Gidget's parents had arrived at their beach home the night before, with a simple text all but demanding her presence the next day. She couldn't breathe. All night, she had tossed and turned, hyperventilating, panicking. She hated seeing them, with all of their perfect perfectness... and the only saving grace was that WR had agreed to go with her. She had finally given up on sleep at nearly six in the morning, and spent the rest of the free time she had dressing up, trying on different outfits. She only owned one dress, one her mother had bought her the last time they visited, and despite hating it with everything she had... It was her only option. Taking a deep breath, she styled her hair to cover the scar on the back of her neck, and even attempted to put on make-up. After two failed tries, she ended up with some eyeliner her mother was sure to disapprove of, and combat boots. She really had no other shoes except Converse, and her mother had already told her she'd burn her converse the next time she wore them in front of her. Taking a deep breath, she paced around in her apartment as she waited for WR.

Everything leading up to this moment was absolute hell. Ever since they told Gidget they'd meet her parents with her, anxiety levels rose by at least three hundred percent, and for no particular reason. In fact, it was for pretty much every reason, even the things that weren't anxiety inducing were driving them up the fucking wall.
They spent three hours getting dressed, for various reasons, but mostly because they had four tuxes that did not FIT because people didn't know how to follow instructions. No, they instead had to borrow one, and then clean it, while everything else was getting wrinkled because WR doesn't know how to put clothes away. Not only that, they were sweating through the white and black like a dog, so they had to go through this process multiple times and then finally it was perfect and -- fuck, would her parents like their hair?
...
Repeat that process again, despite the fact that it was almost perfect that time, WR decided they needed to take the red out of their hair, which took an hour on its own, but EVENTUALLY, they looked somewhat formal and confident, and that confidence wasn't even confidence, it was more along the lines of they had run themself out of energy that they physically could not be nervous anymore. But, on the inside, they were fucking dying. Needless to say, WR was NOT prepared for whatever was going to happen tonight.
But, at the end of the day, this was for Gidget, and they were going to be there for her no matter what happened.
And after waiting outside of her door for fifteen minutes...
"Grem, I'm here!"

Gidget ran to the door and threw it open, the skirts of her dress brushing along her legs. She was shaking slightly, and her stomach burned with anxiety, but the moment she saw WR on the other side of her door...
She took a deep breath, and while her shoulders were still so tense they could have crushed diamonds between them, the shaking began to subside a little bit. She looked them over and a soft smile touched her lips.
"You look hot," she said, and then chuckled, giving a shake of her head. "Come in. I need you to help me with something."

WR gave a slight smile as Gidget appeared in the doorway. Her appearance completely caught them off guard. They were expecting something nice, but they weren't expecting full on feminine, and she was gorgeous. A lump formed in their throat as they attempted to form words.
"I -- uh, thanks, you too..." They turned their head slightly to hide the red, but quickly returned their gaze to her. "Yeah, sure, what's up?" They asked with a brow raised, heading inside once she allowed them entrance.

She led them over to the counter, where she grabbed ahold of the diamond necklace. She held it out to them, and when they took it, turned around so they could put it on her.
"My mother bought me all of this, and its... what she expects me to wear. She's going to bitch about my hair still being short, but there's nothing I can do to fix that."
As WR would put the necklace on her, they'd see the scar for the first time. It ran along her spine, from where her skull was to almost the base of her neck. It looked mostly professional, though they could have done better: the scars from the stitches looked a bit lopsided, and the surgery scar itself wasn't totally straight.

WR tilted their head as she presented the necklace to them, and their gaze lingered for just a moment, before they grabbed it. It wasn’t until they hooked it around her neck that they noticed the scar, and both eyes widened slightly.
They rested one hand on her shoulder to prevent her from moving away, while they rested their thumb on the center of the scar. They rubbed the back of her neck slightly, puzzled. It was... unlike any scar they had seen before. Perfectly symmetrical, carefully crafted...
“Where did this come from?”

