At the 'Nest....
Still muttering to himself, Sergei would lead Saburo to Delilah's office in the Crows' Nest, where she would be seated behind her work table, scrawling away on a peice of paper.
"I believe you requested an audience with me?" she would say without looking up.

Saburo knew this was not the times for fun, games, and him being sarcastic, so he remained serious and professional.
Saburo bowed respectfully and greeted Delilah. "I'm guessing you're The First?" Saburo asked. "Greetings, My name is Saburo, it's good to finally meet you."

"Nice to meet you, Saburo. I am Delilah Black."
She lifted her head now, a small, terse smile on her lips.
"I believe you asked for my company?"
Inquiring as to 'why' of course.

"I did ma'am, some of your men saw me taking care of a local theif, i took away the purse he was trying to steal, and they came by and killed him. I want permission to do this on a regular basis, and i hear the only way to do that is if i join your organization, so i am here to request to do so."

Delilah blinked. And narrowed her eyes slightly.
"Please. Have a seat."
She would lean forward across her desk, blue eyes boring into Saburo's.
"You want to be a Crow?" She tilted her head sharply to one side. "Tell me why."

"I fight for what is right, and so does your organization, mutual goals lead to mutual benefit." He replied simply

"That doesn't answer my question," she replied simply.
"Please be more specific. What do you know of Crows and what we do? My understanding is that you only recently arrived in Long Beach. Where did you get this information?"

"Your men killed a thief, i see that as justified, other than that i don't know too much about your organization."

A slow blink. Her eyebrow raised slightly.
"Do you often make decisions regarding your employment based on fleeting glimpses of what an organization truly does?"

"Then tell me" Saburo said, avoiding her question, but also answering it if she wasz intelligent enough to pick up on it. "What is the reason behind your organization's fight? what is your purpose? what drives you to be Crows?"

The almost amused expression that Delilah had been sporting vanished from her face.
Strike one.
"I would note, first and foremost, that interested candidates who want to work under my leadership should adopt a more respectful tone, especially if you in fact are interested in applying for the Crows."
She sat back in her chair, scrutinizing him thoroughly.
"What do you know of the history here? Why the bombs fell, the man behind it and the connection to a certain school?"

"My apologies Ms. First. I know almost nothing about what went on, i was on a boat whenever the bombs struck land, it was horrifying to see. The man behind it i also do not know much about... i just know that he wants to destroy this planet and i'm willing to do whatever is necessary to keep it alive, and to answer your final question i don't remember seeing a school on my way into town, so regretibly i remain ignorant on that note aswell. That's why i seek your knowledge." Saburo said. He sat thinking for a moment, then spoke. "I propose a trade, i will answer any and every question you have for me exactly, if you tell me what happened to this place. What do you think Ma'am?"
Saburo noticed that delilah doesn't exactly like it whenever you beat around the bush so he hoped that this would help. Delilah didn't seem like the person you would want to piss off.

"That's not a trade. That's an expectation."
She sighed and let her gaze drop for a moment as she recalled that day.
"I'll try to give you the short version.
"It all started with the public high school in the area, known as two-five-nine. The school system was designed around corporal punishment instead of allowing problem students to just drop out. One of the men that used to run this school was a man named Sean Barker.
"He took some of the more problem students about five or six years ago and threw them in a 'correctional facility' of sorts. Did some experiments on them, made them ridiculously strong and made them do horrible things. We went to break them out and Barker went underground for a while.
"About a year and a half ago, he resurfaced. He wanted to take revenge on the school and on the then principal, Zack Asiv. He sent his forces in to kill us all as well as any evidence of his crimes. Then, when it looked like he was winning...he set loose a wave of destruction upon the world.
"We didn't fully understand what we were dealing with until then. That, somehow, he had amassed enough followers and W.M.D's to obliterate the vast majority of civilization. We massed in the form of gangs that we had retained throughout high school. Some of those gangs no longer exist. Some of the people that were our strongest died within that first month, trying to reclaim the ruins of our school. It was destroyed in the attack.
"Sean Barker almost single-handedly brought the whole world to ruin. Millions, perhaps billions are dead and more are added to that count every day. He is the self-proclaimed leader of the new world and he has done nothing for the people. He takes them and turns them into experiments, has done nothing for the citizens in his lands.
"The other gangs, the Gods, the Free Experiments, the Dragons and, of course, the Crows have all been helping to reduce the tyranny of Barker. The Crows are humanitarian by nature; we take in those who need assistance and help them get back on their feet. Everyone here works for the greater good and enlisting is optional. The reason that thief was killed earlier was because he threatened the survival of another person here. Theft, rape and murder are not tolerated. We have no jails; the punishment for a crime if found guilty is death.
"But this is similar to what you would find with the Dragons or the Gods, if you were strong enough to enter their ranks." she leveled her gaze at him. "So, why are you so insistent upon meeting with me and potentially joining Crows. Furthermore, what can you offer the Crows that we would find useful?"

"I only wanted to join for the permission to get rid of these local thugs on the street...but hearing this...Oh My God....The world...." Saburo shook his head in disbelief. "Now i ask permission to join your ranks because i want to help recover the world, Mr. Barker's reign has to end, MUST end, even if it means giving my life..."
"To answer you first question, i like meeting people in person, i hate sending messenger hawks. and lastly, i have military level training in battlefield-tactics, geurilla warfare, and hand to hand combat. Whether or not you want to use those skills or not is up to you, but i implore you, please, use me. SOMETHING has to be done about barker. I cannot sit idly by while more innocents are killed everyday. What other questions do you have for me Ms. First?"

She stared across the table at him as the man spoke. Hard.
"It doesn't bother you, then," she gestured to herself, "That it was because people like me resisted and infuriated Barker that the world collapsed around us? That we are the cause of this in some way?
"You are also older, if you don't mind my pointing this out. Your battlefield usefulness might not be on par with a younger man, even if one such as yourself has been combat trained. We have the United States military here at our aid; which government's forces were you allied with?"
