"Bye Mom!"
A fresh frenzied wave ushered out as the small girl took a fleeting step through the parting archaic door coming down a number of brick steps to a livid patio. It was a breath of fresh air these first few steps were, the days before had been encumbered by moving trucks, totted bags, and the stale breath of her mother's overly freshened mouthwash scalding her features. Violet had been awaiting the first instant to make a break away to freedom finding it finally and not hesitating to take flight as baby blue converse speckled with a comical pink and yellow guided her departure. Through a white painted fence, down a cobblestone corner, and around the narrow block to a bus stop she found herself giddy with the possibilities that were to unravel towards her new school. It wasn't until her happiness had reached its peak when it'd take a careening plummet downwards into the bountiful space that was her belly. Oof was what it'd sound like as a familiar figure entered her fray. A few feet before her waiting pleasantly at the bus stop was her babysitter, Alice Vaughn, not altogether the most displeasant of company however it was something that Vi hadn't been counting on. She had spent all night restlessly dreaming of facing this day alone and without any sort of influence from her family yet still that was to come to naught.
A little bit of background for those of you whom are in fact lost; Alice Vaughn had been something of a childhood accomplice of Violet's very much so in the sense that the two never really associated at all or very much hung out in the same crowds. Alice had been top in her class and a role model to much of their previous student bodies, very much the social advocate although as would soon be found out to Violet her family couldn't afford the top schools that this angelic figure deserved. Lets call it a bit of charity or even a job, all the same the Vaughns were now employed to keep a close eye on Violet's behaviors and keep her in line with what was to be expected of her. Though chided for stepping out of line however it wasn't long before Vi got under Alice's skin and a deal brokered. That didn't mean that Vi enjoyed what was going on here and now.
"What are you doing here!" Vi would fume finally stopping her escalated pace and coming to a droll crawl only to be met by a pair of sweet brown hues. "Well wouldn't you know it, shucks we're going to the same school again its like fate." Alice would respond in a painfully sarcastic tone never breaking her cheery demeanor yet facing forward with the arrival of the school bus before stepping on. A moment would pass and the contemplative thought would cross Violet's mind, now is the time to make a break for it... The doors would close behind her and the young girl would find herself trapped on the bus headed to school. 'Drat, too late.'
A few moments later and a dreadful drive behind her the steady shuffle of the bus would come to a stop out in front of the school yard and the many fresh faces that had joined her for her first ride to school quickly embarking Violet would find herself breaking out onto the front steps to take a long toke of fresh air. Ah peaceful.
~Thump~
A body or something resembling it hitting her like a truck, motioning the small girl to a knee hoisted up only by a lean extended arm. "Hey watch it!" Violet would shoot in a hasty tone.

Melanie looked out the window, her face drawn in a permanent frown. Why have they brought me here? What did i do? It was an accident. I didn't mean to hurt anyone... well, i guess that's not quite accurate. I meant to hurt him, but i didn't mean to kill him. I meant to hurt him and to scare him into leaving me alone. Now i guess he will. Whatever. He got what he deserved. My dad didn't though. He was knifed to death on the way home from work. Someone killed him just to get the fifty dollars in his wallet. My dad knew i didn't mean to kill the kid. He knew i wouldn't do that. He just didn't know how to respond. I know he loved me. It has just been hard for him ever since mom....
Back to the current situation. I have been sent here to PHS #259 by my foster parents. They found out i accidentally killed a kid and sent me here. They didn't know how i did it, thank god! So here i am waiting to be released from my captors. Sent out into this world of murderers, delinquents, thieves, and then me. What did I need to be here for? I made one mistake. These people have made many. As i looked out on the courtyard leading to the front of the school, there were a few students in groups, some wearing the full uniform, some wearing partial, and some wearing none. Most were smoking. Great.
"Ok Melanie, Don't forget to grab your--" My step father started. "Yeah. Whatever Franklin. I know what i need for school." I snapped back cutting him off. "You shouldn't speak to your father that way." My step mother scolded me. "HE ISN'T MY FATHER, HILLARY!" I yelled back and slammed the door. "My father is dead." I whispered to the closed door and turned to face my new prison. This fucking place though... This place would be hell. I made my way through the people, trying to find the ever so illusive registry office. Occasionally having to step around smoke clouds and over legs, I finally grasped the handle to the front door when i heard the sound of a fight followed by a protest. Some one wasn't supposed to be there. Turning around, I saw a girl get pushed down by the flying body of another kid. Great. This school just got better and better.
Melanie made her way back over to the front of the courtyard to hoist the girl off the ground if she wasn't up by the time Melanie got there. "Hi. I'm Melanie Ross [[Pronounced Rose]]. I am new here. On my way to the Registry Office. You okay? This school... Doesn't look like much yet."

