She looked down at her hand as Aureus placed a little black beeper in it. Normally she would have protested, saying she could take care of herself...but she knew that in this case she couldn't. And because she knew that Aureus cared enough to want to look out for her at all times. To protect her. And that only made her love him more.
"Thanks."
She smiled gently before placing a soft kiss on his lips, pulling back slowly and looking back down at the beeper in her hand. She pulled up the corner of her hoodie, securing the little box at the waist of her jeans, her shirt falling back over it and hiding it from view. It was like their secret.

"No problem." He replied after her kiss. She would only need to use it if she was in trouble, otherwise she could just call him. "Oh, that's right. I haven't given you my cell number either, have I?" He asked, feeling stupid for forgetting. She was the most important person in his life and she didn't even have his cell number.

A smirk fell across her face at his absentmindedness. It was pretty cute. Reaching into the pocket of her hoodie she retrieved a small almost oval shaped device that she flipped open in a deft movement. She held it paritally out to him, in a sort of offer.
"You can put it in if you want, and then you can have mine. Fair?"
For the first time since the incident, her voice held a hint of humor in it. She smiled at him, tilting her head to the side the slightest bit.

"Sounds fair to me, haha." The pillar said finishing with a laugh. One of his favorite things about Chi was the cute way she tilted her head to the side. If he remembered correctly, she had even done it the day they first met.
Reaching back into his pocket, Aureus pulled out the all black T-mobile and placed it into the girl's free hand. After that he took hers, opened her contacts, and entered himself. "So, you have class this period?" He asked casually. You people are fucking crazy. One minute you find out about one of the worst things that ever happened to you, and the next you're trading numbers and talking about school?! It's not good to dwell on the negative stuff too much, ya know? I'm still pissed off and want that bastard dead if that's what you're wondering. Hmm.

She took the boy's phone in her hand and flipped it open with the same movement. It felt different in her hand than her own phone did, but that was to be expected. Navigating through the menu for a moment, she found the contacts, putting in her name and her cell number. She could give him her home number too, but she was rarely there for long periods of time unless she was sleeping, and with technology today, why call a phone that she would have to cross the room to answer when she can simply take it out of her pocket.
Once she was done, she handed the phone back to him, letting her fingers gently brush his in the process.
"I have English now, but it's a little late for that. And you?"
She said with a guilty grin, seeings that it was over fifteen minutes into the class period. She might as well just skip rather than walk in hellishly late.

"Study hall," He replied with a smile after they had switched back their phones. "Sorry I didn't show for lunch. I ran into some trouble with that silver haired kid. Well, Levi did anyway." Aureus said before standing up and stretching. "So, waddaya want to do with this free period?" the Sophomore asked while lazily snapping the glove on his right hand to life, staring at the flame.

Chi stood up as well, remaining silent at the boy's appology about lunch. Since the incident, she'd more or less been avoiding their unofficial lunch spot, and the cafeteria all together. She'd pretty much just been avoiding everything. But things were looking up now, they weren't better by a long shot, and they probably wouldn't be for a while, but best not to dwell on it, right? They still had eachother, and that was all that mattered.
A small smile crossed the girl's face as the memory of their first unintentional lunch together. That was probably the first time they actually got along, her and Aureus. She blinked at the mention of Levi, seeings that she didn't quite understand how that worked...they were two different people...residing in the same body? It didn't make sense, but shew as sure he would explain it to her when the time was right, and either way, her feelings for him wouldn't change the slightest bit.
"Umm, I don't care, really, I've already got the company I want."
She said with a smile, playfully tugging at the lower part of his shirt. She glanced down at his hand, he seemed to be playing with fire, literally. Being slightly pyro herself, she simply stared for a moment, her mouth curved into the faintest of o's.
"Nice."

"Well then I guess it's up to me to find something fun for us to do." The Pillar said with a laugh. Hearing her respond to his little fire show, Aureus focused and caused the flame to twirl in separate columns around his hand. He had forgotten how cool it was that he could ignite his hands. It had been around six months since he had first acquired the gloves as a mysterious gift from Jake, and since then his control over the chemical reaction had increased. He was beginning to think the fire was feeding off his own energy, but there was no way, right?
"Yeah, it's fun when there's nothing else to do. Helps out in fights too, haha. Now, what to do..." He said, letting the flame die out. Thinking for a moment, the schizo decided the weather was still nice enough to enjoy some time outside. "Let's go up to the roof," he said before slowly walking towards the stairwell.

She continued to watch the glove as he made the flames dance about his hand. That was beyond cool. Chocolate gaze returned to him as he suggested going up to the roof. She was beginning to wonder what they didn't have in common anymore. There was a window in her house that opened up onto the small roof to the porch of her house that she would often escape to if she didn't feel like going all the way to the beach. And when her brother was home, the two of them would sit out there with candy bars, just letting the time pass by. It was one of the things they shared in his time at home, before he left.
"Ooo, an adventure."
With a smile she took a half skip to catch up with Aureus' already retreating figure, and she gently laced her fingers with his as they walked to the stairwell. She had never been to the roof of the school yet, the thought hadn't really crossed her mind.

