Come to Prota! (open)

[Novocaine]

Somewhere in the business quarter there's a nice little restaurant and bakery simply called "Prota". The inside is nice and homey, and there's two distinct halves. The left of the building looks like a diner. There's a kitchen in view and about seven tables to sit at. On the right side there's a display glass full of confections and there's about four more tables.

There's also a piece of paper that just says "Pie" with a big red X across it. The way it's hung up in a weird spot seems to suggest it might be covering something up. Weird.

This is the little business Nova and Daniel had been running sometime after they had arrived and made peace with the loss of their leader and home. You could say they were adjusting well to change...if anything it was like a strange early retirement. For Nova, it helped keep her busy and relaxed. Distracted. She still saw others are lower humans, but, she didn't mind talking to them. Learning about them. Like cute little sub-creatures with a conscience. Fun, fun.

She's currently humming to herself as she sweeps the floor, their last two customers walking out with a full belly and a treat for later. This place was usually pretty quiet, but, they had a good set of regulars that kept them going.

Daniel himself is currently cleaning up in the kitchen, bringing the pots and pans to the dishpit to start running them through while business is slow. As long as there were no anti-meta people causing trouble for Nova, he was happy to stay in the back and work in the kitchen.

Which was... a strange feeling. It's odd to be just working in such a mundane situation, rather than actively working towards becoming a Reclaimer. Instead, it was as if life had just... stopped.

It was peaceful.

Daniel takes a minute to lean against the counter, looking out at the restaurant and Nova sweeping away, resting his arms against the small passthrough.

"...Hm."

[Adelaide]

Adelaide would show up at the diner first. Which was rare. It was Shiloh's idea to come to this little bakery that had opened up recently. It was a nice little place and had a delicious aroma. But... where the hell was Shiloh?!

[Shiloh]

Shiloh came around the corner, fiddling with the settings on her camera, her attention entirely focused on the thing in her hands. She seemed oblivious to the world around her, which wasn't particularly abnormal for the young girl.

She seemed to gravitate naturally towards Adelaide without looking up, as if she were just somehow aware of where her friend was.

"I got this really cool picture of a kitty..." she was murmuring, before her head jerked up. "Oh! Hey, Adel!" She smiled brightly and looked over at the diner. "Are you ready?"

[Novocaine]

Nova's ears would flick at the sound of the door opening and look up at the newest customer.

"Welcome to Prota." she'd greet, but gave her a moment to look around. A lot of new people weren't sure what they wanted to try here. Meal? Just a treat? So it was best to let them think a bit.

When the second person arrived, it seemed like it might be a dinner date.

"Feel free to pick any table you want. Or let us know if you've got questions."

[Gunslinger]

Finally. More customers.

Daniel keeps leaning in from the kitchen, waiting to see their reaction to Nova. He needed to know if they were anti-meta or not, and whether he'd need to take over serving them if they were.

[Adelaide]

Adelaide looked around an noticed the cat ears from the woman that just spoke up well thats an interesting- then they moved. Oh, OH! Those were real.

"I..."

Then Shiloh came in! Talking about cats, of course. Adelaide sighed.

"Hi hun. Cute pictures... you're late."

Then she would look to Nova.

"Well, this is our first time here, so... what would you recommend? Whats the cooks specialty?"

[Shiloh]

Shiloh waved to the woman who spoke to her without looking up from her camera as she clicked through the pictures. She seemed mesmerized for a moment, a goofy little grin across her face and her eyes shining with excitement at whatever she was looking at.

"I'm sorry, Adel. I got so caught up, and this little meow meow just woul--"

Her words were cut off suddenly as she looked up and caught sight of Nova. Her green eyes widened and she tilted her head to one side, blinking a couple of times. She slowly began to approach the woman, before her face lit up into a wild, childlike smile.

"Are those... real?" she asked in hushed awe.

[Novocaine]

Nova would prop her broom against a wall, glancing at Daniel.

"He's good with seafood. Lobster bisque to die for." she'd answer Adelaide before looking down at Shiloh in surprise.

Even still she smiles sheepishly at the question.

"Ah, yeah. A different outcome to an enhancement than I had expected. They're kinda cute though, right?" she winks.

[Gunslinger]

Daniel gives a thumbs up from where he is!

He can't hear the conversation, but so far it's looking good!

[Adelaide]

"Lobster actually sounds ama- SHILOH!"

Adelaide's hand would fly up to her forehead sighing. At least she wasn't trying to touch the woman's ears...

[Shiloh]

Shiloh flinched slightly, seeming to break from her trance, right as her hands were starting to lift... as if she were going to try to touch the stranger's ears. She jumped back slightly and looked over sheepishly at the woman, trying to smile at her.

"S-Sorry. No, that's actually super cool! Do they improve your hearing and everything?"

She seemed completely oblivious to the conversation about food. She was too focused on the ears.

[Novocaine]

"Yep. Hear better than most people and see better than humans in low-light. Pretty sure they literally spliced me with a cat but I drew the line at the tail." she laughs.

Nova didn't mind the interest. Her ears were something she hid long ago due to some embarrassment over them. That's what happens when your perfect being is starting to feel flawed. But the pressures of Prota no longer lingered in her mind that much. Conversing with anyone not anti-meta was always refreshing, too. It meant she didn't have to excuse herself and hide in the back.

[Gunslinger]

Daniel tilts his head, then shifts to start heating up one of the pots of water.

He doesn't want to just outright interrupt the conversation as it's happening, that's bad manners.

[Adelaide]

Adelaide sighed.

"I'm sorry about my dear friend here. She is... a bit impulsive."

She shook her head.
