Kate still had more money in the bank than she had spent in her life. Troublemaker huh? A small little smirk appeared on her face. Yes, that would be the perfect name for a little boy.
"I really like those names Vale."
She headed up the stairs, one flight at a time slowly. Kate had picked the top floor, loving the view and the space. Slowly, ever so slowly, past the other rooms. No one was home at the time...and that was fine with her. No, that was better than them being home. She wouldn't answer any questions from them.
She stopped at her own door, staring at it for a moment. And then her pale hands opened it. Inside was an interesting scene. Her pet had thrown a fit for being alone for so long. So much for her goose down pillows. All her bedding was torn and tossed around, as well as some of her clothing. Chewed through things and made a nest of her clothing in the corner. He had, of course, not gone to the bathroom anywhere but in his box in the bathroom. The little guy was smarter than that.
"Domon... Come to mom you little fur ball." She walked across the carpeted floor, straight for the clothing nest. Her hands were held out, and the blonde crouched down by it. Soon enough the black ferret crawled into her hands and bit on her thumb. Punishment for being gone for so long.
A laugh escaped her, a light laughter. Domon was still the same. It must have taken him a lot of effort to tear up her bedding, considering how big it was, and how tiny he was compared to it. And despite the fact there was blood trickling down her hand from the small nip, Kate hugged the ferret to her. He loved her as well, and was just too much like the blonde herself. The girl softly spoke to it, in a light little coo.
"It's alright now Domon, I'm here."

"The little rascal destroyed quite a bit."
Valekin walked into the room, and waited, knowing better than to rummage through her things. He'd let her do it, pick what she wanted, and then bag it, so they could leave. He contemplated how she'd like the idea of burning the place down. But he decided against it, insurance companies don't really pay if you set the fire yourself, and Kate would probably be charged with Arson and Insurance Fraud, and she wasn't as slippery as Valekin was. Who if they ever caught him. Would get the death penalty.
"Anything in other rooms that you'll need?"

"Yeah, in the bathroom and such... It won't take me long."
She set the ferret down on the bed despite it's angry little noises. Greedy little attention whore. But she walked away from him, quickly pulling out a large designer bag from her closet. From there she began to fill it with jeans, t-shirts, her leather clothes... any type of clothing she wouldn't care to replace.
Kate had a feeling she wouldn't be coming back here. Vale better have room for this right? She grabbed a suitcase and began to put her favorite shoes in, along with jewelry and underthings. Following that would be her art, Domon's things, her hats, and family photos. The photos of her friends as well. Back in New York.
Then, walking into the bathroom it would be as simple as shoving the needed items in as well. Razor, shaving cream, shampoo, etc. It all went in and snapped close.
And then the blonde walked back into the main room and gave a sad smile to Vale. That was just about everything. Everything else she could just replace. Everything she wanted or needed was there in her bags.
"Let's go."
Picking up her ferret and a bag, who nipped at her again, she headed for the door.

"Do you want me to finalize it? Or should we just leave the building?"
He followed her out. Taking note of the fuzzy little thing. If that got in his way while driving, it could get ugly. His boots made light clacking noises on the floors, the stairs, the concrete. Practically everything but concrete when he just.. walked. He could have been silent if he wanted to be, but there was no need. The things she packed would have their room, and they'd fit in the car. He had everything he needed to make the building....
Disappeared in a lotus blossom of flames.[/i]
"Sure you have everything?"

"Yes, I have everything Vale."
She took one last look at the building, and then turned her back on it. Done with it, done with the memories. She hugged Domon closer to her, his little heart beating assuring her that he was nervous.
In fact, Domon had only ridden in her car. Would the darker car scare him? Would he think he was going to the vet? Kate would just have to keep a hold on him. And the best way to do that would be...
Kate set the bag down for a moment. And then she slid the ferret into her shirt, so he could curl up on to of her chest. Maybe it was own heart beat or the warmth...but it always calmed him down. Plus it left her hands free, even if her shirts always looked a little odd with a ferret in them. It would hurt...but Domon would be fine for the car ride.
"Let's go home now, please?"

