Makes sense indeed.
"Oh, nothing, I was just thinking about the way things have been going in the last few months... Everything's been happening so quickly, after all.. How have you been? Really?" He asked, feeling a tinge of concern for the fellow. He was injured in the battle, after all, and it felt like though they had a history, Lucien didn't really know that much about the man.
Now might be a good time to start, at least.

"Worthless?" Lucien started. Raikotsu was anything but worthless, in Lucien's eyes. This was the man who helped liberate Zack Asiv, who stared death in the face without fear...
"What do you think makes you feel that way?" Lucien asked, settling in to his chair and turning into therapist mode. It was almost an immediate switch, after all the therapy the young man had gone through in his teen years, he knew how to play the role.

"Well... for one I know Leon thinks of me as weak and pathetic. Mathew doesn't think I will ever be ready to be a Named Dragon, and everyone else looks down at me as though I'm stupid. Then on top of all that, I haven't even done anything beneficial! Even in that last battle I went and got myself blown up, and had Delilah and Levi not saved me I would have died down there buried, and forgotten about... Hell, maybe that is what should have happened..."
Rai went real silent after that.

Lucien let the silence ring for a few seconds, making sure that the man was finished. When it was clear that the man had no more to add, Lucien opened his mouth.
"Raikotsu Sudeki. Let me enlighten you."
"Leon knows your potential. And he pushes you harder than anyone else, including me. Mathew, David, I know that potential in you."
"You're constantly being tested, don't discount it. The way Leon works, everything is a test. The reason it keeps going is because you haven't failed yet."
"Now, do you see? You're not being groomed to be a named Dragon, because this," He motioned to the room, to the Lightning Tower. "Is all meaningless. It only means what we make it mean. You're being prepared, tested for something much more important than this. You may not see it, but I do. You're destined to be a leader."
"One last thing. Don't ever think that we'd be better off if you were dead, or forgotten. Fuck that. You've saved my life, on more than one occasion, if you recall. Even if that's all you have, I'd say that's reason enough to keep going, to not give up."
By the end of his speech, he was leaning forward in his chair, an intense look in his eye as he panted, slightly flushed. After a moment, he realized that he had gotten to this state, and composed himself, waiting for the man to respond.

Rai listened to what Lucien had to say and was intrigued by how passionate Lucien seemed to be about this. When he calmed down and relaxed Rai smiled.
"Well damn. Never thought bout it like before. Thanks for that man."
Rai was happy someone thought of him as important, though... Lucien was under Leon's wing, and Rai knows that Lucien was being tested... so how much could he really know about Leon and his plans? Ah, but that doesn't matter right now, what matters is that Rai's friend was doing his best to console him right now, and that meant more to Rai than anything.
"You truly are a good friend you know that?"
Rai said with a smile still on his face.

Lucien smiled softly, slightly confused by the sudden change. Were his words really that weighted? Or was the man just humoring him by making him feel like he made a difference? At any rate...
"Just... Don't be so hard on yourself, okay..."
It seemed as though the passionate man had turned inwards, silencing his thoughts as he suddenly felt insecure about himself.

Lucien raised an eyebrow by the sudden eloquence of his words; it was unlike Raikotsu to speak that way... Unless he was trying to reciprocate the role that Lucien had just played. Lucien was open, though, open enough at least.
"Well, I guess there is a few things I've been thinking about. For one... This whole Strike situation leaves the future uncertain, and I'm not sure where I even stand... Plus... I've been having some conflicting thoughts about a relationship, lately..."
He spoke softly, murmuring almost. He couldn't make eye contact with his guest.

"Hmmmm... Strike will indeed be a formidable foe... but as far as he goes there is still... Or rather, never mind that thought. But a relationship you say? I didn't know you were seeing anyone. Anyone I know?"
Then he caught on to something that wasn't technically said.
"Oh... well, relationships aren't really my area of expertise but, if you need someone to talk to about it, I'm always here to listen."

Lucien froze. He didn't actually say anything like that, did he..? The young man hadn't even told anyone, was he really about to say something like this to Raikotsu..?
NOPE. Totally not coming out of the closet today. But, that didn't mean he couldn't say anything... Time to play the pronoun game.
"...Well, I don't think you know them... But, I guess it's been a while since I've seen them. It's been difficult, since it's a pretty long distance thing. At the end of the day, I don't even know how much longer I can handle it. Like every time they come back, it's a reopened wound."
Okay, so you could actually say a lot without saying a thing. Maybe Lucien should just never come out.

Wait, what? Rose Sudeki? .... Didn't Lucien just say that Raikotsu didn't know them?! He was about to respond, totally flabberghasted, but then Raikotsu called him Luca.
AND HE GOT ALL THE FEELS.
"N-no, it's not Rose.. I mean, Rose has this habit of sticking my face into strange places, but... It's not Rose. At any rate, why did you call me Luca?"
