Distressing Development (Infirmary-ish; Blake/Open)

[Blake Oleander]

He would stay for now at least. Coming into the room and taking a position by the wall where he'd fold his arms over his chest and lean back. More like he was guarding the room than actually part of what was going on.

"Not a problem. What's your name..?"

Might as well make her feel at ease and be able to pull her file for documentation, while she was at it. It wasn't a long walk at all, all things considered, and shortly Arianna faced the conundrum of how to make sure she could sit on the bed if she couldn't touch it to get up. The simple solution was a stool that she retrieved along with her file. The stool was set down and she gave a smile that was warm and compassionate.

"Have a seat, then? What happened that this came about, on your last mission?"

[Bailey Oleander]

"My name's Bailey. Bailey Blake." She hesitated at the sight of the bed, worrying about the same thing until a stool was produced. The small blonde was more than happy to use it to step up to the bed.

"Honestly? Not all that much. We went out to eliminate some qi beasts and save civilians if possible. I blocked a laser and got hit by another. Otherwise, I just watched our backs and helped the people who were stuck inside the building. Blake was the one who handled the assault."

"I was hit with the same type of lasers and I have no symptoms."

That was what he had to add at the moment.

[Arianna Barrial]

"Nice to meet you, Bailey, I'm Arianna Barrial. So, then, possibly something to do with the lasers, then, or not, just as easily. Did you get looked at at all, after, to treat any injuries..?" Arianna made a quick flip through the file before she nudged the rolling stool over, and selected a few sterile tools - tweezers and antiseptic, for the moment - and gently spread her hand that was unoccupied by the tiny metal pliers open to a comfortable pose. "Move your hands like this, please."

Thus far she'd been careful to not touch her hands, as she didn't know much about whatever was ailing her, though...it was safe to say it was something to do with her hands, given the damage to them.

"How many were you able to save..?" It was a question that was posed softly, and pale honey eyes glanced up to gauge her before she looked back down and cautiously pinched the end of a fragment of wood to extract it from her palm. This would more or less let her know if it would be okay to touch her, she wagered.

Bailey nodded at Blake's input. Nothing the others hadn't dealt with, and he had been hit by the same scorpions. She wondered if it had something to do with his regeneration.

"Nice to meet you, Arianna." She tried not to shift, watching as the other woman gathered supplies as she thought back to what happened after the sudden attack. "I was treated for the laser wound, but that was about it. But I hadn't really been grabbing on to anything at the time, either." She bit the inside of her cheek as she mulled it over.

"Twelve," she'd answer quietly.  This was worth it, whatever it was.  Moving her hands as instructed, her fingers would twitch if Arianna pressed down hard, but otherwise did not react. The tweezers wouldn't be damaged.

Blake just watched since he had nothing to add at the moment.

"Mm." It was something to consider, anyway, and Arianna lightly placed her free hand beneath Bailey's left hand, that she was working on. Splinters were removed one by one, the blonde doctor feeling no need to poke, prod, or apply more pressure than was necessary to dig out the wood splinters. "Twelve is a good number, I hope?"

It depended how many were there. But, if it hadn't been bad - the entire scenario - then she wouldn't be looking at evaluating the effectiveness of Cabal, and the supervisors.

"More than any other team."

[Bailey Oleander]

"We managed to save the most on the field." Bailey agreed. focusing on not letting her hands twitch too much. The conversation was a welcome distraction from the frustration she'd felt earlier. She really didn't want to know what it would cost to clean up her quarters.

[Arianna Barrial]

Sometimes it was difficult to be able to set aside grief for the lives lost. Others..? Others she was ashamedly numb to it. It was life, and how life worked, even twenty years after that initial disaster.

"I see. You did well, then."

Best not dampen the good they'd done by mulling over what was left undone. With a frown Arianna reached aside to swivel one of the lights to shine over Bailey's hands, and continued picking out the splinters.

"What else happened? Or...didn't happen?"

[Bailey Oleander]

"For us? Not much." Bailey frowned slightly, brows knitting as she recalled the fight. "We fought scorpions, they attacked, we didn't...nothing else seemed out of the ordinary." Nothing that made sense for this. This was nothing like what her abilities did. She glowed, she healed, she helped. She didn't crush things into dust, and hadn't face any attacks that had.

[Arianna Barrial]

"Are there any remnants of the scorpions left? If it has anything to do with the development of your problem it may be a way to figure it out. I'm sure we could do some testing, here...but if not I would think the sources I have could."

[Bailey Oleander]

"I believe there are some remains. Some of us were able to retrieve some." Bailey didn't have them on her, but she had a carapace from the fight.

[Blake Oleander]

"I have been able to fashion one of the tails and stingers from the beast into a sword."

His people were skilled at creating items and using every part of the kill so that nothing went to waste. It was necessary for their survival.