~Moar Musix~
Oof, pain much. She wasn't too familiar with the ground here or very much the land as it were something that came with moving away from home for the first time everything felt different, tasted, weighed just off. There wasn't much in the way of explaining these sorts of things in normal contexts and she wasn't too happy about it either. A smothered grimace fighting back the urge to defensively cry Violet would manage to push herself up with the aide of a disembodied arm at her side. In a haze Violet didn't much figure just what had happened only meagerly grappled to her feet turning to the frenzied sort of voice at her side slowly bringing herself out of shock.
"Hey", The girl would mouth in a somewhat hazy tone having still the bite from her previous comment trying to come to bare. "Violet, or uh just call me Vi." Violet would say with a shrug retaining her arms from the blonde figure that'd come to her aid. Dusting herself off she slowly recognized what the girl had actually said.
"Shoot! Registration that's right!" Vi would slap an open palm to her head. "I nearly forgot, I'm new here too."
Shaking her head the girl would lean over and shamble her book bag from the ground and rustling all her things into a shamble of their previous organization. It wasn't long before she realized just how long she'd been wavering perhaps for an offer or a sort of direction she was only on the first step to the school, there was a whole new world ahead of her here.

Melanie smiled as the girl took her hand and got up. She tried to help the girl pick up her things, but she seemed to have it handled. When the girl slapped her head Melanie laughed. She liked this girl already. Melanie looked around the courtyard for a teacher or someone who looked like they would help a couple of new kids. There didn't seem to be a lot of good choices here. "Do you know where the registration office is? I was just about to start wandering till i found it. Or maybe find a teacher...? Anyways, Violet. That's a nice name. Or well, Vi. that's cool too. My friends call me Little Rose."
Melanie stole another glance around the courtyard. Maybe they should go back to where she was headed?

No, honestly she had no idea where the registration office was. The only such experience she'd had with this school is driving by the previous weekend seeing it dead as all would have it. Back then it seemed so ideal and prosperous now she was having second thoughts, the welling fear culminating in her belly and giving her a certain sort of butterflies that could only be dealt with by a quick escape to the bathroom or better yet downing inordinate amounts of chocolate. Neither of these options sounded worthwhile now surrounded by the type of people she didn't want to look weak around, and besides she didn't have any chocolate on hand. A frumpy sigh would follow as Violet jostled her backpack's holster over a shoulder and straightened up to look something the sort of brave figure would taking in a first day's challenges.
"No, but I'm sure it wont be too hard to find unless of course this school has a penchant for sadism towards its new students." Violet would giggle to herself, a sort of nervous giggle hoping to God that by some chance that wasn't in fact a true statement. For a moment though her faux confidence would chase the errant butterflies away and she was strong enough to take the first steps up the schoolyard's entrance only to turn back with a grin.
"You coming?" A welcoming wave ushered towards Melanie, if all else failed she wouldn't be the only one lost in this labyrinth or torture. "Mind if I call you Rose? I'd feel weird calling you little..." especially considering that standing at their full heights Melanie almost seemed to tower over her.

