New in Town? (Xowie)

[Adelaide]

Adelaide would be out roaming the streets trying to clear her head. It... wasn't going well. She needed a distraction.

[Xowie Evil]

On such a nice day, Xowie found herself sitting on a bench across the street from one of many playground turned parks. She sat deep in the bench and softly kicked her legs back and forth while she held her manga up high to block the sun.

[Adelaide]

Adelaide would happen upon an abandoned play ground she would punch the first metal pole she saw in frustration!

[Xowie Evil]

The sudden cry of bending metal screeched in Xowie's ears, and her entire body tensed, making her drop her manga in the mulch. Her widened eyes surveyed the area, and her body tensed up at the idea that the playground was under attack.

But, at the sight of Adelaide, her body relaxed. She seemed angry, but... not malevolent. After a brief moment of contemplation, she slid out of the bench and picked up her manga, examining it for scratches before walking over to Adelaide.

She approached hesitantly, and stopped a few feet away from her wearing a warm smile. Her makeup almost made her look like anime IRL.

"Are you okay?" She tilted her head curiously, wrapping her hands around her back and gripping the manga anxiously.

[Adelaide]

Adelaide inspected her fist. It was definitely going to bruise.

"I'm Fine."

She grumbled then she looked to the girl speaking and had a double take moment. The hell did this chick just walk off of a live action anime set?!

"Who are you?"

[Xowie Evil]

Xowie's warm smile remained and she bowed her head politely as she spoke.

"My name is Xowie. What's yours?"

She continued to fidget her fingers behind her back. These sorts of interactions always made her nervous, but she wanted to ensure this person was okay before continuing her day.

[Adelaide]

"Adelaide..."

She eyed the girl before crossing her arms.

"I've never seen you around her before. Granted I haven't met everyone but you're... distinctly different than everyone else I've met..."

[Xowie Evil]

Xowie stared blankly, tilting her head a bit. She dropped her arms to her side and stared down at the manga as she rolled it up to fit it in her pocket. She was fairly certain Adelaide wasn't going to hurt her, so the rest of her tenseness faded and she suddenly felt more comfortable talking to her.

"I don't know a lot of people, but those I have met call me strange, which I suppose is the same thing."

She placed a finger on her chin, thoughtfully looking at Adelaide.

"You're very pretty. I admire that." She added as another warm smile crept onto her face.

[Adelaide]

That caught Adelaide off guard.

"I- what?"

[Xowie Evil]

Xowie tilted her head again, then shifted her gaze to the ground.

"You're very pretty," She repeated, a little quieter this time as she rubbed her foot in the dirt.

"I admire that."

[Adelaide]

Adelaide was having a hard time processing this information...

"I, uhm, thank you?"

Is that the appropriate response?

[Xowie Evil]

Xowie took an awkward step back, unsure of whether Adelaide was pleased or displeased with her compliment. She began to anxiously fidget with her fingers again.

"You're welcome." She squeaked, her wide eyes closing momentarily.

She felt as if she had ruined everything.

[Adelaide]

"Uhm, you're pretty cute yourself... I guess."

What the hell was happening here?!

"A-anyways, why do people call you strange?"

[Xowie Evil]

In the brief moment Xowie had closed her eyes, she felt as if she had been encased in shadows, and the various voices that plagued her mind jumped at the opportunity to yell obscenities into her ears, causing her to wince at Adelaide's 'I guess'. Her compliment was not genuine, she was just trying to be nice.

Xowie's body tensed up again, and as she opened her eyes, she started to sweat, her face glistening as her makeup slowly began losing its composure.

Despite that, she continued to smile, shaking her head dismissively at the question.

"I don't know, I was hoping maybe you could tell me?"

[Adelaide]

"Well, I don't really know you well enough to know..."

She shrugged.
