[Marin]

This was the first gift she'd ever gotten that was only hers, and she loved it. More than anything else in the world.

Which is why when she set it down and found it was being taken over by yucky ants (she hasn't been here long but she swiftly discovered BUGS were the worst thing ever), her temper flared! Armed with a magnifying glass that another kid had shown her could BURN THINGS with the right sunlight and angle, Marin started wreaking havoc upon the ant population of the yard.

She found your base, scum. Now burn.

It was madness. The ants were surely praying to their God, begging to know why they were being punished. But all they received was Marin's disapproval.

"...Bad..." she mumbled, basically starting a small fire.

Rai would be walking by when he smelled something burning. Out of curiosity he checked on the smell, and came upon a little girl with a teddy bear and a magnifying glass.

"Uhm... What are you doing out here little miss?"

[Marin]

Marin gazes at the ants like the scum they are for a few more seconds before looking up at the stranger.

Her lips curl up in a smile, and she points down at her carnage for him to see! Very proudly.

Look! Look!

Rai, very confused, walked over to look at the death and destruction of ants this little girl had caused. Now, slightly concerned Rai would look at the girl and ask.

"So, uhm, where are your parents little one?"

Rai would ask as he scanned the surrounding area.

[Marin]

She doesn't seem to understand his reaction so she remains unconcerned with her cruel judgement.

Rai sees no one of note. At least no one who looks like they're watching over this child. After his question, Marin would open her mouth and take a breath, then shake her head.

"No."

Hm. Hold on she can probably say more.

"No parents."

[Raikotsu Sudeki]

He turned back to look at the girl with sadness in his eyes. Yet another young orphan due to the tragedies of war and genocide... No wonder she was out here destroying ants with such prejudice, for her, this was just how the world worked.

"I'm... so sorry to hear that. What is your name little one? My name is Raikotsu, but you can call me Rai."

He smile and hold out his hand for a handshake.

[Marin]

As a strange response, Marin would lean forward with her face and sniff his hand. Like a dog thinking it's being offered food.

She pulls back when she realizes there's nothing there.

"Rai. Rai." she repeats twice, before pointing to herself.

"Mah. Rin. Marin. Hello."

Rai raised an eye-brow as she sniffed his hand. This girl was quite the interesting sort.

"Hello, Marin, and where are you from?"

The girl looked like she might be hungry, or maybe the fact she sniffed his hand had him concerned that she might be willing to bite him if he smelled like food... but he remembered that he had some dried fruit bars left from his run in with Atlas. Pulling one out he would offer some to Marin.

[Marin]

Marin snatches the snack before he can fully offer it, then holds it to her chest protectively.

No take backs.

"Cold place..." she says, furrowing her brows. She can't remember if she ever heard what it was called. "Before that...not cold. But with master...very cold."

Rai slowly pulled his hand back and held open to let he know he wasn't going to try and take it from her.

"A cold place... Hmmm... and you said Master, do you know your Master's name? Or where they are?"

If she didn't have any parents then whoever this Master of hers was must be her guardian or protector... at least, he hoped that was the case...

[Marin]

Not at all.

She gives a little shrug, tearing into the dried fruit bar.

"No...just master. Still at cold place..." she says with her mouth full.

Rubbing his chin Rai would think of what to do in this situation... Last time he saved a young child they died while he was taking care of them... he didn't really feel like experiencing such a thing twice...

"Well, where are you heading young Marin? Would you like some assistance in reaching your destination?"

[Marin]

She tilts her head.

"Live here now."

As far as she knew, anyway.

"Someone took me here. So this is where I live. Because of this."

She opens her palm, letting the crumbs on her hand suddenly burst into flames!

Ah, that makes some sense now.

"Ah, so someone brought you to Cabal because of your abilities. That makes sense... Have you been to the academy yet?"

[Marin]

She gives a kind of shrug.

"A bit..."

She's explored as much as a lost eight-year-old could.
