Too Much (Open)

[Bailey Oleander]

A lot of the questions Bailey had were on pause as she absorbed Leon's words, brows knitting together as the frown returned again, only to turn into a lip bite as she weighed just how heavily the energy needed might cost.

"What about the energy from sacrificing a soul?"

[Leon]

Leon's eyes would narrow and focus at that question.

"I have suspected taking the entirety of a person's energy, their soul. Would be a massive amount of energy. However, those questions are best for people who use such things. I would only be able to guess."

[Bailey Oleander]

She let out a breath she didn't realize she'd been holding.

"It's likely the case, at least for that part of the area. I've suspected ever since it was mentioned. It was mentioned that one of the computers had a file mentioning it in the facility, and you saw the tree that was next to the crystal." Sometimes she hated the own truth of her words: people didn't need to have qi to be monsters.

She looked down at her hands for a moment, lost in thought, then looked back at Leon.

"Commander, why was I allowed to bring them all the way to Cabal, just to have someone else take over and take them away?" They could have had the newest members take Bailey's jeep back with her and someone else drive them away. They could have been told then, not when they arrived back to a place she'd started to think of as home.

[Leon]

Leon's face would soften for a moment.

"Because... You are not a monster. This world doesn't need monsters. Peace can not be maintained between monsters. To commit a monstrous act, monsters are required. After discovering them, we could not let them go free, and we could not trust anyone else to do what needed to be done..."

Leon would look away as he took a breath, though he had conviction it didn't change the way he felt about the wanton slaughter of innocent non-combatants.

"Or are you saying that if I told you of their fate, even after rushing out of my office to fight unknown odds to stop it, you would of done it yourself, or allowed it to happen?"

[Bailey Oleander]

Bailey's own expression softened at the words used. Despite the ache, she pulled her knees up to her chest beneath the blankets, arms looping around them as she listened and saw his own pain.

"No," she said softly. "I wouldn't have been able to do it." Not to do it herself, or to allow it to happen. She didn't know what to expect, what the odds were going to be. She just knew she had to stop it, somehow.

"Do we have any information already on what you're looking for? Records for a year and eleven years ago?" She really didn't want to thin on that topic for too long. She deflated just thinking about it.

[Leon]

"Very little. Mathew Amtrum, The Earth Dragon died. We assume it was the same assassins that killed his family the year prior. The means of how are the curious part. While there is no shortage of a list of people who would want to do it, there is however no such list of people capable of doing it."

He ignored the eleven year ago comment.

[Bailey Oleander]

"And you think these files will have names, or a means to point in the right direction?" Dragon business. Experiments, gods, monsters. The list of things in her life was growing. For now, she leaves the missing statement about the other files alone.

[Leon]

Leon would fold his arms.

"Without confirmation from a God on her way to the site now I can't be sure. But if soul energy is involved, its one of the few ways I assume someone could of pulled off what they did. If there is... It would be in those files, would be my guess."

[Bailey Oleander]

"I see." Bailey nodded in agreement, noting that a god was already on the way to the facility, or would be.

"And the older files?"

[Leon]

"Plans... Plans that could of only existed in secret. Plans I know were not carried out by my known enemies."

Leon's eyes would become rather sharp with rage, the golden qi collar and bracelets becoming visible.

"And when I find these plans and who was behind them, no restraints will keep me."

[Bailey Oleander]

There was a moment of silence with his words where Bailey withdrew further from nothing else other than the rage she felt emanating off of his. Still, her gaze remained on him; she did not look away from what he was showing, and thus saw the bracelets and collar, too.

"I will keep an eye out for them," she promised. So many secrets, but it was time to distract Leon before the rage grew futrher.

"So who's going to the facility now? You mentioned a god was already on the way?"

[Leon]

Leon would let the rage subside, the qi restraints slowly vanishing from sight as if they didn't even exist as he took a deep breath.

"Chyron. The Ferryperson of souls across the River Styx. If she says there are souls or the energy of souls there, we know we are on the right path. This news also calmed Krane down to go to his room and rest."

[Bailey Oleander]

That would make sense, then. Bailey nodded, relieved that the restraints vanished and letting her limbs slowly ease back to a relaxed position.

"It sounds like she would know best then." She shook her head at the mention of Krane. If he kept it up, he'd need his own personal qi healer just to make it there.

"There is something else, as well," she continued as her voice grew quieter. "If it's alright, where are the remains? I understand if you had to dispose of them, but I'd like to say goodbye." In her own way.

[Leon]

He would nod at her request.

"Currently they are in a morgue as their grave sight is being prepared. They are to be buried in the memorial cemetery for the war as they will be counted as casualties of The War for Power."

[Bailey Oleander]

"So then they're nearby." She was guessing, at least. Cabal wouldn't want them to be left to just anyone, though her expression eased at his explanation.

"Thank you." Another moment's pause as she shifted.

"Is that really what's happened to all the known experiments? Either death, or locked away?"