Gidget tensed slightly as WR touched her scar. She took a deep breath, lowering her head slightly so that they could see the scar more clearly.
"That's from... the chip. When they put the chip in my brain, they went through the back of my neck, and up into my skull." She leaned back into them ever so slightly. She bit her lip, staring down at the ground. "It's a surgery, but it didn't go as... smoothly as they originally thought."

WR nodded. It wasn’t until then that they remembered the file they showed her sometime ago. It often slipped their mind that she was, in fact, an experiment...of some sort.
Their eyes narrowed as they examined it, running their fingers up and down the marks... it was certainly peculiar, and they weren’t quite sure how to feel about it. They weren’t exactly one to judge someone for their scars, but...
This was weird.
They dropped their hand from her shoulder and shrugged.
“Turn around.”

She reached back to fluff her hair slightly, making sure that it covered the scar again, before she turned around to face WR. Her gaze was still averted. Between the dress, the necklace, and the comment made on her scar, she was feeling rather insecure, and she shifted awkwardly from foot to foot.

WR gazed at her longingly for a moment, and their serious gaze formed a smile. She was gorgeous. They raised a hand to lightly grab her chin, and pulled her gaze to theirs.
“It’s gonna be fine. You got this, alright? Try to enjoy yourself, regardless of your relationship with them.”

Gidget's eyes widened slightly as WR lifted her chin, and her gaze flickered up to theirs. She swallowed back her fear for a moment, before nodding. This entire day was already so overwhelming, but them being near...
She lifted up onto her toes to press her lips gently against theirs for a moment, her body quivering. Her insecurities were obvious in her posture and the way she held herself, but in that moment, she felt like there was one thing, at the very least, that she didn't need to be insecure about.
As she fell back down to her flat feet, she took a deep, steadying breath, and nodded. "Are you ready to go?" she asked softly.

WR wrapped their arms around Gidget's waist as she kissed them, nuzzling her forehead before letting her pull away.
"Yeah, I'm ready. Let's do this, Grem."
They reached a hand to ruffle her hair but then retracted it as they remembered what exactly was happening. It was probably best if they turned down the WR...ness, for now, for her sake. After all, they had no idea what her family was like, other than what she had told them.
And that was that they were perfect, perfect, and perfect.

She nodded, and took WR's hand as she led them out of the apartment. She stopped to lock it behind herself, and the moment she slid the key out of the hole, she was shaking again. Taking a deep, calming breath (which did not work at all), she turned around. She was silent the entire walk to the beach house.
Gidget was quivering. The house stood over them, painted a beautiful white. It was two storeys tall, with a literal white picket fence framing the perfectly tailored yard. The porch was pristine, so much so that it bordered on unwelcoming. She glanced up at WR, biting her bottom lip, before nodding to them.
"We got this. You and me against the world...." she whispered, before leading her way up to knock gently on the door.

WR took Gidget's hand, reveling in their aura of silence as they walked. It was clear both of them were nervous about what was to come, but at the very least, the miscellaneous sounds of passersby going about their everyday lives was just enough to keep WR's sanity in tact.
There was no questioning the house once it came into view. It called every neighboring home poor in several languages. The house itself wasn't entirely impressive, but everything about it was... pristine. In fact, it was quite literally the epitome of a fairytale home. It was, in every meaning of the word, perfect.
No wonder Gidget was so nervous.
When they finally arrived at the door, they glanced over to her and gave a reassuring smile.
"Us against the world. It's gonna be fine."

"Oh come in!"
A woman would say in a very sing-song type fashion. Once inside they would see what looked like a classic 1950's style home setting. Nothing about this place suggested it was a beach house. Hell it was so dull and drab that one would assume that they had just walked into a 1950's suburban home. Down to the man in a sweater sitting in his recliner reading a news paper with the football game playing on the TV. The man would barely give the two any attention as they walked in. Gidget's mother however would come walking in carrying a tray of snacks that she would place on the coffee table in the middle of the room, she would be wearing a Sunday dress of dull colors.
"Oh... I-"
She obviously didn't care for the look of either WR or Gidget but a smile would quickly cover up her features. As she stood.
"Come in come in, have a seat."
