Cain is basically holding onto the mace with one hand as he directs himself towards the archer, aiming to plow right into it!

Cain is able to plow into the archer while he is reloading, sending the specter off the platform into the magma below with a scream! The two remaining ones with sword and spear would try to close ranks and attack him while he was in reach!
Mathew however simply extended his hand for his mace, letting it fly back into his hand pointing it at Cain as his metal hand rose to the sky. The air around him seems to ripple with power that was building up for something.
We need to run away, now! RUN! RUN AWAY!!!!

Cain basically shouts in his head, but to an extent, he's taking its advice as he flies away from the platform, aiming to move beneath it!

Cain moves under the arena so there is nothing but air between him and the magma!
Ares continues to draw on more energy. Cain can hear the distinct sounds of battle and weapons clashing now. It seems to be coming from all around him.
"Hide all you like, it's fitting that you experience terror before you die."

Cain closes his eyes, and lets himself fly in the path he can feel is right.

Oh thank the makers!
The weapon seemed relieved that Cain was going to run away! The power around Ares continued to build, the air was growing hazier and flashes filled the area, like a thousand battles being fought. Battles were fought by types of people that Cain had never seen before. Flashes of powers unlike any he had ever known. His flight would take him under and around the arena and he would begin to ascend toward the summit of Mount Olympus.
But as he climbed higher and higher he couldn't help but begin to feel a sense of loss. Even as the power below continued to grow and expand beyond anything he had ever felt.

The power around Ares was visible now. Scenes flickered around him of violence, brutality, the atrocities of war. Soldiers killing soldiers. Soldiers striking down women and children that offered resistance. No mercy, no hesitation. Strange and exotic powers on display. Almost all of it as brutal as the domains of War that Ares oversaw and represented.
"Decided not to flee? Bold choice. Still think you can win?"

Cain hovers there, still holding onto his cowardly mace.
"...I can't beat you head on. That's been made pretty clear."
He looks around at the scenes around him.
"This arena is too well suited to you for me to win either. Even if I knocked you off, you control the earth, so that wouldn't matter."

The images around Ares begin to solidify into the warriors that Cain had seen in the vision. One after another they turned from vision to reality.
"There is no such thing as a fair fight. What are you going to do about it?"
The mace was just babbling in incoherent fear at this point. A hot wire of panic.

Cain's eyes travel side to side, taking in the sights of all the warriors forming.
Then he looks at Ares.
"Fight. Run. Or accept defeat. Those are the only options left."
He closes his eyes one last time.

The platform continued to fill with warriors, weapons beginning to take aim at Cain. He could feel his heart fluttering. Like the next few moments would shape the rest of his life. Three paths laying before him, three Cains that he could become.

The warriors didn't strike him down as he flew toward Ares. The mace swung and struck, something? Some kind of barrier around Mathew that prevented it from penetrating. Ares would grip the screaming mace with his metal hand, and crush it, sending Cain falling to the ground.
"Well done Deimos. You have faced terror and dread and conquered it. I have little doubt that you will be able to inspire it in the hearts of men."
With a wave of his hand, the warriors vanished, and the energy subsided, leaving them alone on the platform within the broken and busted forge.
