"Meh, Basically. I mean, I don't mind telling you, but if the knowledge went to the wrong place we could lose our powers so....no bueno."

He'd step outside, the sun bright as it came down upon them both.

"Why are you so interested?"

[Stevie-Rae]

“I don’t want to get you in trouble. Not that a big guy like you couldn’t handle your own in a fight. Well, to be honest, I have considered that since Krane was... well. I don’t know. Maybe I don’t need to ask. I’m not exactly Goddess material here.”

Stevie would follow Baldur into the sun and squint up.

“You know, the sun didn’t really seem all that bright before. Reminds me of Texas. I miss it.”

She’d put her hands up and spin, soaking up the suns rays.

"Krane was not a God. He was the Kraken."

He faced forward, leaning back against the building now.

"And he was but a child compared to us."

[Stevie-Rae]

Stevie slowed to a stop in her spinning.

“But he was the Kracken. Was he not a...”

She trailed off.

[Baldur Odinson]

He shook his head.

"Kranes story is a sad one. Zeus, the petty fool, cursed Krane to never get his godhood. While many feared the title of Kraken, inside the Godhood....it was seen as a title meant to ridicule. He gave Krane his Armor to add insult to injury and sent him here, to this school."

He looked back to her, his eyes a piercing green.

"It's why I'm here. To find what Krane had here, and why he died to protect it."

[Stevie-Rae]

Stevie sat on a bench and raised her head back to the sun, eyes closed.

“I wasn’t in that battle. I don’t know exactly what happened. Just that some asshoke blew up and Krane with him. He was a good fighter and was a great leader. That’s all he was to me. A pupil. I was school police captain and he was School Commander. I didn’t know much about why he did what he did. He was a soldier and did what he did.”

Stevie shrugged, eyes still closed. The sun was amazing. Without thinking about it, Stevie took off her blouse, revealing a white bikini top.

Baldur watched, eyes flickering with some mirth. She didn't know it, but being in his presence, outside, in the summer.

Well.

Bitches loved summer.

"These things I know. He proved himself worthy of a God's death. Instead....his ashes will remain with his father, and his name will likely vanish from the annuls of history."

[Stevie-Rae]

Stevie opened her eyes slightly to peek at Balder from the corner of her eye. That much he knew. Hmm. There was something in his eyes.

“Sorry. Should I put my shirt back on?”

Her cheeks began to redden.

“I haven’t seen this much sun, this warm and bright since Texas.”

She started to reach for her shirt.

"It is up to you, but please, do not take to shame on my account. I favor as much contact with the light bringer as I can. As I said before- I am mostly naked, when I am home. The more, the merrier."

He grinned, showing his pearly whites around his beard. He questioned to himself how old she must be. This was a school, right? It would not be proper to admire the bust of a teenager, after all.

"What good will understanding Krane bring you, hm? Would you see him brought back to life?"

[Stevie-Rae]

Stevie-Rae smiles and dropped the shirt. Maybe he liked what he saw.

“I might like to see that.” She whispered under her breath. “It really doesn’t bother me one way or the other. I don’t care to understand him. The only reason I brought him up was because well. Maybe I envied his ability. Maybe I saw his Godhood, or whatever you call it, and I wanted to do the same. I have always loved helping people. Maybe that way, if I was a Goddess, I could. Maybe I just want to be admired. Maybe I’m just a stupid woman in search of things far beyond her stupid reach.”

Disgust. That was a feeling Stevie barely ever felt for herself.

He stared her full in the eyes.

"Ask nicely, and Perhaps I'll take you one day."

That's right, he heard her.

"As for what you ask....that kind of power can corrupt, and it does for most. Besides....you are already a Goddess. What purpose does power serve?"

An easy smile.

Stevie was shocked he had heard. Her cheeks before were reddened, but now? They blazed. It was all she could do to not whisper back ‘please show me’. As it were he was speaking and she would listen. She was about to argue the point when he said she already WAS a goddess. She couldn’t help the grin that crosses her face.

“I’m not a Goddess. I’m a girl. I’m 26 years old and all I have to show for it are a few scars and anger issues. Doesn’t exactly sound like Goddess potential to me.”

[Baldur Odinson]

He waved it off.

"We are not fools. We know that we are not undying, immortal Gods. At least, I myself have not yet consumed that kool aid. It's far more than our power that makes us Gods. And, of course, a touch of the divine. You clearly have that part down."

He winked. He still hadn't addressed what it was he thought she was asking, because he wasn't sure she actually was.

Did this one think to outright ask to become a God?

“A touch of the divine?”

Stevie’s head turned full to face Baldur. The shock was not hidden. What did that even mean? What she was pretty? Great. How did that place someone in the right place to claim a Godhood? What even...?

“Ok. How?”

He pushed off the wall. He was glad she dropped the shirt. He liked the view.

“Everyone has a touch of it in them. Humanity is underrated. We Gods are the way we are because we’ve lost our meaning. What we fail to recognize is that death gives it to us. Things taste better and the light feels warmer when you know time is finite. Godhood rips that away from you. food becomes ash in your mouth. Sex is top to bottom better as a human, unless you invest the time. Wine holds a richness we Forget.”

He gestured at her.

“Try to argue differently, if you can.”
