Turning on the Lights (Kiyr/GM)

[Lucien DeChain]

Lucien had been thinking. Specifically, about an idea he had thought up a while ago. Something Leon had told him during his training, and it sparked (no pun intended) his memory. The power stations, now inactive since the bombings, might be able to be salvaged. If so, and the infrastructure wasn't too damaged... It could be repairable. All it would need, besides a few parts, is a jumpstart. And Lucien had become the most qualified for the job.

Within the Lightning Tower, Lucien poured over maps of Long Beach. It seemed that there were 5 key places he'd have to jumpstart in order to restore the power to the entire city. It didn't have to connect to the rest of the American Power Grid, which was most likely down as well, it just needed to run in a closed circuit with its own generating sources. Lucien was no engineer, but he knew it would work. It had been done before, Barker restoring power for a day, Leon supplying power to the city, it could be done again.

Satisfied his plan would work, he walked out of the Tower, heading for the first power station.

Current Map

Lucien begins to head towards his first destination: West Athens, within Dragon Territory. The Lightning Tower's Dragons give him respectful nods and a few casual words, but who knows what else awaits for him on his jaunty little walk!

At least here the worst he may get would be a few unhappy stares.

Lucien ignored the stares, for the most part he didn't really care that they weren't happy with the change. He had a job to do, and he would do it.

He made his way to the West Athens Power Station first, the large structure somewhat deadened by the lack of use. Lucien tried to sense if there was any electricity still running through the building, maybe this would be easier than expected...

It may be a bit easier than expected, indeed! Lucien would find that there was indeed an electric current humming within the station, as the Dragons seemed to have been repairing this upon Leon's return, which was one of the reasons that the Dragons had power - if spotty, still, as Leon didn't have time to continually supply it - more than most areas.

But, how much power could he spare if Leon had to boost it once a day or so because it didn't seem to continually cycle through its own power to charge itself..?

Lucien sighed with relief, as the power station was still semi-operational. It didn't seem to be performing optimally, though, as he felt the electricity from the station spiking and drooping.

He had an idea, though. All the main stations in Long Beach were interconnected, so if he could find a way to activate them all in a specific time frame... Maybe they would end up keeping each other in check. A self-sustaining electricity system. Maybe in need of a top-up every couple months, but if that's all that was needed, it was better than what anyone could ask.

He only hoped it would work.

Lucien's plan would need to start with an initial charge. Taking off his choker necklace, he felt the electric ball inside him let loose, sparks flying around him and interconnecting with the stray electric currents running through the station. It didn't hurt, though, just a simple exchange of power. As he walked through the station towards the main generator room, he noticed machines whirring quietly, a sure sign of life in the system. Finding the main room, he put his palms down on the generator and inserted his Qi into it, charging it with as much electricity as it could safely hold.

Near the end, the strain got a little much, and as he finished, he raised his hands to find them reddened and throbbing. He replaced his choker and strode out of the building, on his way to the next one. He was on a strict timeline, after all.

He then made his way to the Montebello Substation, in the Free Experiment's Lands.

Lucien's first endeavour is successful! Though, whether he's right in trying to get the five main stations to be self-sustaining has yet to be seen.

It's quiet as he passes through the Neutral Territory.

Too quiet.

He happens to be unmolested for the most part in the Free Experiment Territory, as well. However, since Lucien does stick out like a sore thumb and he's wearing items of the Lightning Dragon, it isn't long before someone comes to confront him.

"Another Dragon!? The fuck. Get out."

Lucien would have to think fast. The white-headed male with his blazing red eyes was striding forwards and seemed to have every intent of throwing him out--bodily so, if necessary.

Lucien would see the figure striding forwards, and he knew if he caused a disturbance to happen, there would be trouble. So, no fighting, it seemed. Reasoning? That could work.

Lucien raised his hands beside his head, and looked the man in the eye. "I come in peace, I'm here to help you. Would you hear me out?"

If the man wouldn't listen to reason, Lucien would wait until the last second and side-step, turning as he did so, to avoid the grip of the man and still keep him in view.

"Just listen, and if you don't like it, I'll leave by my own volition."

Had Lucien not asked if he would hear him out...Rust would have been on top of him to throw him out. But, as he did, he stopped a few feet away and blew out a frustrated breath, his eyes mirroring the conflict within him. He crossed his arms.

Time and actions would tell if this skinny man could help. Not words.

But he did ask, and so Rust nodded.

"Fine. I'll hear you out."

What would happen if he didn't like it, however, was definitely implied by his stance and tone of voice.

Lucien was thankful that the man was willing to listen.

"Thank you. My name is Lucien DeChain, I am the Lightning Dragon. I'm in the area to restore power to the generator substation in this territory. My end goal is to restore electricity to Long Beach as a whole. I do not mean to encroach on the territory of the Free Experiments, nor do I seek to gain the favor of the experiments. I'm doing this for everyone."

He paused, waiting for the large man to respond. Hopefully he wouldn't just kick him out, because this was kind of vital to the whole thing. If he couldn't get to this substation it was all a bust.

Rust still looked suspiciously at Lucien...but he was no longer so tense. He wasn't here to try and curry favour with them but instead was being altruistic? Well that was different.

"When the hell did you become the Lightning Dragon anyway? Thought that was that Leon Sudoku--er, Sudeki."

Time, however, would only tell if Lucien's actions rang true to his word.

He frowned a moment...and then heaved a sigh.

"I'll...accompany you, to speed your journey along. But then I'm taking you right back outta here. And if you're bullshitting me...well. Let's just say I know where you'll be."

Considering it was fairly obvious, and all, what with proclaiming himself the Lightning Dragon. He jerked his head to the side, gesturing for Lucien to start walking in that direction...and he would walk with him.

Lucien smiled, nodding. The man's agreement was satisfactory to him, after all, he wasn't lying. This really was his true goal.

"I appreciate it, thank you, Mr...?" He replied, before graciously taking the lead towards the substation.

He had also never made that connection, and had to inwardly chuckle at the though of Leon playing sudoku.

"Rust. No mister." Rust grimaced as he responded. Formality, blech. Soon enough, he shoulders open the door to the generator's building.

He doesn't hold the door open, but moves inside, expecting that Lucien would be able to get in with him. The sooner this kid was in and out, in Rust's mind, the better.

Lucien would enter as well, opening the door for himself while stepping in after Rust. Once inside, he would start walking towards the generator room, to see what the damage was. Would it be the same issue as the other station?

This station seems to have its good and bad points. On the bright side...it seems to be in better condition than the one in Dragon Territory. The downside is that Lucien can't feel any of the electricity inside.

The building remains dark as pitch.

Lucien frowned. There was no electrical currents running through the building. That could be bad... He thought, as he decided to step forward into the black.

He would hold up his hand in front of him and form a small ball of glowing electricity, illuminating the path in front of him. Making his way to the generator room, he would find the places where electricity was supposed to be flowing, and followed them back to the source. This, he assumed, was what needed to be charged.

He put both his hands on the device, and felt the electricity flowing out of him and into the station. Hopefully, in about five seconds, he'd be electrocuted. That meant it was working.