Melanie giggled back at the the thought of someone trying to hurt her. She wasn't much to look at, but she had an arsenal of botanical weapons in her side satchel. "I don't think anyone is going to try to hurt either one of us. And even if they did, I doubt they could outlast me." Melanie shifted her satchel so her right hand fell over the top flap. Easy entry for her to pull out something if needed. Her mind ran over the contents of her satchel one more time before trailing after Vi.-3 Pepper bombs-2 Rose whips (Approx. 4.5 ft each)-10 large sharp burrs (Approx. 1 in Diameter)-6 dried Poison Ivy leaves ground into powder-3 vials of Lily of the Valley oil (plus 1 full stem on her shirt)Melanie knew how to use each one and what they would do. For the more poisonous items, she would use extreme caution as to not take someone's life again. Melanie smiled and jogged up to Vi. She was a perky one. Melanie felt almost like she wasn't at a bad school with Vi. It was like she was back at her old school and her father would pick her up after school. But she knew that wasn't the case. The truth was, she was here to be punished for killing that boy and she would never see her father again. Melanie would brush her depressing thoughts aside and beam at Vi. "Alright! Let's go get lost together then! There should be a teacher around here somewhere. Not quite sure where though. You'd think they'd be everywhere, 'specially in a school like this."

~La LaLA~
"I don't think anyone is going to try to hurt either one of us. And even if they did, I doubt they could outlast me."
Violet would return a faint smirk, of that matter she couldn't be so certain about. While Vi was certainly confident in her own ability to match a foe on even ground she wasn't so eager to be tempting fate. This school's reputation was that of reform as though there were a great many bodies requiring it, she hadn't even wrestled with the idea of having to come to terms with a physical display of force against a number of opponents. What if she had to join a gang? The mental image of a punked up version of herself leaped into her mind and quickly toppled her mental fortress of solitude. Oh no, No I can't get tatted up and wear an eye patch. Her figure turned grim with the notation of the mental struggle.
Violet's mental fortitude would only be reforged by the certainty in Melanie's voice as she seemed none to disheartened or disheveled from the idea that came with a rather brutish lifestyle that the pair were now introduced into. Biting her lip Vi would sober up trying to make the best attempt at a cool and collected person, as they say prison inmates could smell fear and she didn't want to look like an easy first blood here. Right. With a nod she'd proceed forward though the front doors and slowly engulfed by the static pattern of disorder that were those front doors.
"Ugh.... Wow." Eyes darting in a panicked fashion looking up any sort of headway to this place. There had to be a sign right? "Ummm Mel-er-Rose, Why did you come to this school?" Violet mustered up the courage to ask somewhat feeling a gulp in her throat tighten those last few words and possibly missed based on the low roar that came from their new habitat. "I'm sorry, feel free not to answer that if you don't want to, I hate to admit it but I'm a little nervous." Vi would come clean to what may end up being her first friend here with a silent twitch of her arms kneading into her pockets.

Melanie walked forward into the school completely unaware of Vi behind her totally wigging out about being jumped. It wasn't until she asked her about her past that Melanie noticed her insecurity. At first Melanie was angry and offended that she would ask such a question and whipped around to give the girl a huge piece of her mind. Upon seeing the girl's frightened face, her face softened into a calm smile. Not unlike a mother's to her child.
"Well, I was in a regular school until about a month ago. I accidentally killed another kid. See, my mom died when i was young and he was making fun of her death like she deserved it or something. I was almost fine until he called her a slut. I lost control and killed him. The next day my father was mugged and shot. My foster parents thought i was a bad person and sent me here. Kind of a long story, but that is what happened." Melanie paused. "I didn't mean to kill him. I just wanted to make him leave me alone. Like that one kid from the book 'Ender's Game.' I didn't mean to, i just went too far. My foster's never took the time to understand me. They just see me as an evil doer and punish me for it. Any way, What are you doing here? You don't seem the type to be sent here."

