A rennovated warehouse on the edge of town, used as, well, a warehouse in the earlier days, it had fallen into disrepair for years before one day someone with a brilliant idea stumbled upon it. Now, though the windows are all still boarded up, it's common to hear loud techno music blaring and colored lights flashing between the cracks in the boards. You see, that someone had come up with a very brilliant idea for this abandoned warehouse because you see...they turned it into a Rave.
~~~
A slender figure approached the large industrial doors, applying two sharp knocks on the metal. A slidey window thing opened on the door, a pair of eyes peering out before deeming her alright, the door opening to admit her in. The girl was dressed in a black micro mini with bright pink fishnets and loud teal and black halter top. Her long black hair had been put up in a messy bun and she was wearing a hell of a lot of eyeliner.
No, this wasn't the normal Chihiro that everyone saw from day to day. This was her wild and crazy side because when you lived a life like Chi did, sometimes you just had to break out. The gril grinned at the bouncer before stepping into the warehouse, the music and lights washing over her like neon jello. She already began bobbing to the intoxicating music before she'd even reached the dance floor, weaving her way through what seemed like wall to wall people.
Song at the Ravejohn had shown up to this rave, his white-ish silver hair and red eyes, where left, his tan skin, may make him stand out a bit, but his cloths where that of, white muscle shirt, and blue jeans. He wasn't exactly dressed for a partie, but this is what he felt comfurtable in. He looked at the bouncer, he was a big boy wasn't he? Kinda creepy, but he let him in none the less. In walked John, and he listened to that Fat Base, and it made him pump to the music. He really wanted to dance. He found himself moving to the music he hadn't even made it ten steps in yet. He needed to find something to drink first, then the dancing, but the body, it wanted to dance. Drink? Dance? Drink? Dance?. . . Dance? Yep, there he went John started dancing.
((ooc: ugh, its not letting me see/hear it! >.< Damn youtube))
The best part about raves was that you didn't really need to know how to dance to be able to go crazy. Everyone was jumping around, bobbing their heads, and just plain ol' dancing like mad. Glancing about at all the other ravers, the dark haired beauty caught sight of a shock of silver hair. Whoa, now that was different. She watched as the boy looked ambivalent for a moment before joining in on the dancing. She smiled, winking one of her teal and pink made up eyes at him in greeting without losing a beat in her dancing, as any verbal greeting was more or less out of the question because the music was pumping so loud.
There was a point in time when Chi wanted to be a techno dj, it looked quite fun to be up on the stage with all that equipment around you, the set of giant headphones half on and half off your ears. It was just about as intoxicating as being a participant. Anyway, she stopped her mind from wandering as she let her body take over again, dance dance dance like there was no tomorrow.
Shuddering waves of bass swept through the floor, bodies melded together in a wavering mass, and the walls echoed the chaotic colors of the floodlights. That could only mean one thing, it was one hell of a kickin' RAVE! And if there was one of those, Atticus was bound to be in the back, getting ready to come out and bust a few tracks. It was rare for him to get an opportunity like this, since most raves were restircted to curfews and 18 on up rules. But this one seemed to be something Atticus could get in tune with, and actually drop the beats all night long. But he was only allowed a short ten minute exhibition. Most of what was being played were from major recording artists. But there had been a few aspiring DJ's that were allowed to take a few small sets, and for once, Atticus was one of them.
Judging from the crowd, the type of music that was most needed ws all-out dance style music. No probs there. Atticus was into trance-style, but that form was easily dancable. In fact, Atticus considered trance to be the slow dance of club music. Cooling the beats down to 80 bpm and keeping a hynotic beat was all he needed to do to keep an audience grooving.
"You got one 'till your set, ready?" One of the club's workers had fianlly gotten around to telling Atticus it was his time to go. With a nod and a thumbs up, Atticus got use to the constrained view of the visor he had on. It was a metal band that covered his eyes, but had a blue lens stretching over the front, in the shape of a sideways hourglass. There were two reasons for the visor. The first was sothat he wouldn't be recognized at school. The second was because if people didn't know who he was, he performed better, since nobody would know who it was if he screwed up. The visor also had earpieces, basically a hexagonal set of headphones, which was precisely what they were for. In addition, he had gloves on that were on the verge of being guantlets, but were fingerless. They just looked good. That entire getup gave him an anime-ish sort of feel as he walked up to take the tables.
With the last set over, it was Atticus' turn. Quickly memorizing the layout of the digital turntables, Atticus trailed his exposed fingers over each slider on the equalizer, and over the channel switches. It was time. Quickly maximizing the bass and upping the speaker output, Atticus began his set, starting with a fast paced, thumping dance mix primarily fueled by basslines. Halfway through his set, just beofre people could get bored with his track, he set the crossfade over to the other side of the table and quickly transitioned into trance. It was a dreamy tune, set with plenty of chimes and the slow enticing beat. His baseline was pretty quiet in contrast to the last song, emphasizing a sound similar to a heartbeat. But before he knew it, his set had one minute left. So he let the song trail off quietly, as the last fifteen seconds of his set rolled by. With nothing more than a wave to the audience, he was done, going backstage again while the designated DJ took the stage again.
