Like her. Until now. Eve nodded as she followed up the attack with her daggers, the qi blades striking at at hiis legs to try and see if he'd block or take the hit. She could feel the remains of her energy fading, the effort she needed for each strike seeming to be even more as her muscles burned. it felt like she'd run a marathon.

Earth Blade's of Vengeance: Evelyn is capable of creating earth Dagger constructs combined with her own raw energy constructs that perfectly mimic the look of the blades her and her sister were given. These blades have an attack power of %125 her energy plus her attack stat. These blades are capable of many things.
1. If they cut someone they leave behind flecks of earth which can be used as a tracking target for any other Qi ability Evelyn uses.

He could feel how close she was to breaking through, so close, and yet so far. But close enough he did have to concentrate to keep the armor up. She likely did not know how close she was to a breakthrough. That was a good thing in his book, it would keep her hungry and look for ways to improve. Keep her eager to catch up. Especially because she knew he had more tricks. They would serve as goals to surpass and force him to use them.

Oh god now he was moving on to verbal traps. Evelyn eyed her father warily, the question drawing a blank in her mind.
"Because you wanted to be?" It sounded dumb, even to her, but that was what he did: set a goal and went for it. Chose to be a symbol, and become it.
She gave it all in her last attack that she could, knowing it wouldn't be enough. But she'd go until she couldn't anymore, small trails of seat liding down teh side of her face and dampening her hair.

He'd shove her away as she came at him easily enough, far from worn out himself. He could feel she was running out of gas. That part of the lesson was over for her. She'd endured longer than she had before, though she pushed herself harder than she had to in order to make him bleed. A lot of effort to not win the brawl.

She stumbled back as he pushed her aside, managing to stay on her feet, barely. Straightening as she caught her breath, she took the moment to give his answer more thought.
"Because you know how to keep people on their toes." Her mind went back to the various lessons he'd been passing on to her and Spike. "Surprises, for one. Out-thinking them."

Completely unphased and full of snark, like she hadn't done a thing to him. She wished she could say she was surprised. Mostly, she was disappointed in herself and already wanting another round.
"Other than you didn't stop until you got it? Yes." He endured whatever they threw at him to get there and came out on top. What else was there?

"Because I wasn't satisfied with a no. I didn't go there to give them a choice, in my head it was already mine. Time and time again people try to ascend and they are ready to give in when told no. I didn't give them the option. I let them choose their tests, and I beat them at their best. Go in with the mindset that you've already won and that's a good part of the battle right there. Losers worry about succeeding or failing."

Did he already know what she was going to tell him, or was she that transparent? It was good to hear, and she found herself nodding along in agreement. She wasn't about to leave to "try" and become a god - she was going and refusing to come back until she did.
Still...
"You already know, don't you?" She shoved the hair from her face with an exasperated expression, too tired to laugh.

"I'm going back home for a god right. For Bast." And if it was already an occupied seat? She'd figure it out when she got that far.

"Bast is also looked to or protection. A guardian." Not wisdom or tactics. Not brutality. Not a symbol of victory.
