Arathorn gave her a minute after she had finished to see if she wished to add anything on to that, but all he saw was lip being bitten caused by a so-far successful attempt at restraint.
His salad was about a quarter of the way through, but he pushed it to the side for now. His hands clasped back together and were laid down on the table, making somewhat of a triangular shape with his arms, the edge of the table being the base of the triangle. They were close enough that she could easily put her hands on his, but far enough away from her that they didn't invade any personal space. He looked into her eyes, and with an unfeeling voice, he softly spoke to her. "I haven't known you for very long. It's hardly been more than two hours," he paused a second to look at his watch before continuing, "But, within these past two hours, I have felt more peace than I can ever remember, and I have made more of a friend in you than I have with anyone." This, again, was said with a tone in his voice as if he were talking about something that was just a concrete fact, unable to ever be changed. "Because of that, I offer to you my ears, ones that are ready to listen to you. You can talk to me, and you can trust me, should you ever need to. I'll be here for you." Then Arathorn seemed to have a face of thought for a moment, with which he said, "I do believe I've heard a song like that.." A quick tune popped into his head. He couldn't quite place it. It was from a television show. Funny, he actually thought he recalled that it had to do something with friends, such as the subject matter at hand. "Well anyway, understand that you can talk to me with complete security." When he said this to her, he made sure that his voice didn't sound pushy. There was no hidden message of "Tell me. Now." behind it. He meant what he said and said what he meant. However, his eyes were not as silent. He looked at her in such a way that said to her that he understood she was hiding something, but at the same time they showed that he was okay with her doing that. Of course, having not really interacted with other people much in the past, he didn't realize that he was probably moving a bit too fast, and getting a bit too personal. It wasn't really something a normal person would say after knowing someone for only an hour.
However, he honest to goodness just wanted her to know he was there.
