With the string of current events on ehr mind, Ali sure why she thought a broken spear tip attracted her attention so - it could have been any spear that was used in battle until it was too worn down - but it did. Enough that she was here now, looking into it, vaguely wondering if she could use flakes of the blood for some sort of spell component.
Of course, that also meant identifying the blood of whatever or whoever had been stabbed, and if it could be cleaned. Maybe she'd just use it as a reinforced spear tip on her own spear. Assuming it had a standard design, she was off to whatever labs Trainees had access to to identify the blood!

Ali would make it to the science labs, where she would meet a young science tech.
"Oh, hello miss. What can I do for you today?"

"Good afternoon." Ali nodded in greeting at the tech that approached her, holding on to what was left of the wood as she showed it to him.
"I was hoping to get this tested. What it's made of, and the blood type if possible." It was fairly routine to study this back home. Time to see if Cabal's facilities could meet the same standard.

The tech, if allowed, would gingerly take the spear from Ali. He would inspect it for a moment.
"Well... we can definitely check the metal and wood, but we don't have anything for the blood... what's worse is if we do our test, the blood would most likely be destroyed. It's your choice."

Disappointing, but it couldn't be helped. Anything they could pull from it would probably ruin it, anyway. The mage suppressed a sigh, deciding to try a different test on her own for that portion, instead.
"Very well. Just the wood and metal components that were used, please."

The tech noticed her disappointment.
"W-well, uhm, if I may suggest. If the blood is that important to you, I would recommend going to the hospital. They should have the equipment to do some blood work..."

"I appreciate it." Ali gave the tech a small nod and a hint of a polite smile for his efforts. "As long as your tests won't ruin teh sample, please go ahead."

He would hand the spear back.
"I can't take it to the hospital myself. I'm too busy here, but when you are done there, I will happily assist you here!"
He would say with a smile as he went back into his office.

Off to the hospital Ali goes! She's still carrying it by what's left of the wood as she does, looking for one of the staff.

Ali is approached by a nurse!
"Hello miss, is there anything I can help you with today? Are you injured?"

"No, I'm well enough." She produces the spear tip. "I wanted to get the blood on this tested." Without running all over campus, preferably.

The nurse seemed less inclined to grab the spear as the tech was. But she would still inspect it.
"Hmmm... I would have to rehydrate the blood first. This blood is old. And I don't mean scabbed over old, I mean the blood on here has petrified."
The woman tapped her chin.
"We can indeed get the blood tested, but the spear will probably be destroyed in the process."
She would say looking at Ali.

"...I see." Of course it would. Suppressing a sigh, Ali nodded and took teh spear back from the nurse. Neither were an acceptable option.
"I'll come back later then. Sorry to waste your time. I wouldn't mind a pair of gloves, though." Nothing like carrying petrified blood and broken bits to make anyone worried about tetanus twitch. Once she had them, or even if she didn't get a pair, the mage would go to a quiet part of the empty classrooms she'd taken to occupying and shut the door.
"Option three." Putting on the gloves, she would touch the metal spear tip, tracing over the blood with a thoughtful expression. Just to see if she noticed any sort of energy or details.

She would feel some energy but it was worn down, and seemed very distant. But she could tell it used to be powerful.

They said it was old; it made sense the artifact would have its power dimmed by time. There were ways to work around that, though. She couldn't help the small rush of excitement it gave her at the discovery, but it didn't cause her to lose herself to the enthusiasm. Instead, Ali would gently infuse her own mana into the spear tip, hoping to get some sort of reaction, or a clearer or assessment!
