Enemy of the Gods (GM)

[Mathew Amtrum]

"Perhaps tomorrow then. Thank you for the advice."

He inclined his head. And looked once more at the rubble of what was once the dragon statue. It was an interesting experiment at least. And it showed that what he wanted to do was possible. He was not limited to one Qi. He could do what he needed to do, the only hurdle was himself. He just needed to figure out how to overcome it.

Saluting the men gathered he would leave and head toward the lair of the Primordials. It was bugging him in the back of his mind, the whole thing with Chaos. What was the difference between Titan, God, and Primordial. Why are some with the Gods and others with the Titans? What kind of power did Primordials wield?

Questions that desperately needed answering if he was going to deal with the Titans and beings like Chaos. Perhaps there was some trick to beating them? Or containing them at the very least?

And so Mathew would go to the primordial lair, a cave and active volcanic flow within, but only light, no heat or anything.

There he would find Hypnos and Thanatos Simply sitting at a table eating some salted pork.

Mathew slowly made his way into the lair of the Primordials. One of the small factions of the Gods he had yet to meet or do anything with. They seemed to keep to themselves and the Greeks seemed content to let them. As Mathew had been as well.

"Greetings Primordials."

He intoned to announce his arrival. Taking note at their height. Not as large as Titans, but certainly larger than a normal person. Perhaps he was on the right track?

[Mr. Kaar]

Both would look to him.

"Come sit, we are enjoying lunch."

Thanatos would call over.

Mathew accepted the offer and would take a seat among the giant men. Looking over both of them, examining their armor and the craftsmanship of the work down. He was guessing that Summers was not the one to craft those sets of armor.

"It seems a shame that I have been part of so many groups within the domains of the God's and have not yet met you. Today is the day to remedy that."

He said, not at all apologetic about intruding on them.

[Mr. Kaar]

"We've heard of your exploits from here, Ares. Good on you for bringing back Hades."

Hypnos would say, however Thanatos would speak in.

"Simply coming to chat, or are you curious about the sudden appearance of The Titans?"

[Mathew Amtrum]

"Both actually. You are allies, and I know nothing about you. From your strengths and weaknesses to your personalities or really anything other than you are powerful. But I am curious about the Titans and the links that you have to them."

He said with a small pause.

"After all there are Primordials within their wall. Such as Gaia and Chaos. But I don't really understand what that means. Titan, Primordial, God. What does it all really mean."

He shrugged.

"But we do not need to start there if you would like to speak of other topics first."

[Mr. Kaar]

"In this day and age? Not much. Primordials are from long before those who call themselves Gods. Even before those who would be Titans. We were aspects of life, existence in physical form. We were what it meant to be alive in the world. The Titans where picked as protectors, workers, and destroyers of that existence. The Gods where off spring of those titans, and Primordials. You could say the impure properties of mixing the two caused a miracle, or just the right mixture of mismatched features and powers, caused something grand. Either way it was shocking to learn of this and that shock turned to violence. What is it called? Being human? To fear that which you do not understand."

Thanatos would explain between bites and drinks of his rather fine sparkling red wine.

"I am Thanatos, he is my brother, Hypnos. We are Primordials of darkness. I represent Death, my brother Sleep. We are related to others, Geras who represents old age, Oizys Suffering, Moros Doom, Apate Deception, Momus Blame, Eris Strife, and Nemesis Retribution."

Again Thanatos would eat and drink.

"I however, am more concerned with peaceful deaths, those of brutality and violence are not those that I like. I however have no love for mortals."

Hypnos would jump in.

"And as my brother said I am the representation of Sleep. My children and even my wife fill the world with good, bad, and fake dreams."

He had been offered to join them, so he would take some of the meat and if there was a glass then the wine as well. Eating as he listened to the two men talk, giving him a history lesson. But also explaining that there was no difference between the three groups other than age. Which was very good news for Mathew, he could beat Poseidon who was a God.

They may believe it is because Mathew was fated to ascend, and maybe he was. Maybe being here was some kind of fate. But he still knew he was mortal. All of them were. And if he could beat or kill Poseidon then he could do the same to Gaia, Kronos, or even Chaos. If it could bleed it could die.

"You must hate what I represent then."

He said to Thanatos before drinking the wine. If he hated violent deaths then he imagined there was little love for the God of War. For violent deaths followed him wherever he strode.

[Mr. Kaar]

"I don't mind war. Violence is another aspect of life, but to die in such a way... A way that breeds too many emotions, doesn't sit right with me."

Was all Thanatos would say.

[Mathew Amtrum]

"I see."

To him a death was a death. Better to die fighting for something you believed in than wasting away sick in bed. Better to die fighting an enemy you can face than be crushed by the inevitability of time. But War and suffering is what he was. It's all he really knew. Dying in a bed, an old man with loved ones around him was so alien to him it didn't merit consideration.

"Why to you live among the Gods? Why not with the Titans? Or alone among other Primordials? Where are the others that you mentioned?"

It sounded like there were many Primordials, but he only knew of two here.

[Mr. Kaar]

"Our family is among the Titans, mostly. Buy Hypnos family is here among the Gods, however they are usually running about the world doing their job."

Thanatos replied again, didn't seem like Hypnos was much of a talker. Or maybe he just enjoyed the food too much.

[Mathew Amtrum]

"So then any conflict between God and Titan would be problematic on a personal level."

He said slowly with a frown. It's not that he wanted war with them, but he saw it as a very real possibility. Family loyalties could complicate things greatly if it came to that.

"How would you suggest preventing a war with them to ensure that does not happen?"

[Mr. Kaar]

"Hmm... I'd say find out why they surfaced, if there is a reason, and what they want, if its anything."

[Mathew Amtrum]

"That's the thing. So far the few reasons I've gotten out of them about anything have not boded well. Killing Leon for lack of respect. Wishing to collect the souls of God's like they are trophies. Cursing me for aiding a friend."

But no actual reason as to why they surfaced, only for specific actions.

"So far they have not seemed to be very peaceful other than they are mostly isolated. I say mostly because I've seen one of them return to the wall, so they do venture out for something."

And he really didn't know what, but appearing now, near the Gods, wishing to collect souls. It wasn't hard to imagine that maybe they wanted war.
