Hey, I was just looking at some item ideas, since I myself am planning on having an item made for myself when I get enough money, and then an IDEA sprung into my mind.
What if an item didn't just give you a stat boost or something, but increased your stat cap slightly?
since this is almost becoming a problem for myself, and perhaps other people, but what if you join quests and other things where you don't perhaps post a junkload but enough to be recognized and get the quest reward, such as extra experience points. Even though you still are 'fresh meat' like myself, you get a decent amount of exp. and eventually you end up maxing several stats
Since you do not have much money since you are fairly new you cannot really spend tons of money to make an awesome item to give you your desired stats, and you don't feel like using your exp. on other stats?
I was thinking perhaps you could make an item that raises your 'potential' by some stats and increases your stat cap on one specific stat
EXAMPLE:
You are 'fresh meat', but you just entered several epic quests where you got enough exp to max your favorite stats
Strength: 25
Dexterity: 30
Constitution: 30
Intelligence: 28
Wisdom: 30
Charisma: 20
Lets say you like your minor stats the way they are, but you have extra exp and you want to raise your dexterity. One thing, your super broke?!
Boots of terror
+5 dexterity
COST: perhaps $5000?
Think about something like this:
Boots of Awesomeness!
+5 dexterity capacity
COST: Maybe $1500 or so?
Main Idea:
Since you have the extra experience, but not the stat cap, maybe you should be able to make an item with the ability to increase a specific stat cap. Its your experience which you earned, but you still should pay a fee to increase that specific stat cap.
I just made up prices here, they could be lower or higher depending on whatever seems more fair.
Mikey Added Note:
Originally, there are 3 statistics affected via benefits/penalty growth pattern. If this is implemented... Then if all 3 statistics are only 'maximum capacity' affected, then it would cost $750 as opposed to the $1000 of the 3 growth statistics.
Here's the fun part.
Each affected statistic capacity costs $250.
Every affected statistic, growth-wise, costs $400.
Two growth-affected statistics + 1 statistic capacity-affect = $1050.
3 statistic growth-wise costs $1000 (you save $200)
Two statistic capacity affectors + growth-affected statistics = $900.
...I'm liking this possibility. It opens up a whole new door for mix-matching customization to an item. But my idea is kept with the thing in mind that only 3 statistics are affected at most, still (still the possibility of the same statistic's capacity and growth both being affected).