"Alrighty."
He opened her car door, and would wait for her to get in, then would close it, and get in on his side, and start the car, bringing it to life with a loud roar. Then storm off into the streets with the vehicle. Making good time back to the factory. They'd park in the parking garage of the complex, and he'd lead them back to where he lived. It had a bathroom, that he made himself. All white tile. Clean, and perfect.
He had a kitchen too, fully equipped, though not too modern. And their bedroom, which acted like an office as well. He stripped off his shirt and put his coat down on the floor, then laid down on the bed.
"Put your stuff wherever, I'll get a new dresser for you soon. Then you can put your clothes in there. The bathroom is the room next to the kitchen, which is the next room over. That's all really. I could always make other rooms livable if it becomes necessary."
He was referring to the possibility of the kid.

She set her bag down and quickly pulled out the things needed for Domon. Simple little things like toys, food, and a few potty pads until she could get another litter box for the critter. Then she pulled the creature from her shirt and set him down. He was a one or two room kind of animal. And he was fat and lazy...so he wouldn't venture far.
She walked over to the bed after that and sat down next to Vale. Life would be interesting. Very, very interesting. She leaned down and pecked him on the cheek, as he had done to her earlier.
"Thanks Vale, you're a life saver."
She tousled his hair...and then did something she hadn't done in years. Just sat there and played with his hair. It was still the same, if a little different colored on the ends. A small little smile appeared at the memories of playing with this hair. She loved his, and he had loved hers. Odd, wasn't it?

"Hee hee, remember when we did this?"
He put his head next to hers, and braided her hair and his hair together, making one dark strand, wrapped around a blond strand, wrapped around a dark strand. They had done that before. And their contrasting hair colors had made it pretty. It was something he taught her, that his sister taught him.
"I think.. from now on, will be good times. Da?"
He said looking at her with a calm face. He still needed to finish her tattoo, but that could wait. After all, she lived there now. And she could have it finished whenever. He rubbed his skull against hers affectionately.
"Well, at least I've saved one life."

Kate laughed, looking at the at the braided hair with a little smile. Yeah, she remembered when they use to do that. She had been just a kid then...at least it seemed like it to her. The blonde nuzzled back when Vale did so, still smiling.
"At least one life? You'll have to stay around to make sure it stays saved."
Kate was after all, still depressed. There was no getting around that at all. It was life to her at the moment. One pale hand reached out to cup Vale's cheek. He was just too cute. Like she wanted to pinch his cheeks like an old grandma. A small little chuckle escaped her at the thought.

He turned his head to look at her, and smiled. It was one of those moments, that felt like a kiss could be there. At any time. He really wasn't doing anything, just sitting there, like some of his things, collecting dust. He was kinda bored too. He thought for a moment, of something to say. But what would the point of idle conversation be when he already knew her condition?
Things could get worse.
But at least now she was talking to him, and socializing with him. Where last night she was doing nothing but crying and sleeping. Which is understandable, but not very productive. Maybe they ought to go to the beach. They still had to pick up her car. But he didn't want to let her drive alone, she might crash it into a concrete wall. He worried about her now.

Kate smiled, still looking at their hair. Good memories were playing through her mind now. Of her and Vale, despite what little time they had spent with each other before... in New York. Starting in detetion...and ending up with an interest in each other.
He had even cut his hair to come in costume for her party. A small little smirk played on her lips as she reached out and tugged on one of Vale's locks. Kate had been upset he had done that... chopping such pretty hair.
"Don't cut your hair...okay?"
The blonde had to wonder if he would even remember that whole thing. The look on her face back then should have been priceless... and despite the fact she had been dating another guy at the time, Kate had been highly attracted to him. Funny how things turned out, right? She had no clue where that guy was, and was currently having a little fun just relaxing with her best friend, Valekin. Was the attraction there? Kate really didn't want to think of anything of the sort after what had happened to her.

"I've only ever cut my hair twice. Once before I joined the military, and before your birthday party so I could look my part. But I won't cut it if you say so."
Awww, such loyalty. He laid back on the bed, staring at the ceiling thinking about that party. It was one of his first, no, his only party he had ever been to in America. Occasionally he had been invited to parties in Serbia, but those were all super formal, with books the size of computers for etiquette on eating with a salad fork. All that stuff pissed him off. All of America's Hollywood royalty crap pissed him off.
"We should get the blood tests back in a week."

