"Why is that?"

It was typically how it worked: you learned how to fight out of necessity, to some degree. Sure, there were people out there who did it for sport, but they usually started young. Somebody learning to fight as an adult was typically for something, or because of something. She understood the need, but had no idea what would lead a dancer to such a path.

[Djoser Aneksi]

He would take a seat on the edge line of the building. Looking very distant as he spoke.

"I... got the chance to go back home and take the god trial." He would say, his voice getting soft and meek. Something unusual for him.

"I need to do it. It is something very important to me." That he was adamant about. He wasn't going to be entirely forthcoming though.

[Leif Adamson]

"The God Trial, hmm? As in, in the Gods territory?"

Leif's brows furrowed as she contemplated what exactly that implied. She didn't want to ask about home; in all actuality, she didn't want to know. If there were still people back there, still alive, it had no effect on her whatsoever.

[Djoser Aneksi]

"As in, the rite of passage you take to become a God." He'd say with a mix of fear and awe. This was something legendary back home, and something he for once couldn't hide his fear of.

[Leif Adamson]

She nodded. It was exactly what she thought, then.

"If you need help, you should try to find out if there is anybody left from the Gods territory. They'd have grown up around things like that, and would be able to help you prepare. I can help you learn how to fight, but that's as far as my knowledge goes. I'm just a traveler."

[Djoser Aneksi]

"I appreciate the help you can give. It is invaluable. I wish I could say there was anyone else like me here. I am kind of the last fully ethnic Egyptian alive."

He'd say, now even more solemn.

[Leif Adamson]

Leif stared at him for a moment before nodding. She wasn't particularly surprised by that.

"From what I understand, the Gods territory is focused around Mount Olympus. I don't personally know any of the gods... but I understand being the last. I'm pretty sure I'm the last of my squad left... which isn't the same as an entire culture dying out, but... They were my people." Leif grew quieter as she spoke, until she was almost whispering.

"Its like reopening the same wound every time that realization hits."

[Djoser Aneksi]

Dj was just going to be honest.

"Pain isn't a comparable feeling because each individual experiences different. Your pain is just as valid as mine or anyone else. You can learn to live with it at your own speed, just be sure not to bury it as a substitute for coping."

He would say, turning to Leif with a warm smile and a calm presence. This was now going to be about Leif.

Leif gave a little shrug of her shoulders and nodded. She understood where he was coming from and had even utilized the same logic in her younger years, when other people were suffering.

"I assume you maintain your beliefs, then, as an Egyptian. Who is your patron?"

Nice try, DJ.

[Djoser Aneksi]

"I do, I worship Sobek." He would say plainly. Not used to talking about himself in a meaningful ways for long periods of time.

He would give a huff, not in the mood to fight for it.

[Leif Adamson]

"Sobek... I'm not sure I'm familiar with him? I know a little about the Egyptian pantheon, but mostly the well known ones... Oh, and Sekhmet. She's probably the least well-known that I know."

Leif chuckled slightly, glancing down and giving a slight shake of her head. No good, upstanding Catholic would admit to it, but most good, upstanding Catholics hadn't done half of the things she had.

[Djoser Aneksi]

"He is one of the oldest, most powerful god's of Egypt. The crocodile headed God who created the world and made the Nile river from his sweat. He is very important to Egypt." He would say with a bit more conviction."

[Leif Adamson]

Leif nodded slowly, contemplating what he said. At the very least, it would be something she could look into.

"Do you have the ability to worship, here?" Whatever that might entail.

[Djoser Aneksi]

"Every day. I can't hold any festivals, but I am very devout in my beliefs and practices."

[Leif Adamson]

Leif nodded thoughtfully. She hadn't spent much time trying to understand this world religions, or if they lined up at all with the old world's, but she understood being devout.

"More power to you," she said with a single nod. "How are you feeling? That looked like quite a bit of Qi use, there, and it's been... a bit problematic to use my Qi, since coming here. It exhausts me."
