Distressing Development (Infirmary-ish; Blake/Open)

[Arianna Barrial]

"If I could get a sample from those, that would be marvelous." She glanced between them, and then inspected Bailey's hands using the light. Any last little shards she dug out before gathering things like antiseptic and some light gauze, and a cleaning cloth to wipe any initial grime away with a bit of hot water.

[Blake Oleander]

"I will return."

And with that Blake would leave the infirmary to head to his room.

[Bailey Oleander]

Bailey's hand would twitch as Arianna removed more splinters, finally spamming as she focused too much on it not moving. The fingers would flex and close around the tweezers as she pulled it away, crushing the tweezers with a painful squeak of metal!

"Oh no. I'm so sorry!" Her cheeks flushed again, even if they were just tweezers. This was how it had started last time.

The grinding squeak of metal caused a shiver to roll down her spine, but she blinked at the mulched pair of tweezers. "Well, it's no matter, we have more."

In consideration, she looked up at Bailey. "Breathe. It's fine and you're okay, just relax, yes?"

[Bailey Oleander]

"Right." It took effort, but Bailey managed to take a few deep breaths, relaxing enough to unclench her hand. She knew how to handle new developments, how to study and look for clues to draw a conclusion or hypothesis. It was how she had reached the understanding that her grip was doing it, and not just a flux in strength that meant she rampaged like an elephant in a tent. But that sensibility had escaped her when everything else she tried failed.

"Sorry. I'm usually better at this sort of thing." She sighed quietly and shook her head. When had that changed? When she was going through the issues herself, or something else? The thought made her shift slightly on the seat.

"There's nothing to apologise for, Bailey. I know first-hand the struggle with new abilities...it's part of the reason why I'm here."

And wasn't that the truth of it?

Empathy, though, was a powerful tool at her disposal.

"Just concentrate on taking deep breaths and continue to relax."

[Bailey Oleander]

Bailey would continue to do as instructed, taking deep breaths as she focused on the conversation, instead.

"This is unusual. My powers doesn't affect my strength unless I want it to. It's not specific and I'm not doing anything that I know of to cause it." Except it was obviously happening.

"Well...with mine it's usually because I feel threatened. And I have a hard enough time as it is controlling them without that. So, I don't think it's something you necessarily need to stress over. Control will come with time. What do you do to relax..?"

[Bailey Oleander]

"Music, reading, walking." Sometimes investigating other things, but that was out of the question right now. She'd pull any specimens apart or grind them into dust. "At least, that's what I can kind of do right now." Maybe.

"I guess maybe I'd better focus on improving this, though. Relaxing won't do much if I can't get this in control."

[Arianna Barrial]

"You're right, but if you stress about it you'll be more likely to make mistakes, and that would just lead into a cycle and you'd be back here. So, what I suggest is trying to do something that you enjoy while working on controlling it? So, listening to music or going on a walk and seeing whether that helps with trying to pick up and handle things. As you get better at it you won't need to tandem it."

At the end of the day it was merely a suggestion. Bailey could take and modify it how she wished, to what worked best for her. Arianna's case wasn't exactly beneficial for her own advice to be put to use, but maybe it could work for her.

[Blake Oleander]

Blake would knock on the door twice before entering with the crafted blade in hand. He'd offer the hilt to the Doctor for her to examine.

[Bailey Oleander]

"That's a good idea, actually. Thank you." It would feel less like she was slugging through much in her progress. Until she got herself in check, life was going to be interesting, to say the least.

She looked up as Blake entered, gaze going from teh aterials to see what Arianna, wondering what she would be able to find.

A gentle smile curved Arianna's lips and she nodded; good if it could be useful to someone else.

Her eyes soon roamed back to Blake for the knocking and she took the hilt in one hand, using her fingers against the guard as she inspected it from the angles she could.

"Do you mind if I take a piece of it? Or should I be looking for another carapace that's not being used..?"

It was his sword, after all, and goodness knew she'd rather not have him lash at her for breaking off a bit of it for research.

He frowned.

"How large?"

His eyes flickered to Bailey, weighing her worth against the worth of his blade and trophy...

Oh, she feels that gaze.

"I have a piece I haven't used. We could do that, instead."