Her smile slid off her face. Kate sat up to stare at the wall... Vale... why did he have to bring it up? Life hadn't truly been happy since... she had joined the gang. Ever since then...life had just been...slowly crawling into hell.
Step by step...Kate always had something poking at the back of her mind. Then it had been how to keep the gang together, how to keep away from getting jumped again... And sometimes, she still looked over her shoulder for R.o.B. guys to come leaping out of the shadows.
"Did I ever tell you...what happened in New York....after you left?"
Had she told him? Kate couldn't remember. The blonde didn't know if he even knew about the gang...about anything that had happened there. Maybe it was time to tell him the entire story.

"No.. what happened?"
All of a sudden he was sorry he left for Serbia when he did. But the war was going badly, and now he blamed himself for what happened to her. What a mess, if they were within reach, he would kill whoever did whatever to her, without hesitation. And she probably wouldn't be able to stop him if he got it in his head well enough. Once it's in that downward spiral that's his mind, it will never come out.
"I should have never left for Serbia."

"I...joined a gang Valekin. Collosai. And I was quickly promoted to the top of the food chain...at least close enough to the top that...the other gang saw fit to try to have me taken...care off. I got the shit beat out of me...my hair chopped short... I have R.o.B. carved into my back."
A slight little chuckle. A unknowing girl had once asked who the hell Rob was and what the hell he had done to Kate's back. She hadn't known a thing...such a silly, new girl.
"After that well... life was interesting to say the least. The gang fell apart, I couldn't hold it in my fingers at all... No matter what I tried, until I told the gang leader I was leaving... and she just laughed. Linda had already left..."
Kate ran a few fingers through her hair...thinking about all of this. What all to tell him? The blonde decided...everything. Every little thing.
"While I was in the gang, after the jumping...they assigned me a bodyguard... I moved in with him to be safe. And ended up falling for him. I have issues with men it seems... as... it took a few months, but he gained my trust. I... I thought I loved him. And I slept with him...thinking that he was going to be the man I'd be with for the rest of my life..."
Oh yes, this hurt. This hurt badly to remember...let alone speak of. The words were shaky, her voice growing harder to hear until she swallowed to wet her throat and made herself continue on in a calmer, stronger voice.
"Turned out...he was a rapist... He raped other girls and convinced himself he was trying to get even with the other gang for what they did to me...but he ended up raping an innocent girl, a shy little one who had nothing to do with the gangs. He broke and told me everything... I left him, and he ended up leaving the country."
She wasn't done. Everything. All of it...every dirty little secret no one really knew. She hadn't even told Hiroko that.
"A couple nights later...after I had quit the gang... I started doing stupid things. I was depressed...and well, vodka was a way to forget things...as well as drowning myself in men. I slept around, and drank more vodka than most of New York together has... at least, that's what it always felt like in the morning."
Her shoulders slumped and she sat there, her bright eyed gaze staring at the floor now. She felt drained...but the story wasn't over yet. He had left when she was a 10th grader... and now she was almost graduating...a lot had happened.
"My father died...and I sobered up. At least a little, the companies began to send me to early college classes to be able to quickly take over. As soon as possible. I didn't want to, at all. Partying was my life...because I had lost all my friends. And then, I turned 18...I had all the money, all the companies in the palm of my hand...and the mob came knocking on my door with my father's debt staring me in the face. So I did what I felt like doing... I sold them everything for about 50 million dollars, and moved very close to my childhood home to live the rest of my life."
Almost done. Almost. He didn't know what happened here. He really didn't.
"I met Hiroko...whom I had known in New York. He was a teacher, but morals that should have stopped me...never did. We dated, moved in with each other... I felt...safe. And he disappeared. That's when I decided to get this tattoo and try to forget about it all. New chapter in my life. I had run back into you, and it was almost like you had never left. Hiroko came back and did this...to...me."
She turned to Valekin with a little, sad smile. Her eyes seemed dead because she had just poured everything out. Vale was the only one to know every detail about her life in the past few years besides herself. The only one.
"You're my only friend, my best friend. I'm glad I ran into you..."
