Well... as far as it reached my attention, the maximum of time allowed for a person to post his move on a fight is a full month. Failing to do so is an auto-win for the opponent.
The rule on it's own is fair... though, don't you guys think a full month is a little too much? I'm not comparing this to other boards, but giving a judgment of my own. I think a week would be enough for it. Not too much, but enough for anyone to come up with something.
Well, that's just me... How about ya?

Hell, I remember when 24 hours was a long time to wait for someone.
Anyways, I agree on the week.

Actually, so far as I know, if the fight thread isn't complete, then no one gets anything, regardless. Otherwise, it'd be too damned easy to just get into a bunch of fights, and then the guy drops out, and everyone else gets EXP, when they've only posted like 2-3 posts of fighting.
This is definetely applicable to the Arena, since its more unrelated to the storyline as a whole (usually, these days...), and because for the most part, its used as a way to inflate your statistics with little effort (...hence why I'm partial to NOT using the goddamned thing), but if you don't finish your fight, its like you've never fought at all---and therefore, how would you even have that experiance (referring to it both physically and figuratively)?
From what I understand too, though, if both people sorta lose interest in a fight thread, I heard its the unspoken rule that people just add that fight as a tie, add their EXP, and move on. But here, the rules do state that your fight thread MUST be completed.
As well as that, you must recognize that a lot of us have jobs, have college, have.. lives. A month is a long time, but some people are irrevocably busy, and this place is known for its 'easy-to-enter, lax-attitude' towards newcomers and oldbies alike. Shit happens, and sometimes, there's even an unresolved issue that further delays the problem, because the arguing occurs OOC-wise, instead of contacting the appropriate moderator for the job (Not me... Cassidy.), and tending to it.
That aside, I recognize this as an official petition vs. the already pre-ordained rules, but just stating the reason why things have been thus, up until this point.
For the time being, not voting.

Okay, well, I've experienced both deadlines (a week and a month) and personally I like the month better. I was in a tourney fight at the same time as moving into college, and I lost because I was unable to post in that week time period. Now, other things could happen as well, being sick, losing internet, parental punishment, your dog dying...I mean anything can happen in the span of a week that in order to make a quality post in a fight, I think a month is better.
However, I am a woman of compromise...if some people like a week and some like a month, why don't we just add it in the arena fight request. Along with whatever the opponents agree for exp and conditions, they should agree on an allotted time frame in which the other person needs to post before its an auto-win.
Edit: Also, anyway, if you have two fast fight posters, then there really is not need to change the time period to a week because then they will both be posting at a moderate pace anyway. The only problem I can see is that if someone is a fast poster and someone is a slow poster. Well, then that's the time that you send a PM or an IM and say "YO WATS UP D00D ITS UR POST LAWL!"
The only means to an end I see by decreasing the deadline from one month to one week is more forced-wins, and do you really want to win that way? I'd rather finish a fight than say "OH TIEMZ UP, Y00 LOSE."

Well... I hate to win by deadlines... I did so once, and honestly, I only liked it because I left my opponent with no choice but to lose... XD
But yeah, a lot can happen in a week, which is not the case in a month. However, sometimes the "lateness" of a post is due to either lack of ideas for a move, or just plain lazyness. Less time gives more pressure, a.k.a. more reasons to work up your brain for something. There are people that only post in the deadline's limit simply for lazyness, and let's face it... that sucks.

The only time I have ever counted an unfinished fight is when my opponent did. I think as long as they don't it doesn't.
So... as long as Mathew doesn't count that fight, I won't and I think it should be that way. Arena, eh... different rules and its more of a "other world fight" sort of removed from the story of the board or character interaction in my mind.
