"Bailey Blake? "
His eyes came up to the young woman, icy blues looking her over.
"Perhaps....you could deliver a message for me, to Leon Sudeki?"
He would glance at Arianna.
"Just um...tell him that he isn't as dead as we thought. Hopefully, he'll know what I mean."
He'd never met this girl before, obviously, but Damien knew she was a squad member under his branch. She'd be able to get to him fastest, as it seemed he was stuck here for the time being, and Arianna could barely look at him, let along do him any favors...

Arianna looked like needed more than just tea, but Bailey nodded and gave her friend a warm smile.
"Sure, that'll be fine. Do you want me to meet you here, or come by my place?" Well, her room, but it was the same at this point. Whatever she had walked in on, it seemed bad. The tension in the room was something she could cut with a scalpel and still not make headway.
Then the young man cuffed to the bed spoke her nae, drawing her attention. "Yes?" Again the handcuffs came into view, which contrasted with how she had seen him first. Then again, from what she knew, her Commander was in jail...again. After a moment, she nodded.
"Alright, I'll see how soon I can pass it on. Did you want me to tell him you're name with it, too?"

He'd lick his lips.
"Damien Blaze. You can, please."
He'd sag back in the seat and look down again, hiding his eyes in shadow as they made their plans. He was caught, now. No point in trying to continue to resist. Best case, he'd be deported back to Territory two. They could likely fix him, and he had some things to talk about with the King.

"I'll come to you, I think." That way, at least, there'd be time for her to compose herself. And wind down a little. Hopefully this time there'd be...distinctly less screaming. She was, essentially, all screamed out.
The exchange between Damien and Bailey was about as surprising for Arianna as it was for Bailey, and the surgeon glanced back to Damien...before she turned her gaze back to Bailey in silent apology.

That made her pause, studying Damien a little more carefully. The resemblance was there, but the similar name made it all the more likely. It also made her wonder if this was something she should actually pass on to Leon, but she nodded again to confirm her decision.
"Alright, I will." She caught the look Arianna had given her and gave the other woman a curious one of her own, but it seemed it would be best to leave now instead of later. She offered her friend a reassuring smile and a small wave.
"I'll see you later, then. You two take care."
If no one else had anything to add, she'd leave, shutting the door behind her.

Arianna nodded at Bailey with a soft "See you in a bit" in parting. With the click of the door, however, she took another deep breath and then turned back to face Damien with her lips pressed softly together. She felt stuck, but...less inclined to shriek, which was something, at least.
"So."
Now that she was done freaking out for the moment, and she was aware of where she was...

He stared back.
"So."
He lifted his hands a little and then let them fell, as though to gesture to his surroundings.
"Not exactly a boiler room and wine."

"I might have been able to handle a boiler room, sans wine."
Might have.
Or maybe she'd still be here and he'd still be there, and things would have gone as they had regardless. She couldn't really say.

He would close his eyes.
"I....can't tell you some things, Arianna. I just can't. I've sworn oaths. To you, yes, but to others too."
He bit his lip.
"But....you have to know if I could have come for you, I would have. You must trust me in that."

This was displeasing, but more frustrating than anything. The muscle in her jaw ticked again.
"Last I recall, my words weren't you coming for me, but on receiving some inkling of your survival through those you sent to watch me." Her voice was thick, but hushed; to her they were entirely different things, but perhaps he was trying to infer otherwise. She wondered, though, if those he'd sworn these apparent oaths to were the ones that helped this predicament come along, with Damien prone to whatever it'd been that made him do what he had.

He shook his head.
"God..."
He took a long and deep breath.
"Okay, Arianna. Lets assume I did. Lets assume for a second, that I told you I was alive. What would you have done?"
He stared at her, and while she paused he'd answer his own question.
"You'd have sought me out. You'd have wanted to know more. To meet. To come to me. Something. You wouldn't accept the information at face value. Even if you did, you'd question always both the truth of the claim, and you'd require understanding why I never showed up myself."
He adjusted himself in the bed.
"There were other parties watching you too, who thought I was dead but who kept an eye on you just in case. If they thought, for a second, that you were a weakness of mine, you..."
He looked up at the ceiling.
"Not everything is so black and white, that's all."

She would have...
Arianna couldn't contest him over that. She would have. So she took a breath and then exhaled.
"So, better for me to move on, then, and now find out that - regardless of what I thought and believed at the time - I've essentially been cheating on you?"

He let out a snort.
"Arianna. Please. You may look 20, and I may look even younger but we both know we're aged beyond our years. I've taken women to my bed. I've considered dating others. Love isn't so black and white either. One of your greatest strengths is how big that heart of yours is, but it's also a weakness."
He'd stare at her now.
"Never, from the moment I was forced out until I joined this school again, did I think for one second that we were together anymore. Our relationship broke the day I died. You waited so long to move on, and to poison what you had with me or what you might have with him with thoughts of being unfaithful to me...it's not right."

Wait, she looked twenty? The sudden awareness of everything that had occurred over the span of the past few days she hadn't really looked in any mirror, and that sack of bricks... Her jaw worked slightly, disturbed but unsurprised at the same time with the first part of his response. It was the second part, though, that sent a lance through her heart, and her hand rose defensively to rub over the organ that legitimately seemed to feel hurt with the other crossed underneath, over her midriff.
Till death do us part, maybe, even if they weren't married at the time.
"And yet here you are, alive. If you believe that our relationship ended when you died, why come to me at all?" Her eyes lifted back to him, having dropped, if only to hide her expression somewhat. At least...her eyes. She never was a good poker player.
Perhaps she should leave, then, and be done with it all, and figure out what she'd do about Abel and her de-aging.

His brow furrowed.
"We learn from the past, but it doesn't define me or you. Or us. You came to Cabal, and that gave me what I needed to feel confident that you'd be protected, if I came back into your life. Yes, our relationship ended. But I still love you. Just as passionately as when I left. I respect your relationship, I respect your life, what you want from it. Since I knew that you'd have to move on some day, I had to take on that mind set."
He didn't look away, however.
"Arianna, if I could, I would have you back. But that's...it's not something for me to ask for, and I hate that I feel compelled to tell you. Like I've always said, though, I'll never lie to you. And that's the truth of it."