"You've never been to the roof yet, have you?" Aureus asked after thinking about it for a moment. It was probably his favorite place to relax in the entire school. Any chance he got, he was there. You could see everything from so high, and there was nothing better than the light breeze that swept across the top of the building.
It was nice, feeling the warmth of her hand against his. As they walked along, his thumb rubbed slowly across the top of her hand. He was still having trouble getting used to it, the feeling of having someone so close both physically and mentally. It was the best thing he had ever experienced, and wanted it to last forever.
It was then that his thoughts turned back to the Soresu guy. He had effectively destroyed part of the person Aureus loved most, and for that he would pay. Just imagining the situation unnerved the Pillar, causing him to tighten his grip for a moment. There would always be something nagging at him in the back of his mind, and it wouldn't go away until he saw the boy broken.
Eventually the two ended up in front of the large doors leading out onto the roof. Pushing the metal door open, he held it until Chi had passed. It was around noon and the sun beat down hard, warming his cool skin. It was slightly off set by the wind that blew, but that was to be expected in October. For a moment Aureus just stood still and allowed his hair to be blown in whatever direction. Walking over to the slanted, glass sky light that stood over the cafeteria, he pulled himself up, then waited to help the dark haired girl up.

"Nope, I haven't."
She replied simply, smiling as she followed him. She would follow him anywhere..but the roof would suffice for now. Her smile softened even more as he rubbed him thumb against her hand, though her eyes flashed curiously as his gripped tightened briefly, as if something bothered him. Of course something bothered him, it was the same thing that had plagued her for the last week, and now she had passed the burden onto him.
Bringing her other hand up to sandwich his, she rubbed the back of his hand briefly, in a reassuring kind of way. They were here, they were together, and as long as they still had eachother, the world could end as they knew it and they would still be fine. The smile reignited on her face as Aureus held the door for her. Such a gentleman, she thought, giving a light hearted courtsey before passing through. She watched as he pulled himself up before walking over to the skylight herself, offering her hand to be helped up.

Taking her hand, Aureus pulled hard, getting her about half way up. She was a lot lighter than he thought she'd be. Once she pulled herself up the rest of the way, he leaned back and stared into the clouds. "It's pretty nice out today. Too bad it never snows here though." He said while leaning his head onto her shoulder. "What's your favorite time of the year?" He asked casually, breathing deep and enjoying the moment.

Once she was about halfway up, he let go of her hand so she could place them on the roof, hoisting herself the rest of the way up. She wobbled slightly, falling a bit to the right as she climbed up, still regaining the strength in her right arm since she got the cast off, but she was up. She made herself comfortable on her back beside him, leaning her head against his own on her shoulder. The breeze was nice, and she brushed some strands of her long raven hair away from her eyes as she glanced up at the clouds, they were nice today.
"It's lovely."
She said, not distinguishing whether she meant it to his comment about the weather, or just being up here with him in general. The truth was that she meant both. Being on his right, her left hand found his right again, fingers brushing down his side slowly.
"I like the fall, right when the leaves change color. I love walking down the sidewalk kicking at the leaves that have fallen off the trees. And I love how the smell gets into your clothes, like you go outside for a minute and then when you go back in you can smell the sleeves of your hoodie and it smells like outside. Like the fall becomes a part of you."
She said, rambling a little bit, it was hard to describe the feeling of fall. She turned her head slightly, chocolate eyes looking over at him where they reclined.
"And you? What's your favorite time of year?"

"Mhmm," he replied peacefully, feeling her hand grasp his again. God how could things get any better? Aureus wondered as his thoughts drifted aimlessly through his memories of Chi. Ever since the first time he met her, he knew there was something different about her. Aside from just being smart and fun, she just looked at things the same way he did. There wasn't a single girl in the school that even came close. Heh, even Max? First, that's your game, man. Second, no, she doesn't.
Hearing the dark haired girl being to speak, he forgot about his conversation with Levi, and listened intently. Her answer was so much more...profound then he had expected. It really made him think about the season. Before answering her question, he considered things for a moment. "Probably spring, it's just nice seeing everything start to grow again. Not too hot, not too cold, and everything just seems so vibrant. It's a nice break after winter. God, I love being with you..."

Spring, like new beginnings.. Chi thought blissfully as she absorbed Aureus' explanation, closing her eye briefly before she caught his abrupt change in subject. Sitting up slightly she turned her body to face him, placing her right hand on his chest with her elbow going across and resting her chin on the back of her hand.
"Hey.."
She said in a 'you can't pull the fleece over my eyes' kind of a way, bottom lip finding it's way between pearly whites. He was really handsome right now, the window tossing his brown tresses about his face. She couldn't help but smile.
"I love being with you too."
