"Perks of being not only the boss, but the owner of the company and building."
He said with a chuckle.
"Do you smoke miss...?"

"Leif," she said, and nodded. "And yeah, I do. Are you offering one?" She offered him the ghost of a smile, one that spoke volumes. Once upon a time, she was probably beautiful, vibrant, but that had long since died down. She was still young, and quite pretty, but her blue eyes were dull and her smile empty.

"Sure."
He would say pulling out a pack of smoke and tossing them to Leif!

She caught the pack with surprising ease, carefully knocking one out of the pack before tossing them back. She pulled a rather nice looking Zippo lighter out of her pocket, lighting it up before slipping it back inside.
"So, Mr. Sudeki. You're the big dog on campus?"

He would nod blowing out smoke.
"I am the owner and operator of TSI. What can I do for you mis Leif?"

"I wanted to ask about the ban... or whatever you call it. The fact that Metas aren't allowed to leave the city."
Leif took a deep drag of the cigarette, leaning back in the seat and gently draping her other arm across her small waist.

"That is unfortunately correct. What exactly do you want to know?"

"I just want to know why."
Leif gave a slight shrug and continued to idly smoke the cigarette he had offered her.

"To put it simply. The world is still in an uproar. Half the world sees you all as saviors sent to save us from Armageddon the other half sees you as Destroyers sent here to start Armageddon. So, these walls are meant to give the later half of the world a sense of security. My men and I have spent the last eight years collecting, and spending time with the children from your world, some of us have even helped train, teach, and raise some of the kids. Because of that we are in a unique position that allows us to, one, know you all are just people too lost and without a home. And 2, not entirely dangerous unless provoked. With the occasional asshole with a chip on their shoulder."
He would take a drag and exhale the smoke.
"You see, we have no problem with you or your people, but we were hired to keep you here. They think if you are guarded and watched you can't do anything dangerous. So, thats what they pay us to do."
He sighed.
"Unfortunately, I hear more and more often of Meta's grow discontent and wanting to leave. One incident happened only days ago where a woman was trying to goad my men into a fight. Luckily one of my veteran's was there and he was able to diffuse the situation. But that one woman's actions have already started to spread... The non-meta populace is starting to whisper that the rumors might be true, and the Meta population is whispering about how we, the TSI, are suddenly big brother and out to get all of you."
He took another, longer, drag off his cigarette. Holding the smoke in his lungs for a moment before letting it out.
"More incidents like this and we're going to have a full shit show on our hands."

Leif nodded throughout his speech, obviously contemplating what he said. It sounded as if Meta and Non-Meta communication was at an all time low, which she expected, given the circumstances. She tilted her head to one side.
"So. What side are you on, exactly? The side that pays you?" There was no accusation in her tone; instead, she sounded simply curious.

"I'm on no side but my own. I'm paid to do a job, that job is to make sure the Meta's don't leave this city. As long as the Meta's are in this city not only are they under my jurisdiction, but my protection."
He would say bluntly.

Leif stared at him for a moment, the silence only broken by her taking a drag off the cigarette. She finally sighed softly.
"You actively avoided my question. If you're on your side, then what is your side? Paying job aside, of course."

He chuckled.
"You're a bright one I see."
He took a final drag off his smoke and put it out.
"I don't want a war to start between our people, and most definitely don't want to be paid to hunt down the Meta population to extinction, especially knowing that you're just refugees that were kicked out of a home they have no opportunity to return to."
He paused and stared at Leif for a moment before continuing.
"And especially since I know that because of y'alls presence this world is about to change."

"You know your world is about to change? Change how, exactly?"
Tension touched her shoulders at that. It was exactly what she expected to hear, but it still struck her as a surprise. This man sounded so confident, so sure of himself, as if he really did have some knowledge of that other shoe she was still waiting to drop.

"How do I know I can trust you with information that I haven't given my own men?"
