I have....what now? (Squadmates/assignment)

[John A. Downing]

John was supposed to be with two people. He'd been pretty quiet the last few weeks, training and trying to get himself up to snuff. He needed more of that but now, not just for himself. Sitting in the general quarters, where anyone could come to hang out or do research, he sat in a lounge chair reviewing the tape of his fight against Mathew.

An overwhelming defeat.

He leaned back, touching the scar on his chest left by the earth dragon. Looking out the window, he waited at the meeting place, knowing this is where they were supposed to introduce themselves to each other.

[Thorn Wyatt]

"Ouch."

Elias says, looking over John's shoulder at the television.

"He really stomped you, huh?"

[John A. Downing]

He sighed.

"Failure is always present on the path to success, and I always learn from defeat."

He turned off the TV, looking to Elias.

"You're my....squad. mate?"

John was not used to this in any way.

[Stigma Wyatt]

Rose would come running up, panting.

"I-I'm sorry! I'm here too!"

Not to interrupt. But she interrupts.

[Thorn Wyatt]

Elias just chuckles.

"If it makes you feel better, I've lost to him too."

Before he glances at Rose.

"Finally."

[John A. Downing]

"Losing is never the problem. I'm humble in victory and defeat. It's his cocky attitude I can't get over."

He looked up at the girl.

"Welcome, thanks for coming."

He sighed.

"I have to tell you both...I've never really worked well in teams. Not really....my thing."

[Stigma Wyatt]

"W-well it's easy to work with us! J-just do whatever Elias says!" she says cheerfully!

[Thorn Wyatt]

"He won't have it for long. I'm going to kill him."

Elias shrugs, since he'd said it matter of factly.

He turns and smiles at Rose's advice.

"That is the way we're used to working."

[John A. Downing]

His fingers tapped on a chair.

".....like I said, I don't really work well in groups."

Follow orders? John was a soldier, and he understood rank. But whoever this guy was, he didn't have any reason to follow him. He'd stare at him.

"I intend to take Mathew's life as well. I don't mind which of us does it first- dead is dead."

Rose is like the only one here not about that killing stuff. Unless it's just killing herself.

So she kinda looks around awkwardly.

[Thorn Wyatt]

"You do whatever you want."

Elias shrugs again. This is a pretty easy going squad already.

"If you kill him, you kill him. Doesn't matter to me."

[John A. Downing]

His brow twitched, and with it came a subject change.

"Elias....I've heard that name before. Don't you own some land? Why even stay at Cabal?"

[Stigma Wyatt]

"To be stronger."

That's the only real reason she ever got for being taken here with him.

[Thorn Wyatt]

As always, Rose seemed to know the answer before he even had to speak.

But he could still expand on it.

"There's a lot here we can learn from, since... home is a dump."

But it's getting better.

He gestured at Rose.

"And is she your girlfriend?"
