Posiedon did indeed try to grab Mathew, as he dodged to the side, doing two attacks. Niether showing any form of phase on the God. The attacks completely nulled. Posiedon turning around would aim a palm strike for Mathew's face.

So this was what it was like to have an attack nulled. Today he learned! As the God turned Mathew prepped himself for his counter attack. The palm coming at his face. Mathew would attempt to deflect that blow before sending his other palm forward, hoping to strike the God right in the solar plexus.
Even if that too had no effect he would put his weight in to it in order to hopefully force the man to stumble back or lose his footing. Either would work for him.
"Neat trick."
He deadpanned.

As the palm strike would land, Posiedon would indeed be forced back, his own right foot trailing up to hit the exposed ribs on the side Mathew was using to palm strike.
Posiedon himself would be pushed back, having gave up one of his legs for an attack would practically turn shifting his momentum into a one handed cartwheel. Putting his feet between himself and Mathew.

The kick would land, and also be nulled! He had that trick too. Surprise! He took a step back to keep his footing, and when the cartwheel came he would try to reach out and shove the legs toward the God's front so he would fall and face plant.
If the God tumbled Mathew would not be far behind with his heel slamming in to the base of the God's back.

And thats why he only used one hand, as he was pushed forward he would dig his free hand into the ground to finish his cart wheel getting upright, pretty sure that having seen his plan fail if he would continue the attack.

Mathew rolled his shoulders and put his fists up in a boxing stance this time. Bouncing a bit on the balls of his feet.
"You're not bad. But I'm better."
So far he felt he was winning the fight. Certainly had control of it. He gave Athena a quick wink. And a nod to Aphrodite.

Posiedon would look to the mortal the smile on his face slowly turning to ascowl. This mortal dare take the time to speak that way to him? God of the sea and earth quakes. Not only that but ignorring him to flirt with gods? This mortal knew not his place.
Posiedon would charge the would be god, stomping forward with his left foot causing him to slide forward at his speed, waiting until right before he came in range, shifting completely to his other side. as he'd shoot a right palm strike aimed for Mathew's face.

Quick, and angry. Good, angry fighters fought sloppy. Mathew pivoted on his heels so that his body shifted to the outside of Poseidon's right arm. His left arm reaching out to grip Poseidon's wrist keeping it extended as his own right palm would strike at the elbow with the intent of breaking it. If he managed to break the bone, he would twist the arm.

Posiedon knew this move, and as Mathew moved to break the arm, Posiedon lifted his leg slamming it towards Mathew's gut to push him away and stop his arm from being broken. If not it'd push him away at least.

Once again the blow was nullified but Mathew would be pushed back, yanking on the arm as the God's leg was still up from the kick. Hopefully dropping the God to the ground. Should that happen Mathew's foot would plant on the God's ribcage, pressing down with his leg as he pulled up with his arm.
Hopefully cracking a rib and dislocating an arm. But who knows, Poseidon wasn't a bad fighter, he might have a counter.

As he was yanked downwards he'd stumble just enough to land on his back. He was going to move until the foot was placed on his ribs and the arm was being pulled. Posiedon would reach his free hand up to Mathew's knee and dig his thumb into the patella while his fingers would wrap around and press hard into the back of Mathew's knee digging around.
He'd also be trying to pull Mathew's knee down, and flip Mathew over him, knowing full well his shoulder was about to dislocate. Unless Mathew let go of his arm while falling to keep his head from smashing the floor face first.

Mathew's Earth Dragon set's last null would be used as Poseidon tried to dig around inside the back of his kneecap. Now they were in a grapple. Something Mathew was good at, but so was Poseidon. It was going to get interesting.
Mathew twisted the wrist in his grasp as he dropped down, attempting to slam his knee down on to Poseidon before he could try and flip Mathew.

The reason Posiedon's hand was on Mathew's knee was because he assumed the knee would be dropped, but Mathew dropped the seperate knee. The worse case scenario in this case, pushing up the knee that was in his grip he'd throw off the weight of Mathew's other knee as he'd wall away, though using that Posiedon would try to roll his legs up over himself as Mathew fell so as to end up ontop of Mathew.

And so they rolled, Poseidon winding up on top of him. Probably on one knee to help with balance as Mathew still held his wrist in his grip. Pulling back on the arm once more he attempted to force Poseidon's torso to move with the pull as his other arm shot forward like a serpent striking. His fingers spear tipped as he attempted to jam it in to the artery that ran along Poseidon's neck.

Posiedon stumbled a bit into the strike coming in hitting him in the neck, the surprise of the pain hit as his arm was too slow to deflect the strike, though he kept through with the deflection anyways to knock the hand away, he'd even continue the same arm moving after the deflection to slam as a palm strike to Mathew's nose.