"So short..." Atticus mumbled to himself, almost drowned out by the sudden restart of a heavy beat.
Rave Chi glanced up at the DJ platform as the music changed, there was another DJ coming up to play. She had to give him props on the blue glasses, they were pretty hot. Well, everything looked pretty hot right now, that was another wonderous thing about a rave, everything was just peachy. Peachy peachy peachy...Chi thought with a general sense of contentment as she continued to dance. A few strands of hair fell fro her messy bun, but she didn't rightly care. She'll most likely have to put her hair up a few times before the night was over. If anything, she knew how to rave. W00t.
She frowned slightly when his set was over, that was fast. But then again, he was probably new. For a newbie, he was pretty good. This made Chi think once again about her wanting to be a DJ, as you more or less had the entirety of the raver population under your control. Maybe if she saw him around she would ask about it, or at least compliment him on his set. Whatever came first. But right now the new DJ had sped up the beat and everyone had sped up their insane dancing, talking about power.
A familiar black backpack wit an old skateboard was left backstage, with the visor and gauntlest hanging out of it loosely. His set was only ten minutes, but he got to stay for the whole rave if he wanted to. Of course, with all the crazy awesome stuff that happens at raves, of course he was going to stay. Raves were pure awesomeness contained in a room. This one, of course, was no different. As he walked out into the dance floor, he noticed that there was no "show-off zone" yet. Oh well, his breakdancing was rusty anyway. he wouldn't be showing off tonight if he didn't have too.
For now, he just let his body move to the music, kind of like when he was in the halls and listening to his MP3. The only difference was that he didn't bounce back and forth, so he wouldn't be knocking people over. Even if it was well known music being played, it still held a good beat, after all, it was techno. Techno could do no wrong. Atticus just let himself drift from area to area, until he found himself in the dead center of the dance floor. That way, when the show-offs commenced, he could be rght there watching them. There was only one thing he was missing... Glow sticks.
That DJ was pretty good John was still unable to make it to get a drink yet, stuck dancing, he got a hellow wink from a girl, so he decided to return it. He continued in that crazy fashion and even had to move faster as the new DJ had stopped after his set. Not fare, John was having fun. He stopped long enough to spot the drinks, but the newer DJ after the newbie hit an even faster beat. Sucking John back into his little zone of never ending dance. Stuck bouncing, a few girls surrounded him and danced with him. all of them bouncing in unisen.
Now John had another reason for being here, the girls where hot and they knew it too. Maybe John could get a few to go out with him later on, but tonight he was busy dancing and partying like there was no tomorrow. Black lights lit up from all corners of the place, his shirt glowing, his hair glowing too. everything white, and brightly colored began tog low from the black lights. He saw some people in a corner breaking cem lights and glow sticks and spreying each other with the stuff and ran out to dance.
Glowsticks...Chi couldn't help but notice the strange lack of them. Then all of a sudden, they began to fly out into the crowd. The dark haired girl managaed to catch three of the bracelet shaped ones, two blue and a pink. The girl frowned slightly, that meant they were uneven. She needed another pink one. She placed the two blue ones on her upper arms, staring at the pink one for a moment. Dark eyes scanned the crowd for another pink glowy bracelet just as the black lights turned on. Now things were really getting started.
Then she spotted it, a boy had caught a pink one. Making her way toward him, she put on a coquettish smile before 'asking' (as she basically had to shout over the music) him for it.
"May I have that?"
She asked, pointing to the one in his hand and then to the one in her hand to make the point clear. He would probably ask for something in exchange since glowy things were basically the shit at a rave, but she was feeling pretty good and up to consider whatever.
((ooc: someone can play the boy if they want or I can npc it, I just thought I'd throw it out there because like no one's interacting xD))
Glowsticks for the taking! They were practically raining from the ceiling. Trying to catch all he could, Atticus ended up with all sorts of new colors. He had a green stick wrapped around his lower left arm in a warped figure eight, and a blue one in the same style on the right. There was a large pink one around his neck, and a yellow one hanging off that one, like a little circular handle or something. And one more purple one was left in his hand. Getting an idea, he pried the rubber bands holding together the thin tail of hair coming from the back of his head. Jamming the glowstick in, he now had a glowing hairdo. Not bad. Getting back into the groove, a pink bracelet-size stick hit him square in the face. Wondering what he should do with it, since most of his body had some sort of glow to it, he noticed some sort of noise.
"May I have that?"
It was a little hard to hear, but a girl had just made it known that she wanted the glow stick in Atticus' hands. Though he wasn't too mindful of symmetry in his style, she looked like she needed a pink bracelet to complete her set. With a smile, he tossed the bracelet the couple of feet he needed to cover in order to get it to her. What could he say? It was a cute girl, who was he to keep her from getting a little extra glow. And he had plenty as it was. After that was taken care of, he considered dancing with her, but figured if she wanted that, she'd probably step up to him.
