Mental Information

Personality: Marin has a cheerful disposition and despite being well in her teens, she still acts pretty childish. She uses swear-words on a whim, insulting people but not sounding like she means to. It just seems like calling people a bastard is a term of endearment when coming from her. Maybe she just never learned what the words meant…but she certainly hears them thrown around a lot.

She likes to push people’s buttons, but will become confused when they get genuinely mad and want to leave. Part of that is her understanding of social cues is a bit messed up, and the other part is she has some abandonment issues. Unfortunately she can’t be sensitive to most emotions and is more likely to gaslight you than comfort you.

History Information

History:

When Marin was young, she was taken away from her family and sold into slavery. For a while, her life consisted on competing with other meta children in working hard enough to gain their master's favour and eat that day. There were many days where she did not succeed, leaving her malnourished and a little feral. So long as she didn't talk back to the master, she was free of beatings, so Marin became nearly mute.

Marin's memories are fuzzy, but, she remembers setting fire to the manor she lived in and then being sold off to bandits. She was dressed nicely and taught to act helpless in order to trick well-meaning nobles into getting mugged. The better she did this, the more things she received.

She also learned words most children probably shouldn't and was exposed to some R-rated activities. She was luckily off-limits, but, she probably saw more rape and murder than any kid should have.

At some point she was taken again by a man who's face she can't remember. He took her to Cabal with a note expressing that she should not be sent back to her parents and to please care for her here. The first person she met was Rai, who promptly brought her to Krane. Krane then adopted her, and for a while was able to teach her to control her power and give her a stable environment.

But Marin had a way with letting fate drag her around. She wound up kidnapped and put in a boat, joined Valerian, and then the two were placed in the middle of a war between The Islanders and The Great Sea Coalition. They joined the latter and Marin eventually gained the favour of the Primordial Qi Beast, Ziz.

Her memory fades here as well. At some point she must have wandered off again and Marin would find herself in Territory 1. Without any real idea on how to get back home to her dad, Marin stayed here to this day.

Power

Qi Name: Hot and Cold

Strengths:
Marin's abilities all center around temperatures. Currently she’s only learned to create fire, but with some guidance could learn to freeze things as well. Marin’s power works by increasing and decreasing already-present temperatures to either worsen or lessen them, making her a great buffer or debuffer to those who use those related elements.

Weaknesses:
As she can’t create fire and ice from nothing, Marin’s powers rely heavily on the environment. While heat, cold and moisture isn’t very hard to come by, certain climates can make it much harder for her to fully use her powers. If she’s in a freezing place and tries to create fire, chances are she’ll only be able to elevate her own body temperature to stay alive, but nothing more.

Zero Ability:

Heat up! - Marin manipulates heat, able to either intensify fire or create it by raising heat levels on something (must be something that creates heat).

+ Intensify: Adds +16 of to fires or explosions in extra damage.

+ Combust: Marin raises heat levels on something to cause her energy +16 in fire damage as it bursts into flame!

Level 1:

Ice Needles - Marin can turn a source of water into spike shapes, causing her energy +12 in damage.

Level 2:

Cryostasis- Marin encases herself in an ice cocoon, shielding her from all damage types for up to her energy. She however becomes completely immobile and helpless and can only come out of this from thawing out (which, depending on temperatures…may vary. Or not happen at all.) or by being broken out by a hit that’s stronger than her energy level.

Level 3:

Soothing Warmth-Marin can raise her own or other people’s body temperatures to accelerate the healing of a wound by 30 + 12.

Inner Self: Can now, once a thread, Shift into their inner selves. This inner self has +10 in all stats for 4 posts (The inner self has the same personality it had when your character met them and must be played as such! For characters that died your inner self now has the lost trait that your character used to have!)

Force Sensitivity (UN-EVOLVED MUTATION): Your character is now sensitive to the flow of energy that makes up the universe. It can act as a danger sense, empathy check, or a guiding hand. The character must focus on the energy flow to gain any effects and the ability uses and gains UP normally.

Blessing of the Ziz - Marin found favor with, and was blessed by, The Ziz. The Primordial Qi Beast said to have been born on the Fifth day of Creation and given dominion of all that belongs in the sky. Despite being the youngest of the 3 Primordial beings it was said that the Ziz was given the Gift of Wisdom upon it's birth.

Gift of Wind: Marin can change the element of any of her abilities to Air. Slightly altering what her abilities do.

Gift of Wisdom: Marin randomly gains bits of wisdom from the Ziz making it so that she can happen to know knowledge that she normally wouldn't have access to. She can also re-roll any action once a thread must use secondary roll.

Mitsoumi can troll enemies by getting Marin out of an impossible situation once per thread

Mitsoumi can make Marin stronger adding +15 to any stat she chooses up to four times on a single stat. However every time she does she loses more of her mental capacity for the thread.

Mitsoumi can cover Marin in his Leather Armor making any damage she were to take from Qi attacks by 25% and increasing the output of her Qi attacks by 50% for four posts, once per thread.
