked, and her eyes widened slightly. She tilted her head to one side. Out of everything she had expected or assumed was going to come out of WR's mouth.... This was not it.
"Well, Mazel Tov," she said, giving a nod in their direction. "But how are the two... conflicting?"

WR scoffed, shaking their head again. Either they were bad at explaining shit, or she just... didn't get it.
"Being a Dragon is a lifestyle. Even affiliating with one puts a target on your back, and that target only gets bigger, until it multiplies. Rinse and repeat. Point is... I never had a reason to care about myself. If solving a problem or saving a life meant my death, I would jump at it without hesitation. But now... I don't want to lose her, and I don't want to put her through losing me."
They decided to stop there in hopes that she had a better idea now.

Leif blinked slowly as she stared at this stranger. She understood it, but she also thought it was... a bit obvious. And a bit melodramatic, but she wouldn't voice that part out loud.
"Let me guess. She's from this world?"

“Bingo.” They muttered, shifting their gaze to the sand, then to Leif.
“I don’t want to lose everything again.”

"So are you scared that you're going to have to chose between carrying on this legacy or being with the person you love?"
Leif seemed a bit confused, but was actively attempting to keep her tone even. She wasn't attempting to mock them with her question, but she still didn't quite understand why this stranger was so upset. After all... The two didn't have to be totally separate problems.

WR sighed.
"It's more complicated than that, but yeah. I trust her, with all my heart I do, I just..." They sighed again, shaking their head.
"I guess I don't trust myself enough."

"That's understandable."
She nodded, turning her focus away from WR once more. She understood how that felt, not trusting yourself or knowing how to handle a situation.... not wanting to hurt somebody, but feeling like it is inevitable. That was a feeling that made complete sense to her.
"Do you think she loves you?"

They huffed at the question, then turned to her with a faint smile.
"I don't think she's there yet, but I will be here when she is."
They shrugged. That was really all they had to say about that.

"If you don't fuck it up first."
Leif winced slightly, realizing the severity of her words, and raised a hand to try to stop WR before they spoke.
"Wait, before you go all psycho on me again. Let me explain. If you really love her, and you're closing off from her or acting out of fear, you're just going to end up ruining things. Your old life and your girlfriend don't need to be totally separate entities. Maybe your old life isn't old, and it's just... your life. And if you want her to be a part of your life, it means letting her in and learning to trust yourself with her, and her with the inner workings of your life."

WR rose a brow and opened their mouth to retort, but stopped as Leif held her hand up.
They averted their gaze to the ocean while she explained, and sighed again.
"I said it's more complicated than that. I want to tell her everything, but there's someone standing in the way of it. He's a mutual friend of ours, I guess, I don't really understand their closeness but I respect it, and I respect him, and he wants me to leave her out of it. Normally I wouldn't give two fucks, but..."
They shook their head.
"I dunno, man. I'll figure it out."
