"Oh wow. A frilled Rust Back. A young one too from the looks of it. A couple of years old I'd say, probably on its first nest. That's a nasty son of a bitch. Very territorial. Very deadly. Where did you say your friend found this?"

Cara nodded at the explanation, remembering how she'd wanted to ask Gemini more but they hadn't known much and had't seen much about the snake until it struck.
"I'd wondered if it saw anyone getting close as a threat. We didn't see any signs of someone setting up to make it a pet, and I didn't see any nests when I checked. Still has its venom sack and fangs, too." She signed, shaking her head.
"She was in Territory 259 and had a strong push for qi beast rights. I was worried she might have tried to make a point, but we found signs that someone may have let it loose on her when she wasn't there and got an ugly surprise. Died by snake bite."

"Well, I wouldn't suggest trying to domesticate this snake. They are pretty feral and aggressive. If she did take one and tried to make a pet of it, I'd say this is the most likely outcome. If someone was gonna transport it to get it into her place they would need to sedate it. Probably with gas, the scales are really hard. So a dart probably wouldn't do much for ya there."

"Makes sense," Cara nodded as she looked at the remains with a frown. "I saw nothing there that showed it was a pet. What kind of gasses do you think would be strong enough? Is it really sensative to anything in particular, even just the cold to help sedate it?" It was an obvious choice in her oppinion to pick a cold environment to keep it sluggish once it had been gassed, but at this point any sort of sleeping mixture was beyond her.

"Keeping it in a cold box is definitely what I would do for transport to keep it sluggish. A few glasses could work I guess? I am ot an expert on that, but we don't produce that stuff here. Your best bet would be Territory 1 for that kind of stuff. But it was probably captured here. These guys dont normally last in captivity long. So it probably wasn't purchased. Awful lot of effort to go through to kill someone though."

Cara nodded. At least they were on the same page. But it seemed that whatever else she may want to find would be in another territory. The gas would be something she'd need to look into later.
"How would someone catch a qi beast like this? They're smarter than a normal creature; a simple trap wouldn't do it, would it?"

He actually laughed a bit at that.
"Of course a trap works. People fall for traps and get stuck. These snakes aren't THAT smart. They can be trapped. Besides, don't need to if you got gas and can find a nest. Gotta sleep sometime."

"True." Realizing she'd been a little too general, she tried again.
"What kind of places do they go for when they're building their nests?"

"Generally rocky areas. Places they can find shade and with plentiful small game. They don't stay out in the open terribly long."

"Are there any areas near the city? Or are they further out?" Most people probably wouldn't think too much of someone going near a known nest other than tryign to warn them off of being a fool. But if they were further out, someone with the know-how could do it without people even seeing them or thinking about it.

"They can be found near here. A few miles north of here there are some crags they nest in. Most people avoid the area though, no reason to go out there except to prove yourself or die trying. And there are better ways to die."

She nodded, looking out to where Hunter advised they snakes were normally found with pursed lips, tongue pressing against the back of her teeth as she thought her options over.
"Makes sense. Don't suppose you know if someone's made any anti-venom for it?"

"I have some, but the snakes are not the reason that ridge is certain death or a proving grounds. I hope you are not planning on going out there alone."

"Only if you're willing to play guide, or know someone who's good for it." Cara shook her head, very firmly on team not dying by snakebite.
"Like I mentioned before, I think someone released the snake and it bit her, so I was wonderinf if they would have that as a backup if something with wrong." Or if they'd need to know in case someone else ran into the same problem.
"Why are they so dangerous, then? I wouldn't go wandering in a craggy area alone with that kind of death being an option."

"I mean, is there a reason you want to go there? Or is it just curiosity?"
He asked with a frown.
"It's dangerous because it's part of an Alpha's territory. If you are unlucky you'll run into her while she is hungry. Or worse, nesting."
