Blood would begin to glow. But nothing else would happen.

It was something. Ali would continue to add more of her own qi energy to the spear tip, channeling it in with a little more oomph!

The blood would just glow brighter!

Ali tests a theory by stopping the flow of qi and seeing how it responds to being cut off!

The blood retains the strength she had given it! Glowing and pulsing as if coming back to life...

"Destroy it," she huffed indignantly, mostly muttering to herself. She was still very satisfied with both labs, but at least there was progress.
With the spear tip still pulsing with energy after she cut it off, Ali would touch the bloodflow again, trying to get another feel of the power that lay in the blood.

The glowing petrified blood would feel warm and she could feel the power more clearly now, but it was still distant. Dispite the power she put into it, it was obvious that this wasn't even a fraction of what it use to contain.

Interesting. She was torn betweem the warmth and the feeling of somehow still being distant despite touching it. Was it just not enough power to ully charge, or something else?
Peeling off one of the gloves, Ali would lay a finger on the glowing blood, giving it another little charge of qi energy!

As soon as she touched the blood with her bare finger there would be a bright flash! Next would be like watching a scene in a movie. She would see a dark mountain range, hear the sounds of waves hitting a beach as well as men cheering and jeering. In front of her she would see a man wearing only a loin cloth kneeling. But she could tell that there was quite some distance between herself and the man, and she was higher up, a lot higher up. As if she were on a raised throne. Beside the man was sheild on one side and a spear to the next. She would see as 'her' body raised an extremely long arm, with skin that looked like it could've been painted gold, out towards the man as if making an offer. What happened next was a flash of movement faster than anyone could react the man grabbed the spear next to him charged forward and threw the spear at Ali! The spear would be heading right for her face she could see it as of time had slowed. But right when the spear was in her face she would jerk out of the memory.
"What are doing?!"
A woman's voice hissed. It was at this moment Ali would realize that someone was holding her wrist and she was no longer touching the blood!

Right, and this is why they both though Sectos made a bad decision when he poured his energy into a crystal to make it work. Ali is absolutely NOT telling Preston. She can't stand to think about what kind of lecturing or snide comments that would end up in.
Which are all very nice, normal thoughts until she's suddenly pulled into the memory in teh spear? Presumably by the blood being charged, but the thought is too distant as she experienced a long-forgotten world, her own body unfamiliar to her as she reached out an oddly long limb and faced an attack for the gesture. An unwelcome offer? It was hard to say with no sound, but the impending doom and horror she felt was real. A sense of knowing what would surely come to be.
Gasping as she was pulled out of the vivid memory, the mage spun on her heal and jerked her wrist back from whoever touched her.
"I was working," she snapped, irritated and embarrassed both as she took a moment to actually look at the hand that grabbed her - and the person attached to it.

Ali would turn to see a Woman standing there arms folded. Her finger tapping at her arm. Beside her a Man stood silent and motionless. As if waiting. "Working? Is that what you call almost being consumed by the spirit of long dead being that wants back into this realm of living? Cause if so, I recommend looking into a new profession."

"Who are you?" The suspcion is thick and the words out before she's even aware of them. Ali looked over the two, seeing people who were probably from this era and not whatever it was she just saw.
"And what exactly do you know about it?"

The woman scoffed.
"You sure are big and mighty for someone who almost died. How about a little respect for someone who has years and experience over you."
The woman stared at Ali.
"My name Alysa Varatos. I'm the Master Blood Mage in the Crimson Kingdom. In my field there is none more powerful or knowledgeable. Not yet anyway. Who are you, and why are you playing with adult toys?"

"How about a little understanding that you could be literally anyone trying to con me right now?" Ali's frown deepened as the woman scoffed at her, already hating the woman's tone. Her eyes narrowed as she took in teh two, but since the hooded man remained silent, she let him be for now.
"Alison Kazim. I would say it's a pleasure, but you either are lying or are trespsassing. As for being responsible for making sure I didn't die - which I am grateful for if it's true. Now," she looked back at Alysa, "since we are on the subject of 'adult toys,' why is it untended if it's so dangerous, and why are Protan citizens roaming Cabal grounds in the first place?"
Standing between them and the remains of the spear, she wasn't entirely sure which she believed. Blood magic had its own place in the world and was not her study or interest.

Alysa would just roll her eyes and chuckle.
"Oh sweetheart. You're adorable. It is a good thing you are pretty."
She walked towards Ali a couple steps and pulled out a vial.
"Sanguinem influunt quae."
She would say with a wave of her hand. The glowing blood would immediately liquefy, and as if being directed, would flow directly into the vial in Alysa's hand. Which she would cap shut.
"That should prove that I haven't lied about who or what I am. For the most part. And while my home may be aligned to Prota, we are not Protan's, I am loyal to my King, and no one else."
The woman huffed at this little girl.
"Listen, it's our job to hunt down blood that might've belonged to ancient powers. We then study it, and in most cases, destroy it. Because, once activated, which is what you just did, it becomes deadly. So, you just so happen to be lucky that we were passing through when you activated this artifact. Even more lucky that it was someone of my caliber. My underlings wouldn't have been able to pick up on an ancient blood that is purposefully keeping its power hidden."