~Jams~
Violet heard the girl out and for a moment felt the urgency to flinch, take a step back, and maybe tuck turn and run. Though everything in her fiber told her that it was the fight or flight mechanism suggesting the best possible option for evading a dire scenario. That being said though her hesitation in the matter gave her an instance of clarity... Play dead? Yea something along those lines was her best decision here and now as Violet turned a sour grimace at the denotation of death of a small child, neigh of murder even if it were accidental.
"Urm...Well I don't quite know how to respond to that..." Violet would stand rather dumbfounded and ceasing her forward motion through the halls letting her mind wander somewhat aimlessly before coming along the only idea that could lend her some sort of levity to the situation. "Ah good joke Rose Hah!" With that she would fearlessly step forward and slap Melanie on the back jovially before squinting her eyes and progressing further not letting her mind delve on the uttermost dark depths and letting herself believe that Melanie was in fact a big prankster and not a murderer.
"A sarcastic comedian we have here, thanks for putting my mind at ease, nerves ovah!" Vi would laugh cheerfully bounding forward with more enthusiasm before turning a hand back to yank her new found acquaintance along for the ride.

Melanie waited as the girl digested her past. Her face darkened and she looked like she might run. Just before Melanie was about to turn and walk away, not giving her the option so many others had taken, the girl laughed and tried to play it off like she was joking. Why would someone joke about killing another, she didn't know. "Glad you are taking it lightly." Melanie would say confused. The girl must have been in denial. That's the only explanation for her actions.
Before she could linger more on her thoughts, Vi pulled her along into the school. OK then. Maybe they could talk about it later. If, she would listen later that is. It was really hard for Melanie to find friends that would trust her enough to stay. Most just thought as Vi had started to; 'Maybe she'll kill me too. I should run.' Whatever. Melanie didn't need friends. She was fine by herself.
"We still don't know where we are going Vi. Maybe we should look for a teacher?" She looked at the walls inside the school. There was graffiti everywhere and people all over the place. Some leaning against walls, others trying to get sodas from vending machines. And some with... Cotton Candy? Weird. Didn't know Cotton Candy came in vending machines. The way the guy was holding the candy made her uneasy.
As they continued on, Melanie saw a man who looked much older than the rest of the students. He looked mean, but maybe he could help?
"Excuse me, we are looking for the-" "Why are you not on your way somewhere?" The man shouted down to the girls. "Why are you standing in my hallways?! Get to class!" "Look here, Creepy! I don't know where my class is! Tell me where the Registry Office is and maybe I can rectify this situation. Try it again, old man!" The man just looked down at her his face turning beet red. He wanted to hit her. Anyone could see it, but she needed his help or she'd probably get in more trouble. "Down this hallway, last door on your left." He kept it short. "Next time, you're mine." He'd turn and leave, yelling at other kids to go to class and stop wandering the halls.
"OK! Let's go!" Melanie would lead pulling Vi this time.

~Shimmies~
That was one of Violet's marvelous pitfalls, she never took anything too seriously usually looking for a glamorous, shimmering outcome, ever the optimist often times she came to butt heads with the wrong sort of people oftentimes coming to the offbeat conclusion that there had been some errant miscommunication. Hopefully that wouldn't be the case here having hopefully dissuaded an awkward situation, but that was a conversation for another time perhaps when they were better settled in and not under certain threat of being jumped on the way to class.
Bounding resiliently through the halls without a twinge of fear, at least for the short term, Vi was stopped in her tracks at Melanie's mention of not having a clue as to where they were going. Oh.... Right there was that mild oversight. Coming to release Melanie's hand Violet would stare in silence at her fingers having pressed them together ponderously observing her surroundings as they seemed to deviate from the norm of casual school backgrounds into a wonderland of devious graffiti art and destruction. Yiiii.
Behind her there was the sudden interaction between Mel and a hulking figure with a domineering sort of voice that boomed at them. Whilst she seemed to be handling herself well enough Vi foolishly bounded in between them having missed the interaction entirely and pointing a daring finger into his face. "Begone knave! We shalt have none of your violence her-"
"OK! Let's go!" Violet's voice being cut off as Melanie would in turn by pulling her be grappling her and dragging the smaller girl behind her in tow. A look of embarrassment crossing her features as she turned a shade of pink crossing her arms in defiance. No next time you're mine big man. "Hold me back" Vi would whimper under her breath making sure that unless Melanie was keen on hearing it it was for the most part silent all the while being a willing victim of her drag.

