The morning sun shined through the kitchen window, lighting the table Olesya was sitting at. She had a piece of toast in one hand, the other flipping through a file on the table. It was Maddie's file from the abandoned orphanage, Olesya had gone back to get it a couple weeks prior. It outlined her health history, shots record, known allergies...and her full birth name.
"Madelyn Grace Schnegel."
She muttered to herself, her nose wrinkling slightly. Schnegel? Really? What an ugly last name for a cute little girl. Her conversation with David still rang in her head, should she go about adopting Maddie? Would Maddie even want her as a mother?
Olesya took a bite of her toast, casting a glance at the closed door to Maddie's room. The little girl was still sleeping, as it was still early and she didn't need to get up to go to her tutor yet. They may be in a post-apocalyptic civilization, but that was no excuse for a lack of education.

"Morning."
David spoke as he opened the front door, the back of Youichi and August shown, holding hands as they walked away. David took his backpack off his shoulders and set it by the door, looking a little haggard but very pleased to see the white haired woman up and about. He moved into the kitchen, grabbing the near-empty jug of orange juice. He sighed, knowing that the shipments from Washington wouldn't be coming for another week, and this was their last bottle of rationed orange juice. He would take off the cap and walk toward Olesya, frowning a little as he glanced down at what she was holding.
"What's that?"
He said, gesturing at the file while he took a drink. As she replied, he would head over and grab the old pack he used before, when they met with Katsuri, and bring it over to the table. There were things in there they needed to talk about as well.

(Posting from phone)
Olesya looked up drom the folder and her musings as David walked in. He looked like he'd been through the ringer, but he was whole and there was no visible blood, it was all she could ask for these days. Life was getting a bit rough with Barker's forces pushing on the edge of their territory, not to mention the rogue factions causing trouble on a daily basis. Thats what they got for becoming so powerful.
"Maddies adoption record. I scavenged it from the orphanage."
She said simply, looking back down to the filder.
"I thought about what you said about adipting maddie. Im seriously considering ut."

David cocked an eyebrow when she said what it was, walking around the table and looking down over her shoulder to the folder curiously.
"Schnegel? Good lord... what dunce in history chose that last name for himself..."
He drank the last of the juice and put the cap back on, pulling out the chair next to her and sitting, placing the empty bottle off to the side. He would read a little before looking up to her face, a little surprised by her statement. It was true, he thought it was the best idea, for maddie, but he didn't know whether Olesya felt ready for a daughter or not. It was a big decision to make, and the fact that she was considering it led him to smile.
"You sure? It's one of those for life decisions you can't change..."
And he knew she must also be considering the implications if she did that- the fact that Barker may target the young girl to get at them. He would search her eyes, waiting.

"Famm ed'c hud mega E's kuehk du ducc ran uh dra cdnaad!"
She said exasperatedly, though a smirk showed through her expression. Kaleidoscope eyes glanced at Maddie's door again, it was about time for the girl to wake up, and she didn't want her to know they were talking about her if she could hear them.
"E ghuf dryd paehk ycculeydat fedr sa ech'd dra cyvacd drehk, pid cra'c pycelymmo so tyikrdan. Vun dra mycd oayn yht y rymv E'ja cuudrat ran vajanc, febat ran daync, nayt ran cduneac, luugat ran saymc. Cra ajah lymmat sa 'Sus' uhla, frah cra vamm tufh yht clnybat ran ghaa..."

David smiled after she finished, and would lean over and give her a gentle kiss.
"E teth'd cyo ed fyc y pyt taleceuh, Mac. Ed'c uha E yknaa fedr. Yht syopa...syopa ed'c y lussedsahd fa cruimt syga dukadran."
He would give a small smile before glancing at the door himself. The child was sleeping, but as he had come home expecting both of them to still be under, he guessed it was okay to let her rest up a bit for the excitement of today.
"Frah tet oui fyhd du kad drec tuha?
He turned his gaze back to Olesya, curious.
"Dutyo? Yht tuac cra ghuf oui ryja paah luhcetanehk ed?"

Olesya's cheeks warmed slightly as he mentioned 'together.' She still felt the lingering spark on her lips, and smiled slowly. In so few words, he had offered to become a permanent fixture in Maddie's life, and thus in hers. And strangely, she didn't mind it.
"Oui yna nayto du pa y vydran du Syttea? Fru ys E gettehk, oui duug ran eh yc ouin ufh frah E mavd du...du palusa sa ykyeh. Oui yna fedruid y tuipd ran vydran."
She felt her chest grow warm just thinking at the prospect of making their family official. Well...as official as it could be in these times. And besides, Madelyn deserved a proper last name. Not the name slapped on her birth certificate by a woman who didn't want her child.
"Fru'c hysa cruimt cra dyga? Ouinc? Un cruimt fa robrahyda ed? Van deBogart-Blaze fuimt pa geht uv muhk. Yht hu, E ryjah'd dymgat du ran ypuid ed oad."

