Ali hands out bread! Yay!
The path to another part of the territory wasn't just interesting, but fascinating in its own way. Battle mage or not, she couldn't help but be curious and want to know more about the snow that fell without a cold that seeped into her bones, or frosted breath that didn't burn her lungs. There were those that could cast illusions, but was this from qi energy that changed the land, or something else?
She felt more at ease around the women than one might expect, a comfort that matched hers with the warriors she'd met when in Aurora. It felt easier, too, to offer the woman a respectful bow with the sense of familiarity they had with one another than someone who looked down on her.
"I'm afraid not, but I am someone with interest in what happens here," she corrected with a shake of her head. It's a lot easier to leave it at that than try to talk about being a long-lost daughter. "What's happening with the village?"

The Valkyrie leader would nod and explain the details.
"Recently one of their warriors has passed on. Some Qi user there has used an odd power and has forced the warriors spirit to remain. The village has begun to rally behind this person and believe they will remain as a spirit army for their people. This has not just caused recklessness, but a loss of faith in the Gods. The person is also using their spirits as fuel for something, but we can not be sure. We do not want to use force."

"I see." It sounded messy, to put it simply. But whoever was causing the situation, they seemed to think there were ways to handle it other than force. At this point, she wasn't sure if that was the hope, or if it was truly possible. The redhead tilted her head back slightly at the thought.
"And I assume that we want to avoid being seen, as well?" Or at least recognized. Her father was able to remove his godly appearance at will, and she was hardly going to be recognized in her own mind.

She would nod with a slight tilt of her head.
"It would make things easier. We just need this resolved. If Hel finds out there is someone toying with the spirits of the realm, there will be problems."
Michael would nod.
"Best to avoid that. We will look into it."

"Understood." Ali nodded at the confirmation. She had to wonder what they would find and how much danger was needed before Hel got involved, but best not to find out.

Michael would lead the way to the side before his wings spread the six wrapping around them completely surrounding them and blocking out the light. Once it was all blocked, the wings would spread apart once more and they would be in a grassland field.
"Hmm, they are people of this steppe it would seem. Expect a warrior tribe. Any questions before we go in?"

Ali would step towards Michael with a small nod, glancing around as the feathers closed around them and opened to reveal an open area. Warrior tribes, she could deal with. She understood that on some level.
"Have their been any sightings of this sort of thing before in tbe area, or are there other places, too?"

"Among the zealot like followers of The Gods, none become more embroiled, or mentally unstable; depending on how you look at it, than the Nords. If it isn't odd following of amazing people, it's murder in the name of some interpretation taken wrong of the last Great Gathering."
Michael sighs, but let's his halo fall for his true form. Beginning to make his way towards the village in question. Rolling hills much like a steppe would expand outwards, crumbling ruins all that remained of whatever civilization there was before the Great War. Qi beast and mutated plantlife alike had all but reclaimed this whole area. It however wouldn't be long before they were spotted by horseman. They stuck to some invisible line however, simply observing them.
"They are trying to gauge us in case we are threats for the moment. A runner will be sent to their village leader and a decision will be made from there."

Savage gods for a savage people. Probably.
Ali would follow alongside Michael as they made their way through the hills, her gaze roaming over the area, remains of long-crumbled history being taken over by the world that had warped and changed. All his just shortly before she was born.
She frowned slightly at the sight of the riders, but they kept their distance, so her hands refrained from reaching for her sword.
"The Great Gathering?"

"A Great Gathering is when The Gods gather in their regions with their worshipers to be seen and be among the people to speak directly to them. Answer prayers and end strife or issues. Similar to people going to a castle and asking or petitioning the king over issues in the land."
Michael explained before the riders began approaching.
"Keep your hands visible."
The Riders would circle them with some distance as a buffer.
"Why do you enter our land travelers?"
"We heard tails of a great God of Death rising in these lands. We wished to ask a boon."

Interesting. Ali assumes that it's been a while since the last Gathering, but keeps the thought to herself so they're not advertising anything unwanted to the upcoming warriors. She would calmly keep her hands at her sides, nodding at the riders as they neared, as well as agreeing with Michael's statement.

"You have heard correctly, but he is no God of Death, but a God of eternal life."
Michael would look at Ali before looking at them.
"I would ask if he could return my wife to me. She has died very recently, and we luckily heard of his power."
"You will be brought before him and then we shall see."
They would begin escorting Michael and Ali in silence, being watched like hawks. Thought they cared not about Ali being armed.

Death, Eternal Life. For all it mattered, they could be different names for the same thing. If not...admittedly, Ali was also curious how Michael would react. She eyed him carefully at the mention of her birth mother, looking away from him with a small nod to look out at the others gathered. It didn't matter if it was her mother, another piece of what was the past and could have been. It was a good enough ruse for why they were here.
Even if she did wonder if her mother would have fought more for her to stay with her birth family.
Their lack of interest in her was somewhat irritating, but she followed in silence as they went, watched for any sign of a wrong move. She looked around them as they went, taking in the area around them and the people if there were any present.

Finally reaching the village it was large enough. Mostly well made tents, furs, clothes, and carpets. A central bonfire area for night time gatherings. The tents were easy enough to figure out. Many small ones for living and sleeping, medium ones treated more for food stocks, cooking, and smoking meats. Then larger ones for community activities, shaman, and elder tents, community dining. They would be taken to the bonfire area. Open space, nothing to hide behind besides the wood, ash and kindling for tonight bonfire. Finally a man would approach, his long white hair was only off set by his crimson red eyes. "Hello travelers, I have been told of your plight. You seek life. Whose life? I shall pluck them from the nether and bestow to you their life." Michael nods to Ali before replying. "Actually, I came to talk to you specifically about why you came to these people, and if you know what you are doing." The man is taken aback by this and is left speechless for a few moments. "That is quite different from what I was told." "I lied." The man begins to laugh.

It was about what Ali expected from a warrior tribe of the steppe. Basic living conditions. Lesser development. Eking out an existence in the land they called home. Her gaze raked over the man before them, white hair glowing in teh firelight, bright eyes crimson and unmistakable. Unnerving.
It was kind of disturbing - no, more than kind of - to hear this man talk about returning the dead to life as if it were nothing. As simple for him as breathing. At least, that was the impression she got, or that it would cost them more than him to do so.
The laughter was...annoying. Ali raised a brow and cocked her head to the side, waiting for this man to contain his mirth.
"I'm glad to see you can appreicate teh humor," she added dryly.