Melanie just shook her head at Vi talking to the teacher like a page boy. If Melanie wasn't there, Vi might have gotten hurt. She made her way down the hall, oblivious to Vi barely being able to keep up. upon making it to the door, Melanie would give the handle a hard turn and hold the door open for Vi. "After thee, my fair Lady!" If she were going to be all weird and using old English, she would too. She would hold out her hand for Vi to walk past before walking in herself.
The room was small but still big enough even if it was full, you wouldn't feel crowded. The woman behind the counter helping them and giving them their schedules and a map each of the school, before sending them back into the hallway. "So, were you going to head for the cafeteria to get breakfast, or are you just going to go to class?" Melanie asked Vi as she looked over the map finding the class and the cafeteria and then looking back up to Vi.

~Mad Hatter~
Violet was a little bit slow to respond but sooner than not she was up at her feet and trudging in slow pursuit of Melanie keen to keeping her cool even though she was a bit sporadic at the moment, probably not the best inclination towards a new acquaintance and potential friend but mamma always said that there was no sense in deceiving people from your true nature as they were bound to find out eventually. A mild shrug as she followed to a doorway which would return to her a mild sort of taunt as she would perceive it from Mel, but a girl could play along.
"My hero! Verily that door woodith have slammeth in thy face if I were....ummm." She'd react with twerking wrists flailing them in their limpness to exert a sign of weakness.
Just inside the scenery seemed to shift, no longer a daunting or intimidating shamble of students and desolated walls instead it seemed to be a very small even quaint sort of structure. Happily leaning over towards the desk she'd of course inquire about her status as well as Melanie's so they could get their regular classes in order and better yet get a feel for this whole alien environment that they'd stepped into.
"So, were you going to head for the cafeteria to get breakfast, or are you just going to go to class?"
A bit of drool would foam in the corner of Violet's mouth as she considered what kind of meal programs this school had. Like dumplings dancing in her head there was a myriad of platters parading through her imagination. Though in all honesty she couldn't be late to class on her first day. Weakly grasping at her wrist she'd lean against the desk and struggle with the debate.
"Sigh... I suppose I should go to class, although I would kill for a burger right about now." Those stress munchies were acting up and eating away at her insides building room for new tenants.

Melanie grinned at the girl joking back. She liked her she was definitely playful. Melanie would giggle at the girl obviously REALLY wanting food but resigning herself to needing to go to class. She really hoped Vi was overplaying on acting like she needed food. "Maybe we could just run by a vending machine? I saw them everywhere. Some looked like they had GOOD stuff in them. If not the cafeteria, then maybe that." Melanie was just too caring. She guessed it was because of her father teaching her to be kind. She definitely had a mom complex, but Vi shouldn't be skipping breakfast. Like people always say, 'Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.'
Melanie would wait for the girl to decide, but one thing was for sure, she was not going to let Vi go to class without SOMETHING to eat first.

~Mad Hatter~
Triggered.
You see Violet had a number of trigger words that caused her to dilapidated into a drooling mess. Breakfast was one of them, but for that matter so was Lunch and Dinner. Hunching over slowly with drool foaming out of her mouth Vi would look something like a rabid dog as a mad glint took over her eyes. "You'd do that, really do that?!" That mad shimmer taking an inhuman form about seemingly giving off an aura of its own as Vi latched out to Melanie desperately. "You're such a good friend, heh heh hah hah." Violet would stagger through bated breath getting a damned good grip on Melanie's sleeve before locking eyes with her and with a Cheshire grin turn and run full speed with a vice-like clamp around Melanie's clothes hopefully taking her with Vi to the nearest source of food be it vending machine or cafeteria. At least Vi hoped Melanie was along for the ride, if not then her clothes certainly may be....
Once reaching the nearest vending machine Vi would act animistic as she'd just shy of grope the machine top to bottom seemingly missing all sense of human motor functions before pawing the keypad and looking up. I need.... moneys. Her face shifting upwards towards hopefully whatever she ended up dragging in her wake be it Melanie, her clothes, or some random citizen caught up in this frantic charge. "Yum yums....?" Vi would make out a kitten like demeanor pleading upwards.
