That Lovely Smell (Dj)

[Xowie Evil]

Xowie nodded along intently as Dj described everything, giving the occasional 'ooh', 'ah', and shake of her head when something of interest or disinterest jumped out at her.

She used the brief moment of silence to contemplate her meal, shoving it to the back of her mind when Dj asked about her life.

She froze for a moment, somewhat shocked. It wasn't a question she was prepared to answer, nor was it one she knew how to approach. With each passing day, and with each mood that passed over her, reality drastically changed. She frowned, and shook her head, but that frown quickly turned to a faint smile.

"On one hand, really bad... on the other, really good!" She chirped the latter half, tilting her head to the side. It didn't really register that he might have been asking because he was concerned about her, so instead of elaborating, she simply returned the question, perhaps with even more curiosity than his.

"How about yours? You seem like you have plenty of stories to tell."

He would chuckle and give a warm smile at all of her animated gestures. They were pleasant and whimsical.

He was honestly taken off guard by that response though. He would just let his smile dim a bit, but he had a lot of thoughts on the matter.

"Well, I'm happy to hear it can be really good." He'd say kindly.

Then to her question he'd say "Not really. I dance and cross-dress for a living. I don't really socialize much and I really just busy myself in my apartment. Do you still do hair and makeup?" He'd ask trying to deflect the conversation.

Xowie smiled at his answer, and thought about it for a moment.

"You should show me sometime!" She exclaimed, her wide eyes gleaming in interest. Then, at his question, she tilted her head, retaining that same sweet smile.

"I do!" She nodded, "But I didn't think to dress up today, so I look..." She paused and placed a finger on her chin. "Not as pretty. Or scary."

"Perhaps you can come over to my place. We could do makeup and hang out!" He would say excitedly, something new for him.

"I'd love to see you work again. Fond memories."

[Xowie Evil]

Xowie nodded with similar enthusiasm.

She was curious as to how much Dj knew about her... clearly, at a time, they were close, and she impacted his life in one way or another. The fact that she couldn't remember making someone happy was stabbing at her, and the pain it brought was almost excruciating. She wanted to remember. She needed to remember...

But she couldn't.

When food arrived, Dj would smile and look at Xowie. He would wait for her to try the food and react first, hoping for a good reaction.

Xowie thoughtfully gazed at the food as it was placed in front of her. She tilted her head from one side to the other, noting just how carefully it was put together. It was beautiful. Food preparation was art unlike any other.

Afterwards, she wrapped her slender fingers around her fork, and took a small bite of each course, humming in delight as all the foreign flavors slivered down her throat.

"Mmm, it's delicious!"

Dj would smile and nod before starting to take a bite of his own food.

"Yeah, Thai food has a lot of really intense flavors, I really enjoy it."

[Xowie Evil]

Xowie gave a loud claps of her hands and smiled with an enthusiastic nod, before picking the fork up again and taking another bite.

"What's this called?" She asked with a point of her fork toward Dj's dish.

[Djoser Aneksi]

"Gaeng keow wan, it's a spicy sweet green curry chicken." He would say cheerfully. It was his favorite dish he had since he moved here. It wasn't for everyone, probably too spicy for most, but Dj adored it.

"Would you like to try some?"

Xowie nodded sweetly, enthused at the idea of trying something new. Really, the more this day progressed, the more excited she got, even if she wasn't showing it completely. Even so, she wasn't sure if she would like half of the food she tried, but she was grateful for the experience. To her knowledge, this was the first time she had ever done something meaningful with anyone, and that was special to her.

Dj would put a good bite of it on her plate, smiling big. It was just going out to lunch, but he was just so happy to have Xowie back that it didn't really matter what they did.