Chi beamed as the boy threw her the pink glowy bracelet. He was kinda cute, especially when he smiled at her. She repressed a grin at how glowified he was decked, but then again, everyone was basically plastered with glow sticks and bracelets.
She stepped closer to him, well danced closer as the music was still going, as she spoke up again, shouting over the techno glory.
"My name's Chi, what's yours?"
((ooc: ack, short >.<))
Things were going good tonight, a short but decent set up on stage, plenty of glow, and now a girl had decided that he was cool enough to dance with. Completely awesome. And of course, the girl was cute. Since it was thier first time really meeting, they both danced not so much together as next to each other. Though by the end of the night, there would be a possibility of having seven digits written on his hand. And by the sounds of things, he already had a name to put above those potential digits; "Chi". That quickly reminded him that he had never seen an episode of Chobits, the main female character being named "Chi". He'd have to pirate an episode or something soon.
Just before he could introduce himself, the music changed into a remix of "Girls" by the Beastie Boys. On the inside, he was busting up laughing from the irony, but managed to keep it to a grin on the outside. "My name? It's Atticus!" Again, he tossed the smile in her direction. The wink was so overplayed these days. And truth be told, it was kinda creepy looking when a guy winked. "There's some good beats tonight! You do this often?"
Atticus...nice name. Different, cool. Chi returned the smile as they continued to dance, brushing a strand of her long black hair out of her eyes as it fell from her messy bun. She'd probably have to put it up a few times before the night was over. The dark haired girl stifled a laugh as the new song came on, it was an odd choice but funny.
If she would dance - I would D.J. We took a walk down to the bay
I hope she'll say, "Hey me and you should hit the hay!" I asked her out - she said, "No way!"
The girl laughed, singing to the music, but it more or less just appeared she was mouthing the words because no one could really hear much of anything. Chi squinted slightly at the boy as he spoke, trying to hear him better. The girl grinned, giving him a half shrug.
"Yeah, sometimes you just gotta break out for a night, you know?"
Atticus could notice her mouth moving a little. He couldn't read lips, but he could have sworn she was singing along. Damn, this girl was actually pretty cool. But the DJ was being a little offbeat by throwing this song in, even if it were remixed. Still, the crowd was still groovin' so all in all, it was a good choice, especially if the girl liked it.
Then, as if the hypnotic glowing colors and floor shaking bass weren't enough to keep his mind off of his normal life, he remembered that he was supposed to be the biggest asshole in town. When he came to Cali, he knew he'd have to depend on only himself, especially with such a school as the one he was in now. Nothing but violence and boring old classes. He couldn't make it through if he let his guard down and let people into his life. So instead, he shoved everyone away, making sure to rely only on himself. All of the lights and music must have made him forget, for just that bit of time. And now he had one good question on his mind;
Just be himself, or follow through with the plan?
"Chi... I'll be right back... I need to take care of something, 'kay?" Atticus shouted over the song. With that, he slowly wriggled out of the crowd, that question still in his mind.
The boy appeared to have something on his mind as they raved, and she tilted her head to the side in a curious tone before he spoke up. Chi nodded, both in recognition and in beat with the music, giving a slight shrug/
"Okay."
She shouted back, not losing a beat in the dancing. It wasn't really her business if he continued dancing with her or not. They'd just met, she knew nothing about him save his name, so who was she to get attached? Chihiro Amuri did not get attached to anyone, she only had one friend that she knew of, and that was the result of a series events they had no control over. It was almost impossible to not be friends affter that. Anyway..Chi pulled herself from her thoughts. Now wasn't a time for pensive thought, it was a time of dance.
Soon the song ended and another started up, the strobe lights on the stage flashing so that the crowd began to jump in her vision like a bunch of still photographs. She loved the feeling of the strobe lights at a rave, it kind of gave you a sense of detachment, watching everything one moment at a time, everything washed over by the loud intoxicating techno music.
Backstage after getting out of the crowd, Atticus sat down next to his backpack full of his gear. Letting his hand drop into the frontmost pocket, he drew out a letter, just staring at the envelope. It was sent when he got to Cali, but he hadn't opened it yet. Finally, with a rough tearing motion, he tore off the side of the envelope and opened up the letter. Sure enough, it had everything that he expected to be in a letter from his family. And sure enough, every last word of it aggrivated him. Not in the angry way, but the way that just messes up everything.
Worst thing was, they all thought he was doing fine. Making friends, having fun, all that good stuff. Yet here he was, in the back of a warehouse, ditching a total cutie, and hiding from society. He had to ask himself what was wrong with him. Putting the letter down with a aggrivated sigh, his gaze drifted over to the visor he had worn while DJ'ing. Just another symbol of his rejection.
----------------------------------------------------------
Just a few minutes later, Atticus was back in the crowd. This time, he had the visor on, seeing the whole world through a blue tint. A grin played on his face as he danced through the crowd, trying to find lil' Miss Chi in the crowd of moving bodies. It was a little harder to get in that it was to get out though. The DJ was now kicking some major ass, so people were too focused on dancing to move out of Atticus' way. "Gah, why won't people move?" He muttered to himself, trying to slide past a couple of girls.
