I've Got This... (Leon/Mission)

[Bailey Oleander]

"I see." No wonder he was troubled, then. Bailey frowned slightly, but decided not to pry further with his being upset. Instead, she'd focus on the sounds below.

"Looks like our next way is down." She'd make her way to the trap door.

[Leon]

Alex would put his glasses back on and nod. He felt his abilities would be useless from this point forward and would rely on his mind following Bailey.

She would find the door openable with a short staircase, though there was an odd pale blue luminescence coming from below. Upon further investigation she would find a huge fucking crystal siding on a rotating metal pedestal making squeaking noises that was glowing. Bailey could sense an immense amount of energy coming from the crystal.

Alex moved to what looked like pre war computer technology that wasn't working.

"Of course it doesn't work."

[Bailey Oleander]

"Whoah." That pretty much summed up Bailey's feelings on the matter. It was huge, it was a shiny crystal, and it fucking glowed.

"That's definitely it, whatever it is." She'd take a step towards the crystal, mesmerized for a moment like a moth to a bug lamp. She'd never seen anything like it. But there was still something important that Alex was addressing that held her attention: what did it do?

She'd make her way over to the computer as well, tapping a finger against her thigh.

"We might be able to work around that, actually. We just need to see what else is intact." She'd turn her attention back to the crystal and begin looking for any energy flows that lead away from it, hopefully to the backup power source that had it moving.

"Do you have any idea what it does?"

[Leon]

Alex would look around as well, but the energy was too great to make out what she was looking for. However with the naked eye one could see a cable on the ground connected to the podium it sat on and trailing to what appeared to be a Tesla coil in a far side of the room away from the computer.

[Bailey Oleander]

"Here." Bailey would point out the cable running to the coil on the opposite side of the room and begin to approach it like a boss, relying on good ol' vision that probably wouldn't make her feel burned out. Haha.

She took off her glasses to clean them! The rooms were old and the bright light brought out every smudge on them. She'd look into the lenses after to make sure they were clean in the vivid bloom light of doom.

"I imagine that's where it comes from, anyway. Or the next part of it."

[Leon]

Alex would look up from the relic of ancient times before him and spot what she was talking about. Rushing over...

"That... That looks like a prototype Qi Engine. The stuff that was made before we harnessed pure energy based on Qi principals."

[Bailey Oleander]

"Really?" She brightened a bit at the mention of the prototype engine, knowing that they required a charge to keep going when they were first being made.

"So then either they intended to come back at some point and keep working on...whatever this is, or powered it to keep going without them." Or they came back to charge it, depending on how long it lasted.

[Leon]

"Well problem being... Those weren't even started on until the last few years of the war."

Alex mentioned kind of ponderous in it.

"What are they doing to the crystal? Can you sense anything from the engine? Is it charged?"

[Bailey Oleander]

That did present a problem.

Bailey takes a look at teh engine to see if something's changed!

[Leon]

That engine dry as a bone!

[Bailey Oleander]

"It's completely dry." Bailey shakes her head.

[Leon]

"Thats frustrating."

Alex would scratch his head.

"Where do we get the juice for this? What where they doing? This just applies MORE questions."

[Bailey Oleander]

"Hmmmmm." Bailey pulls out the diagram again and points to some of the way stations and towers that were marked.

"What if there's more than one engine?" It wouldn't solve how it got there, but if this was dry, then there had to be others. Either that, or the crystal was its own source of energy, but so far she didn't think so.

[Leon]

"Should we send a report back for a bigger research team, or find engines on our own?"

The soldier sent with them was sitting on the roof just kind of messing with the tree branches.

[Bailey Oleander]

"At this point, I think it's best we request a bigger team. We don't know how many of them are out there, and you did mention that underground is pretty expansive."

Poor soldier boy is tired of nerds. She does stop to look up at the tree. Do the branches lead up to the trap door?

"...Why is there a tree underground?"
