Ocean Avenue (Jenesis)

Daniel sat alone on a outcrop of rocks, as the waves crashed against the rock sending a spray of water onto the rock. He was sitting far enough that he wouldn't get hit by the spray, but still able to see the waves. He leaned back, taking in a deep breath, his lungs filling up with the salty air. It was hard to believe that just across the ocean was his hometown of Shanghai. Talk about about a case of so close yet so far. He had already spent a few weeks in the United States, and although the Chinese accent in his English was not as noticeable as before, he was still getting used to this new change of place.

The cool sea breeze blowing his jet black hair back, revealing his light brown eyes. With one hand making contact with the water as it crashed against the rocks, Daniel would lift his other hand up, and with a gentle but flowing Tai Chi movement, would control the waves of the ocean, pushing and pulling the water.

Somehow, somewhere, little Jenesis found a two piece plain black bathing suit. Whether it was daddy who got it for her, or a result of her sneaking around, whoooo cares.

Her clothes were discarded somewhere along the beach atop dry sand. Jenesis herself was floating atop the water pretty far off, the waves gently carrying her further and further away from shore. She didn't know how to swim, but with her knowing how to manipulate water, she didn't need to!

...or at least, she didn't think she had to.

"ACK!!--"

She squealed before going under. She got a little panicky. She didn't understand- there was resistance to her trying to manipulate the water, as if...they were confused.

?!!?

PANICKING.

Immediately bolting up from his leaned back position on the outcrop of rocks not just as the feeling of resistance against his control of the water, but also at the sound of squealing. Throwing off his overcoat, Daniel immediately jumped into the water, and using his ability, would propel himself through the water.

As Jenesis continued to panic, she'd suddenly find herself out of the water, breathing in fresh air... and in the arms of a very confused Daniel, who was standing on a large platform of ice he had formed, dripping wet. Fan service ahoy!

"Who're you?"

She could breathe!

Her eyes popped open, one blue and one red, staring up at the boy with sapphire eyes...but otherwise, Asian traits. At his question, she raised her right hand and made a tugging motion, pulling out the water particles that made the both of them wet so that...they would be dry. Her other hand would rest on his shoulder, her weight shifting as if trying to get out of his hold- the bluntness of his question frightened her, and if it wasn't for him saving her she would have tried to run away.

That, and the fact that he was standing on a block of ice fascinated her. She could literally feel the energy of the ice.

"J-Jenesis."

Was he a water manipulator, as well?

If he put her down on her feet, the shakiness of her legs would result in her falling onto the ice.

Nerves. :(

"...who are you?"

Question right back at'cha!

Light brown eyes making eye contact with one red and one blue eyes, the moisture from his clothes and her swim suit would be pulled out not by his ability, but by the girl's ability. Was she able to manipulate water as well? Feeling her hand resting on his shoulder, as if she was trying to get out of his hold, he would slowly lower her down onto her feet... only for her to fall onto the ice.

Quickly crouching down beside her, he'd try to help her to feet, hovering nearby in case she fell down again, letting her lean up against him if she needed to.

"I'm Daniel. Sorry if I scared you."

Placing one hand into the water, he'd control the water to create a gentle wave to push the platform towards the shoreline. Once reaching the shore, he'd step off the platform, holding out a hand to Jenesis to help her down, his normal half-bored or half-asleep expression, whichever was interpreted first, on his face, as he'd smile slightly at her.

"That's pretty cool, you can manipulate water too."

She would lean against him only until she found her center of balance.

"Daniel? Ah- that's okay."

Jenesis would take his hand as she got off the platform of ice, bare feet carefully stepping on the rocks before she started heading toward her plain white dress laying on the sand. The dress would slip on over her black bikini with relative ease, and her eyes- sharp- would look at the boy who looked sleepy and grin.

"Do you come here often??"

It would explain why he was here. Jenesis herself visited the coast more times than she could count. It came to the point where even daddy wouldn't have to worry about her whereabouts because she was always here.

That, and he was always never too far off.

While Jenesis went to pull on her clothing, Daniel would head back to the outcrop of rocks that his overcoat had been left on after he flung it off to help her, and picking it up, would pull it on as he headed back over, his hands casually shoved in the pockets of his jeans.

"Yeah, ever since I learned I was able to control water, I've been coming here to practice. It's also the best place to practice... Well, let me show you."

Moving back down to the shoreline, closing his eyes, Daniel would concentrate, and with a flowing motion from his Tai Chi training, his eyes snapping open, would send intense circles of wind out into the ocean, leaving a trail as it traveled across the water. Turning to Jenesis, she'd see a sheepish, almost embarrassed look on his face.

"I am able to generate circles of wind with the force of a physical blow, but that's about all I can do with wind..."

She watched in utter fascination as he sent out powerful bursts of wind into the ocean. Even if that was "all he could do", it was still a lot- and would help him greatly if placed in a situation where survival was not on his side.

"That's actually pretty cool~"

A soft smile would cross her face. Should she also show him...her 'other' power?

