The Still of the Night [David]

[Kyrie Blaze]

”...what sort of problems?”

Might as well know. She was trying to compile all the information, as it was.

[David B.]

David spoke next to her.

"We don't know. Caused this place to shake. Caused parts of it to vanish. There used to be more bodies, more soldiers. We don't know what will happen if..."

He gestured.

[Kyrie Blaze]

"Well then, no touching until this is figured out."

She glanced between the two before giving the monolith a once-over from this normal plane. She felt as though the chains and stone she held were connected, as was this separation. Instinct told her to crush the rock...but not without knowing more. So, she had to first examine the erected stone to see if there was anything she could see while on this normal plane, or...

Perhaps like finding this stone, what she needed would be on the other side.

For the taller parts, shadow pushed from the bottom of her feet so she was essentially standing on stilts.

Oh, the joys of being short. And it wasn't like either of the two images of David could give her a lift, being locked up and locked down.

[David B.]

As she rose, both Davids watched her. As she got closer, she'd notice the giant stone was fuzzy, like things would be in a dream.

"Uh, I wouldn't! Lotsa bad stuff comes from that thing."

[Kyrie Blaze]

"I was not planning on touching it. But, what sort of bad things, now that we happen to be on the topic?"

Might as well find out. And judging by the general blurr surrounding the stone...she figured the shadow plane would be where she'd find her answers. But for now she would wait.

[David B.]

"Uhh, some dark ass shit. I'd rather not relive it again, if you don't mind."

Chained David folded his arms.

"I fear no past. Touch it."

[Kyrie Blaze]

Memory, maybe?

Kyrie gave a soft hum, not yet ready to comply and touch the stone; no. Instead, she slipped into the shadows as planned, and took a look at the monolith from there. Any clearer?

[David B.]

She would notice nothing different from the shadows. The monolith was clearly part of this world.

[Kyrie Blaze]

Well.

In that case...Kyrie takes a look around to see if anything else was out of place, or different. Perhaps there'd be no choice but to touch the monolith, but she wanted to make sure it would be after exhausting other options.

[David B.]

Kyrie didn't notice much else- everything was moving slow motion as it had since she'd entered the dream, but it was so slow the tornado had barely moved down out of the sky, so she clearly had plenty of time.

[Kyrie Blaze]

Kyrie frowned! Then, she reverted herself to the normal world.

"Well, brace yourselves."

With no hesitation and no further warning, she pressed her hand to the monolith!

[David B.]

It hummed violently as her hand made contact, and the stone in her palm began to burn very hot for as long as she touched it! It would start to glow as well, and time was beginning to speed up around her the longer she held on!

[Kyrie Blaze]

That could be a very wild ride.

An eyebrow lifted and Kyrie waited a few moments to see what would happen, and a glance around herself told her quite a bit of what she needed to know. Her hand lifted off after those brief moments and she looked between the two Davids - providing both were there - and that pale brow remained lifted.

"...so... Do you suppose you may have constructed this as a way to stave off reliving the past?" She addressed the David she'd first encountered. "Either consciously, or, I suspect...unconsciously?"

It seemed he didn't quite want to remember things, even going so far as to say he didn't want contact with the 'old' version of himself that was chained down, and again in regards to the monolith itself. She had a feeling...she would have to subject them both to this, and more, if there were more in connection with the monolith.

[David B.]

"Maybe...."

He took a slow and deep breath.

"This place....it was to be my end. Or was my end. Every warrior says they don't fear death, but that fear is what keeps us alive and fighting. Death is death- it means the end of everything, right?"

He stuck his hands in his pockets.

"I'm no coward...but if I have to choose, I'd choose to live. And being with him-"

He looked at chained David.

"-is not the way to make that happen."

[Kyrie Blaze]

Kyrie had to bite her tongue a moment.

Literally.

Then she inhaled slowly, the stone still clutched firmly in her hand despite the heat previously rolling off it.

"And is it not the way to make it happen..?"

Might as well ask and find out.
