The Still of the Night [David]

[Kyrie Blaze]

Kyrie couldn't make a decision for him...and everything she said could perhaps be a hard pill to swallow. So for now she stayed quiet.

But...

"...I wonder..."

[David B.]

He looked up.

"Hmm...?"

She wondered....what?

[Kyrie Blaze]

Kyrie's eyes closed a moment, then slowly opened.

"What would be happening right now, in this situation, if our positions were reversed." Her head tilted, just slightly. "What do you think you would do?"

[David B.]

David searched her eyes. Then looked back to the dying David, then the chained one. Three parts of the whole. He'd offer a small if somewhat unsure smile.

"I know what we all would want. And I can't argue with your reasoning."

He grin broadly as the madness took over.

"Okay Kyrie...lets do it."

[Kyrie Blaze]

Kyrie searched his eyes in turn. It was the unsure smile that prompted her to reach out, reach up, and touch his jaw, understanding.

His response had her swallowing slowly and taking a slow breath.

"...alright. We need to figure out the best way to sort this out...with the least amount of time to subject you to all that agony."

[David B.]

"It's simple."

He pulled aside his jacket....where a piece of his flesh was missing in the exact shape of the stone.

"Just put that here."

[Kyrie Blaze]

...well then.

Kyrie eyed the hole a moment before shaking her head slightly. Before doing so, however, she reached up and lightly drew him down into a brief kiss...and at the end but before pulling away, she slid the stone into place.

[David B.]

He gladly accepted it, closing his eyes to meet it. As the stone was put into place, he broke the kiss, head rearing back in a silent scream- he looked exactly like the screaming David beside him. His arm raised in exactly the same fashion....then he was jerked backward, his body slamming into the chained David, who's chains shattered as the two David's fused. He too fell into an identical scream as he was jerked forward to slam into the original screaming David....and time began to speed up, until they were in the present.

And in a flash, the tornado smashed into them all, and David would be ripped apart like a fucking paper tiger.

And Kyrie woke up.

She was still standing there, but now felt very tired and sore. Like she'd been standing there for several hours. David was laying in the bed, on his back....deep asleep. He didn't seem in pain, though...and she actually felt the room was quite...peaceful.

It was all she could do to hope things would turn out alright...

...and that if their situations were to ever be reversed, that he'd push her just as she pushed him.

He would.

Just watching things as they unfolded lanced through her at the keen memory of it all, and the next thing she knew it was like she was suddenly slammed back into her physical body. Her eyes snapped open and the blonde swayed in place with a couple shaky breaths. Well...

Blue eyes roamed to look at the sleeping David, who seemed peaceful, breathing evenly. She felt...about how she had early on in her recovery. Easily tired and worn. Still, she forced herself to stand a little while longer, though her eyelids drooped a bit. The space even felt calmer, but she wouldn't know with one hundred percent certainty until he woke up.

[David B.]

It would be a couple of hours until he woke...but as his eyes slowly opened, David would sit up and put a hand to his forehead.

"Ugh...I have a splitting headache."

[Kyrie Blaze]

She probably could have pushed herself to stand, but, first decided to move the chair from the desk and sit. Kyrie managed to stay mostly awake for some time, but exhaustion soon began to dominate everything. The second time she jerked temporarily awake by a head bob, she finally gave in and moved to curl up on the bed next to him.

She seemed slow to stir after David sat up with a groan, but her eyes cracked open to slits.

"...that is not surprising..." She murmured, not yet moving.

[David B.]

He looked down at her, then the room.

"Kyrie....what happened?"

He shook his head, then flexed his fingers as a slightly surprised look creased his face.

"I'm....back?"

[Kyrie Blaze]

"...it started with Asiv removing those bracelets the other day..."

She curled inwards a moment, scrubbing at her face, and then slowly stretched and twisted, moving overly sore muscles that had remained in the same position since the moment she fell asleep.

"...you had a nightmare and woke up... You remembered me for a moment, then something changed. You fell, hit your head, and did not, again. You fell back asleep...and after I fixed things up a bit, you reached out and grabbed my wrist, and pulled me in to your dream. I do not know how." She yawned, finishing sitting up, herself. "But...you were fragmented, and the short version of that part is I convinced you that you were better off whole, despite having to go through agony to get there."

[David B.]

David turned to look at her....searching her eyes.

"I see...I mean, I remember it all, other than the dream but....I feel different."

He cracked his neck.

"Whole indeed."

[Kyrie Blaze]

She was obviously tired, but relieved; relief to a depth she readily displayed, and wound up leaning lightly against his shoulder with her head tipped upwards slightly.

"It still may take a while...you have been wearing those bracelets for the better part of ten years... But, I am glad you feel whole."
