Changing of the Guard

[Zack Asiv]

Smoking a cigarette as he approaches the main building with two normal Cabal Soldiers as an escort. He had sent letters ahead of time so as to not show up until announced or by surprise at least a week ahead of time.

Asiv peers at everything taking a long drag from his cigarette before squeezing the cherry out, stomping it and putting the butt in his pocket. He really didn't like these kinds of formalities, but it had to be done. Preston was a good apple though, so it shouldn't be troublesome at all.

Asiv would be let in without a problem and would be lead not to the throne room but one of the conference rooms where Preston would already be waiting. Two guards of his own in the corners as he stood in front of a table with maps and papers all neatly arranged. Though the map was laid out as it typically was. This being what served as a war room for the city of magic.

Preston looked up when the door opened and brought a hand to his heart and gave the President a small bow.

"It's a pleasure to have you here Mr. President. Please, have a seat."

[Zack Asiv]

Asiv would wave off his guards seeing two in the room already. Waste of resources having so many in one place. He would return the hand to the heart salute.

"Thank you High Chancellor. It's an honor to meet with one so young who has achieved such a high seat. Also I would be lying if I didn't admit it brings me pride to know you spent time learning and training at Cabal Academy."

Asiv would say as he found a nice seat that agreed with him.

[Preston Salabim]

"Thank you. It was a surprise to end up in this position so quickly. Truth be told I anticipated being much older by the time I achieved this." He'd say as he took off his glasses and wiped off some of the smudges, taking a seat after Asiv had found one to his liking.

"I credit the Academy with allowing me to take my theoretical knowledge and put it to a practical use as well as exposing me to people and backgrounds I would never have had the opportunity to had I stayed here."

[Zack Asiv]

"Wise words."

Asiv would say before folding his hands and resting his arms on the table.

"To cut to the chase as it were, I was hoping to go over some of the more primary functions of your position and it's relation to Cabal, as well as your own goals or intentions moving forward."

Asiv had already said as much in his letters.

[Preston Salabim]

"I am of the belief that our relationship with Cabal has been mutually beneficial and that our geographic location coupled with our alliance has allowed us to pursue interests outside of defense. Something that I believe has benefitted both of our people. I see little reason to change what has been working, and despite the recent attack upon our land I believe we are safe and that our alliance stands strong."

He cleared his throat as he leaned back in his chair.

"Moving forward I think it might be wise to increase the number of people we send to Cabal to help establish more of a working relationship with our battle mages and your Qi soldiers. I think that will make both of our forces far more effective. Meanwhile, I intend to focus more of our research on scrying so that neither of us will be caught off guard again with these new threats that have arisen."

[Zack Asiv]

"It is nice to hear you're continued support can be relied on in the future."

Asiv would say with a smile and a nod.

"An increase in mingled Battle Mage and Qi Soldier would be beneficial to the force as a whole, I share that opinion."

Asiv would scratch his cheek a bit.

"I was also browsing some of your trade families, one in particular has an interesting Qi Crystal Blade invention. Was wondering the procedure that would be needed to request mass production and trade of these 'Blade Wings'. If you would enlighten me on this subject I would appreciate it."

[Preston Salabim]

He clicked his tongue as he thought over Blade Wings. Putting the family to the specialty.

"The Kazim Family. A small but talented trade family. To my knowledge, they do not have the resources for mass production. I would be willing to lend some of my own families resources to the cause. It will still take time to get things up and moving, but it's possible. If Cabal was willing to relinquish any personal effects that Mr. Blaze and Mr. Sudeki left behind. They can be turned into potent spell components."

[Zack Asiv]

Asiv would smirk and fold his arms.

"Unfortunately mister Blaze took all of his possessions with him. However Mister Sudeki's equipment has been impounded. I don't believe we could relinquish them all, but some should be fine."

[Preston Salabim]

"Then I would appreciate an inventory of what you have when you get an opportunity and we can work out what would be a fair trade. In the meantime, I will send word to my people to start making the arrangments."

[Zack Asiv]

"I will have a manifest sent to you."

Asiv nodded in agreement. So far so good.

"I was also hoping to get some input from you about some current events."

[Preston Salabim]

"By all means."

He'd wait for Asiv to specify.

[Zack Asiv]

Asiv would sigh and rub his upper lip with his index finger before returning it back to it's folded position.

"Recent events with the Dragons have put Cabal in a bad position, and I have begun the process of excommunicating them from all of Cabal and affiliated territories. My concern right now is Elias Wyatt."

Asiv would let that sit for a moment, he knew they were at least acquainted.

"He has been revealed to have been a secret apprentice of the Lightning Dragon for who knows how long. However he isn't completely Cabal military. He came from his own territory similar to some others for training to return to his territory one day. I have not interacted with him myself and would know if you had insight into his character. If I should expell him immediately or allow him to finish his training and then leave on his own."

[Preston Salabim]

"You are aware that Elias is one of the soldiers that came to 260's aid when we were recently attacked and that would prevent me from having a completely unbiased opinion." He'd say with a small sigh as he adjusted his glasses. "With that in mind, if you still want my thoughts I am open to sharing them."

[Zack Asiv]

"I am aware. I'd rather know him through someone who has an idea of who he is before approaching him myself."
