She would begin. The mantra she used to recite for her mother. The trick was to ground them to the here and now.

"Smell the air, breath in the cool winter air, the smells of the city keeping warm. Taste the hot coco and the cinnamon."

Last step.

"Now, open your eyes and look at me, and see that only I am here, and that you are safe. It will be ok. I am real, I am here."

The five senses, the best, albeit the hardest, way to ground someone on the here and now.
