”He’s my brother. Well, half brother, I think.” Cain replied with casual uncertainty. The assumption was that he and Gunner had different dads, but it was never confirmed since neither of the fathers in question was ever present. No one in the family of three seemed to care about detail, so it never came up as a genuine topic of conversation. ”I can’t imagine how she’d have any family,” he continued, although he knew for a fact she did, but he was more in awe that she could treat Vincent so… normally while to everyone else she was hardly human. But to Delilah, it would just sound as if he didn’t know. [/blockquote]

Damn. So, either he didn't know or Cain had a helluva poker face.
"Hmmm..." she acquiesced thoughtfully, pursing her lips. "So, what is she, then?"

”She’s the fucking devil.”
Maybe it would have been a joke, except Cain wasn’t laughing.

"...and?" she rotated her wrist in a what else? gesture.

Cain turned, giving her an almost suspicious look... not entirely sure what she was implying, but she was definitely implying something.
”And what? ”

"AND what else is she?" she replied with a hint of exasperation. "If she's such a bitch, why do you and your brother stick around? Or why do you let her 'lead'?"
Assuming, of course, that they deferred to her orders, which was already somewhat apparent.

Cain began to quietly chuckle, now that he knew precisely what she was getting at. Looks like he wasn’t such a good liar, after all.
…But he was a persistent one.
”She’s not around all the time. Most times she isn’t, actually.”
Nothing could be further from the truth; the thing he hated most about her was her uncannily catlike knack for being everywhere all the time, and despite that, he could never tell where the hell she was even if she was standing right behind him.
”Are we there yet?” he grinned, aiming to change the subject.

She scowled at him in disbelieving amusement, perfectly aware that he had not, in fact, actually answered her question. And she was around enough of the time to answer the radio in the place of his brother, which had seemed oddly coincidental given his tone when he replied to the sound of her voice, which was not surprised at ALL.
But she was picking apart his lies, little tatters of them flying away to reveal the truth beneath. He could add as many coats of paint as he wanted to, but you cannot change the shape of a thing once it has been created. She was observant and able to piece small bits of data together to form one long unit of information. Nothing was wasted and rarely was anything forgotten. Delilah checked the nearest road sign.
"A few more blocks. You should see it on the left."
A sly grin had formed on her lips as she gazed at him out of the periphery of her eye. "I'm gonna figure you oooout~." she sang, softly.

Cain gradually slowed down the car to turn and give this girl a good, hard look, his red eyes almost gravely stern. ”You’d be diggin’ yourself a very… shallow… grave.” he emphasized. He gave her a moment to interpret that however she liked, before turning his eyes back to the road and speeding up the car in silence. And there it was. The graveyard.[/blockquote]

Her expression remained as it was, even in the face of his bright red glare boring into her face, scrutiny adding a slight hue to her cheeks. Interesting. Was that a threat?
No. Probably not, not coming from him. He knew what she could do. That was more...implied. That he knew something that she didn't, and that was a something she really didn't want to find out about.
...advice never stopped her from making bad decisions before. Case and point was sitting beside her.
"If you say so." she said with an unconcerned shrug...though she did find his warning curious. Why did he care?
...DID he care?
She supposed she would have to wait to find out.
