An eyebrow raised slowly, but she leaned forward, obviously intent and willing to learn. Because she thirsted for knowledge as much as the ever-present hunger for food accompanied her.
With the words, she blinked once. Very slowly. Processing and understanding.
She stared a moment more.
"...now, I understand." And still the drive for understanding further, and the reasoning, urged her on. It was so simple. Too simple, even, that it had flown over so many heads the other day. "But, would you still explain? I would like to know your reasoning.

"Leon made a big show to give up a title but keep the power. To maintain his position as an Elder. What is a title with no power?"
He laughed.
"Nothing. That's the secret Kiyr. It's ALWAYS been the secret. Being a Dragon doesn't mean anything. Nothing, it never has. It never will. It's a word, nothing more. I could be the pink unicorn and hold the same power I have now."
He reclined back in his chair.

And Kyrie slumped back against the couch, breathing out a huge sigh. So Leon was crazy. The Dragons were technically one big sham (kind of). She shook her head, and then stared at Mathew, understanding that everything she was working for was based off this.
A joke. Yet not a joke because of where they were in life right now.
"I see..." She murmured. And breathed another soft sigh before shaking her head, rueful but amused, just quietly so.

"I'm a Dragon because no one can tell me otherwise. I just am. If Lucian isn't then it doesn't matter what Leon says. And he knows that, why do you think he kept the power that comes with being an Elder."
He shook his head.
"It's meaningless. It doesn't mean shit if you don't want it too. Authority without the ability to use it is meaningless. And if he can't command and inspire people to see him as a Dragon, Lightning or otherwise then he isn't. It only means as much as people make it."
How was this not obvious by now?
"You should know this by now. You're smarter than this."

"A Name does not a Dragon make." Kyrie mused, eyes closing. She settled, and listened. It wasn't that Lucien wasn't "a" Dragon, in her mind. Because by his own self and if he wished to be, he could be and she had no issues with that, whatsoever. He just wasn't "The Lightning Dragon", which had been her issue.
And David's.
And Olesya's, in ways.
She sighed and opened her eyes.
"Even intelligence can get clouded, every now and again."

Kiyr gave him a funny expression...and actually chucked one of the throw pillows at him before dragging another to her. She shook her head.
"You lot are the biggest trolls. I suppose that makes me one, as well."
She ducked her chin, mouth hiding behind the pillow that she held against herself, sitting cross-legged on the couch. But, her eyes began to glint.
And now she perfectly understood David's anger.

Kiyr tilts her head, keeping her voice as level as possible until the amusement peeked through.
"I was just reaffirming that. So. The Dragons are a farce, aside from where we are and what we are doing and working towards. The lives on the line are real. I suppose with everything so...heavy...there has to be some kind of inside joke somewhere to lighten things up."
She blinked, but didn't know if this development spelled trouble in the future, if Lucien didn't know.

"Everything is. Any title ever. Pre war and post war. Being a General means shit if no one will follow you. Same with President, King, Canadian. A Dragon is a drive. A Dragon is the strength to take and hold command. A Dragon is what it wants to be because it is."
