Dressed only just appropriately, the small woman sang softly as she waded into the outgoing tide. She loved this time of day- the shells were so pretty! The fish so unaware and unsuspecting. Paddle protested as he was plunged into the wet sand and used to up heave the collection into the air. How else was she supposed to find the shrimp? Several telling plops and squeals
Oki giggled, scooping up the squealing prawn and cooing to it, "Hello, Prawn." She watched as it tried to curl up, its tiny legs waving about wildly as if swimming in air, black shiny eyes trained on her. Whipping it into a red pail, its fellows joining before their senses regained, "Do not worry, she assures they will suffer very little for the greater good." Paddle did not find her delight quite so funny but one cannot protest too loudly without a mouth.
She continued her hunt. Not paying attention to the various bits of unattractive debris and collecting bits of sea glass, shells and the like. She was simply overjoyed at this good fortune. She wondered what else would occur this day. Perhaps... "Ah yes."
Her dark eyes gleamed in delight as she watched the movement of the incoming wave. She purred to the swirling water, adjusting her grip lower on the handle of her companion. "FORE," Oki chirped and swung. The flat of Paddle scooped beneath the silver scaled beauty caught on the tide- sending it flying back and landing on dry sand. The fish gasped and flailed about, only collecting more and more glistening grains.
Pail on her arm and Paddle in hand, Oki strolled to the fish. "Hello, Handsome. Its sacrifice is very welcome." Picking up the fish, she sank her teeth into its writhing back. The sickening pop of spine and cord breaking giving the fish no more reason to move. It lay limp, mouth gasping a few final breaths- as it did this, she worked a cord through the gills. She took a mouthful of sea water, swish, gargle and spit. No need to risk something silly. Mission complete, Oki began heading back towards her field.