"I have something else too!"

She shared excitedly, laughing, even, as she splashed into the water waist deep. The smile on her face would abruptly drop as she went into an intense concentration. She could feel the weeds and other slimy plants around her feet. Her eyes closed and ...

WHOOSH~

A sea weed would shoot out of the water, startling even Jenesis before it dropped down with a 'plop'.

...yeah, she was easily frightened.

A giant smile would cross her face again. It was like show and tell! But his power seemed infinitely cooler. :|

Watching Jenesis curiously as she splashed waist deep into the water and made a seaweed shoot out of the water, although he too had been startled by the seaweed suddenly popping out of the water, Daniel would applaude her performance. He wasn't mocking or making fun of Jenesis, he was actually thoroughly impressed by her demonstration.

"My ability isn't really that cool... But yours was incredible. Can you control all plants, including wood, or just aquatic plants?"

Daniel was genuinely curious, because if she could control all plants and wood, the world was literally hers to control. A smile on his face, he also was able to detect immediately that she was weaker than him, but that didn't matter to him. Placing one hand down on the ice platform, Daniel would control the ice and reform part of it into a Chinese jian sword, picking it up and holding it out to Jenesis to take.

It wasn't the most detailed, as he was still learning to use his ability, but he was starting to get the hang of it. At least he wasn't a hopeless romantic and made an ice rose for her.

"All plants, including wood~"

Pretty much she could manipulate the earth. Jenesis grinned, getting out of the water, drying herself again.

A SWORD?!

Her face lit up and she accepted the gift (or...at least, she assumed it was a gift) eagerly, pleasantly surprised to find that it wasn't too heavy!

"...woooooooooooooow...."

...this was her first time holding a weapon. Daddy would be so proud!!! (...or really upset.)

"Can I keep it?!"

No doubt, in Californian weather it would melt soon, but still...it was so pretty...

"That's really impressive. Remind me to never get on your bad side unless I want to get slapped in the face by tree branches."

Or get run through by a dozen or so weapons from The Children, Italian Enforcers, the list goes on. Smiling slightly at her, even though the Chinese jian sword was completely formed from ice, it was not heavy because the structure of a real jian sword was made to be held by two hands or one hand, and usually weighed 1.5 to 2 pounds.

"Of course, it's a gift from me to you. If you can maintain the temperature of the ice, the Chinese jian ice sword'll last for as long as you want it to. Just don't put it in a glass display case, or you'll wake up to nothing but a puddle of water."

Crouching down in front of the leftover ice platform, Daniel would control and reform the ice into an ice eagle sculpture and an ice panda sculpture, using his ability to maintain the temperature of the ice so they wouldn't melt.

Or the most formidable man in the universe, aka her dad. NO BIG DEAL~

Jenesis didn't know if she could maintain temperatures of anything- in fact, having also just discovered her Qi, she didn't quite know the extent of its uses just yet. She only knew of the water in its liquid form, as well as her ability to manipulate the earth.

But to be honest, the reason she probably hasn't discovered her potential in power was because she was scared- since...almost everything and anything could potentially frighten her.

She would stare in awe as he made ice animals.

"....wow."

Her eyes would look at Daniel.

"How do I maintain the temperature?"

Does she put it in a freezer!?

"Hm?"

Daniel would look up at Jenesis in wonderment, before smiling and motioning for her to come over.

"C'mere, you can try for yourself."

If she came over and sat down, if she allowed him to, he would gently take hold of her hand and guide it over to the ice panda sculpture, as it was the bigger of the two, and hold her hand against the ice, sitting down behind her. Surprise buttsecks! Wait, that's Winklewood.

"Ice is simply another form of water. Since you can control water, try to feel the water frozen into ice and control it so the temperature stays low."

HEY NOW. That's her dad you're talking about!

She wandered over to where Daniel was and sat down, to which he shifted positions and sat behind her. She shuddered; despite her now being "safe", she couldn't help but feel more wary about him- she had been an experiment for so long, that being suspicious of others... Although she may have seemed to have a trusting nature...

She would at first stiffen before relaxing, allowing him to take her hand and run it over the ice. The contrast of the cool solid water state in comparison to the warmth of his hand was fascinating. Daddy's hands were always warm, too.

Jenesis would close her eyes to concentrate more on the ice than in her surroundings. It was so odd- although the components of liquid and ice were the same, they were also so vastly different. Her hand would move a bit to the right, then back to the left, feeling the ice shift below her.

"Beautiful..."

A whisper. Ice- it was incredibly beautiful.

At first Daniel would lean back seeing Jenesis shudder and stiffen, but once she relaxed, he would gently guide her hand, and would soon let go, letting her move her hand freely along the ice. A small smile on his face watching her concentrate on the ice, he would laugh quietly at her whisper, because his reaction had been the same the first time he learned to try and control ice.

"Now try to control the ice and reform it into any shape you want. Feel the water flowing as ice, and mold it into the image you want it to be."
