He chuckled as they walked. Wishing he could see the girls faces when they find the empty chair.
"No vitamins, meditation and training. Forcing your Qi with chemicals tends to make it unstable. I do not favor that approach."
He said completely serious.
"So you here to check up on your sister and make sure I am treating her well? Or...?"
Some other reason. Maybe it really was just that the doctor was dragging him here. He didn't know.

"Qi?" He asked quizzically. He'd never heard of such a thing. He shook his head, still staring rather stupidly at his feet.
"No, I had no idea she was engaged. Ever since Leon, she's not been the marrying or even the dating type. Even before him, she wasn't much a fan of romanticism. Perhaps that's why it was such a shock to the family when she declared herself to him. He was a bright young man, very sweet and simple in taste. Makes me surprised to see she is with someone like you- strong and confident, not especially her type I would say."
He paused.
"But for some reason I'm not surprised. She gets that same stupid expression on her face when she looks at you...But no, I am here because Bastille informed me of a cure that seemed to be working on her legs and because the doctor has been trying to drag me for months. It's hard to travel in this world when you're..you know..cripple"

"Qi is a spiritual energy that resides in everyone. Think of it like your soul. It is possible to tap in to that energy for power. Though it's normally unique to the person. For instance, I can't just shoot fire balls or something. But I have seen people that can."
To give the very short version of it, before he went on to something a bit more interesting to him.
"Leon?"
He had heard of a few different guys before, but never a Leon that he could recall. And certainly no one that she had declared herself too. Other than Blaze.

Buck looked up curiously. "You never heard?" He asked. "Leon- I forget his last name...but he was the son of an opposing company that Bastille met when our parents were doing business interactions at the manor. She'd just returned from military training and he was helping tutor her in piano and violin lessons. He was your regular goof ball from a middle class family. We all liked him well enough but Bastille and him had a thing. They kept running off together and getting lost. Father was always furious with her. Then the next thing we knew she was proclaiming marriage and well..our family was sort of elitist...Bastille didn't understand, Father decided to show her. I didn't know until much later, but Bastille walked in on our father killing him. Stabbed him through the heart with a sword. It was the reason Bastille joined the life...although as a four year old I really didn't understand why she'd left or where'd she'd gone. Guess that would be why I hated her so much for so long. Vera kept spinning her webs of jealous rage too- that never helped. "

"And here she is again with a lower class man."
Self made as he now was. He had everything he could need.
"I knew something had happened with her family, and I let her keep that to herself. Just as she has never pried in to why I ditched mine." Very different reasons, but still similar circumstances.
"So if you are here for the cure I assume you will be staying here as well?"
He needed to know if he had to arrange for accommodations, as well as figure out what skills he possessed that could be of use to the Dragons. If non combat, than rebuilding perhaps.

Buck smirked. "Bastille said she arranged accommodations elsewhere, we will not intrude on either of you."

"Not even for the Bachelor party? I plan to have the Norse God's host it. If anyone knows how to party, it's gotta be the vikings."

"What is all this you are talking about? Gods- I thought they were just myth" He said, although it was in no way accusatory or rude, it seemed to be made out of curiosity.
"We will definitely attend the Wedding, now that we know there will be one. Be sure to get Bastille to have one instead of just sign some paperwork-...parties have never been her thing. Although her time as Kahleesi was a very interesting endeavor in the opposite direction."

"Oh there will be a wedding. And a party. I plan on it."
He was looking forward to it.
"And the Gods are one of the gangs I guess you could call them. In the state. They own a decent amount of territory and have done a great job of rebuilding. Most of them also have abilities such as mine. Though..."
He frowned a little bit before shaking his head with a chuckle.
"I think some of them really do believe they are Gods."
Which was crazy.

Buck nodded. "I see. America really is an odd place." He laughed, enjoying this discussion. He looked at his feet. "I hold no special abilities, aside from basic military training and advanced sniper training. I was always better far away, but after the incident I haven't been good for much of anything. Still good with a gun though. I was always a literary, Bastille too. We love books. She was the one who taught me how to read actually." He smiled at that. "B and Vera were actually the expert fighters in our family. Bastille more because she broke away. Military experience is a requirement for those in the royal family, no matter how far out- but we weren't a violent or expert fighting family in anyway."

"I see, that would explain how fluidly she moves."
Military training and formal training.
"I was more self taught. Ran away from home, got picked up by some gangs. Couldn't really survive on my own in New York. My first test to get in was to pick up 50 pennies from the dock while 12 guys beat the crap out of me. Broke quite a few bones but I passed."
He was kind of proud of that.
"From there my lessons were life and death fights. We were in the middle of a gang war when I joined up. But there is nothing like real world experience to cull the weak right?"
He didn't comment on the potential pity party. He would have none of that.
"What do you plan to do if you get your body back?"

Buck smirked. "That sounds exciting...after Bastille left, I was sent to military training and stayed till I was about 15. Not exactly life and death, but I got close my fair share of times too."
He stiffened. "Ah, good question,....never really thought about it. There was never much hope, my case is more severe than Bastilles" He said it nonchalantly and as a-matter-of fact.

Mathew waved his hand at that dismissively.
"Bullshit. The minute you give up all hope you die. You've thought about it."
Mathew knows he would have. A lot.
"Let me guess, buying a hooker for the night?"

Buck smiled, shoving a hand through his hair. "I never thought I'd get my legs back, survive yes, never walk again- fully. I actually thought about what types of canes I'd acquire. I rather like the idea of one with flames on it- like that doctor in that one American Doctor show..." He laughed lightly. "I'm not much for hookers actually" He'd only slept with a total of three woman in his life- your basic definition of classic reserved male. Very reserved.

Mathew just smiled politely. He didn't watch a lot of TV so had no clue what show he was talking about. He did nod when he said that he wasn't much for hookers. Mathew totally understood.
"I am with you 100% my friend. Why pay for it when it's so easy to get for free right?"
He chuckled. No clue that this kid was an innocent.
"Well, I say do something fun. Take up parkour, go get laid, rock climbing."
He paused.
"Once you are back in to peak shape that is. No point in falling off a cliff and getting crippled again right?"
Another chuckle. He was in good spirits.