He wanted...wanted to be married, someday. But in a day and time when things were more certain. He had internal troubles with Kiyr to deal with, not to mention the war and the amount of stress it would put on her and him if they were targetted more readily. He wanted stability...and not to mention, he needed more time with Les. Needed to be with her and what it was like, with them as a pair. They both had been so busy..
Busy.
Right.
David opened his older pack and removed the folder inside, which had blood on the outside. He took a deep breath and opened it up, taking out the stack of papers inside. David looked to les.
"Pavuna fa ku yhofrana- oui cruimt ghuf. E vuiht y vema mecd fedr ajano cbo eh uin lysb, yc famm yc bmyhhat yccyccehydeuhc. Pudr uv ic yna uh dryd mecd, ykyeh, yc famm yc y vaf lnufc."
He set the stack in front of her and started chewing his lip, shaking his head at the struggle ahead.

"Wuh...?
The thought hadn't even occurred to her. Marriage. It was a scary, exhilarating thought, like diving off a cliff. Les and David had only been officially together for a couple months, and he was right...it would be dangerous. Granted, she already had a target drown on her for being his Voice, it wouldn't make too much more of a difference if she had his name. But if both she and Maddie had his name right now...it would be a death warrant.
"So pekkacd luhlanh ec gaabehk ran cyva. Fedr dfu fynneunc yc bynahdc, E's cina dryd fuh'd pa tevvelimd."
She looked at the papers he brought out, closing Maddie's orphanage file and setting it aside for now. She shook her head as she recognized hers and David's names on the hit list, in addition to other important people. Mathew, Leon, Kyrie, Levi, Eurydice....wait, Eurydice was on that list? Wasn't she the one from the other night while Olesya was on watch?
"Eurydice...fru ec dryd?"

David's eyebrows went up. Of course she would be safe, but there would still probably be problems. Now, though, the child had an honor guard wherever she went, if she wasn't with Olesya or David. He frowned when she mentioned Eurydice.
"Cra'c Leon Sudeki's Feva. Un fyc. Tecybbaynat y frema pylg...fro, ryja oui caah ran?"
He turned and looked the bedroom, sending his tendrils into the room and determining the girl was still asleep. He brought his focus back and waited.

Olesya was surprised to find that Eurydice was considered 'missing' since she'd run into the woman naught but a few days ago. Running around in the night like a ninja, not providing her last name...it all fit. Why did she stay and help the night watch defeat the small attempted invasion? It was pretty bizarre.

David was now a little confused.
"Dryd'c faent...E teth'd ghuf ra dyikrd ed du ran. Hud uhmo dryd, pid Mauhc paah yldehk mega cra fyc tayt. Ra ajah kud rescamv yhudran fusyh."
He leaned back thoughtfully as he tried to grasp this new conundrum. He would clear his throat as he felt a stirring in the next room, glancing over at the door as the small girl came walking out. She was rubbing one eye, hair everywhere, and had apparently fallen asleep in one of his Tshirts. He smiled.
"Hello, little one. Morning!"
Maddie would mumble "morning" before climbing up onto Olesyas lap, leaning back against the white haired female and blinking a few times.

"Naymmo? Luimt cra pa yh esbucdan? Syopa fa cruimt caynlr ran uid ykyeh. Cra megac du nih yht dispma uh dra piemtehkc yd hekrd."
Just then, the door to Maddie's room opened, and sleepy looking ten year old shuffled out. Olesya tucked the conversation to the back of her mind, flipping the pages back into the folder so their ward couldn't see.
When Maddie climbed into her lap, Olesya instinctively wrapped her arms around her, hugging her affectionately. "Good morning, sleepy head. You ready for some breakfast?" She asked, smoothing her tousled hair and kissing her on the temple. There was no doubt about it; somewhere along the line, Madelyn Grace Schnegel had become Madelyn Grace Van deBogart without the bureaucratic paperwork.

The small girl nodded.
"Yeah, please."
David stood, heading into the kitchen and taking down a box of cereal. He turned around and showed it to the girl.
"Fruit loops or Waffles?"
David wouldn't lie- he, like most people in the history of terrible events, had some of the rarest and best food in his house. Part of it was due to his position, sure, but a lot of it was also the fact that the men insisted on it. They always argued that the leader, who put in the most work, should never go hungry or wanting. Normally, David would refuse out of honor, but with a family in his house... he would simply nod as they made deliveries.

"Waffles!"
Maddie's eyes lit up, she ans seemed to perk up at the idea of hot and tasty waffles for breakfast. It wasn't an everyday occurrence, of course, so having the option of something like that was a treat to the girl. 'How times have changed,' Olesya thought to herself, grinning.
"Hey Maddie...while David is starting breakfast...I have a question for you."
Maddie turned from David to Less, looking at her curiously.
"Yeah?"
Les paused for a moment, pressing her lips together as she thought of the words she wanted to say.
"Well, you've been with me for almost two years now, and with David for about a year and half or better. ...Are you happy with the way things are here? With our house and us and everything? Be honest."
